I love this place for a quick lunch after shopping at Selfridges. The staff are welcoming and it’s a lovely place to eat outside on a sunny day. They have blankets and heaters, too. The pizza is decent.

Very disappointed with cheat trick, the prices in the restaurant are much higher than the menu online shows. For example spaghetti with sea food should be 14.5£ but in reality it is 18.5£(the menu was amended by pen). Carpaccio for sure not made by Italian, they cut it by knife, very thick slices, it’s not carpaccio, it’s chopped meat!!! Restaurant is not disaster but such a small things make the impression quite poor. I don’t mind to pay 18.5£ if I know it ahead. Now I feel they cheated me a bit.

Summary: + Simple and yummy homemade Italian food + Quick service + Small restaurant + Service is just average + Good food but not exceptionally so + Portion is not large Overall: I went there for a little late lunch. Their food is good but not good enough to stand out in the high competition in the area.(James Street/St. Christopher’s Place) Staff are friendly and pleasant. Small restaurant has the feel of family-owned diner.(It probably is.) Rocket salad: Fine balsamic vinegar was slightly sweetened with honey. It went very nicely with the mild peppery taste of rocket. Spaghetti carbonara: Spaghetti was done al dente just as it should be. The silky carbonara sauce was lighter in both texture and taste than many other places. I think it is actually a good thing as I didn’t get«cream sick» like I do when I have overtly creamy and fatty sauce. I enjoyed the taste till the very end.

Came here with some work colleagues for dinner on a chilly Tuesday night. Rather than following intuition of sitting inside, we decided on an al fresco experience and sat outside. Our leader decided on a great bottle of red wine — an Amarone, methinks — that was very well balanced and not too full-bodied as Barolo or Chianti often can be. I ordered the lasagne and it was just meh. While the portion was a good size — perfect for one — it was rather lackluster. The cheese on top was broiled to a brown, and the sauce really didn’t have any major flavor. For some reason, there was a strand of chive laying across the slice of lasagna. I’m not sure that did anything for the aesthetics of the dish. Would I go back? Probably not. There are plenty of other great Italian restaurants in St. Christopher’s Place demanding my attention!

The problem with wandering around with your hangry family is you end up not going to the places you intend. I had a destination in mind, but they were ready to eat, and my nieces decided they wanted pizza, so this is where we ended up. I ordered tagliatelle carbonara. It looked promising on the menu because they had the right ingredients(I’m tired of the Britishizing of carbonara…). Unfortunately, it was like eating a bowl of salt. I’m aware that with a dish with bacon, it should be salty, but it was as if they oversalted the water they were boiling the pasta in, picked the saltiest pancetta they could, then poured a bunch of salt into the eggs before putting them into the pasta. It was really terrible. I tried some of the pizzas(which looked great), but they seemed over salty too. I couldn’t really tell though because my mouth tasted so much of salt it could have just been left over from the pasta. To top it all off, they told my Dad that he could put in a tip if he wanted. They had already included a service charge on the bill. A service charge and a tip? Clearly they’re just trying to rip off tourists that don’t know any better. The server claimed the service charge«went to the restaurant». I call shenanigans! I would seriously avoid this place!

A nice local eatery just off the bustling is Oxford shopping district. Good food and attentive service. The staff have my kids generous scoops of ice cream after their meal allowing my wife and I to finish our meal in relative peace. Kudos to the attentive service. I had spaghetti bolognese and my wife had lasagne. Mine was delicious though my wife’s was just mediocre — kind of lacking flavor. Else if give this place 5 stars for the value in central London.

Atmosphere: Small, quaint restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating. Food: Bolognese tagliatelle — Good. Not the greatest, not the worst. Mushroom cream chicken pasta — Awesome. Great taste and pasta cooked perfect. Overall: We happened to stumble on this place because it’s one of the very few restaurants in the area that stay open past 11pm. Would definitely return!

Lunch time, come here at lunch time. While it might be a bit of a struggle to get that perfect seat in the sun, it will be worth it. For £6.50 you get an amazing selection of meals to choose from. Personally, I am in love with the Spaghetti alla Carbonara. It is the perfect proportion, amazing flavor and is all you need for lunch to be full. The service is friendly and they are willing to make suggestions if the special lunch menu doesn’t quite grab your attention. There are several Italian restaurants here in St. Christopher’s Place, but this is by far my favorite. If you go in, tell them Chris sent you. They won’t know who you mean, but I am trying to build a rep, so do a good deed! ;)
