Shaftesbury Hyde Park International

Love this hotel! It has the best location — right off the Queensway/​Bayswater main drag. The rooms were clean and well looked after, the staff was terrific (shout out to Enrika — always pleasant and super helpful!) and the little lobby bar was open all night! Take your drinks out to the patio in front and enjoy. Great hotel!

I stayed at the Shaftesbury for one night before my flight back to the US. The hotel is close to Paddington Station which goes directly to Heathrow Airport. Being less than a five minute walk to the station is this place’s biggest strength. I did have one unfortunate incident the morning before I left. My flight was early but since I had been in the country for a few months, I had some items I could not take with me so I decide to get up early and take some items to the recycling bins. When I returned I needed to use the bathroom but couldn’t wait until I got to my room so I headed for the lobby bathroom. Before I could close the door I saw a young gentleman running towards me. He asked if I was a guest at the hotel, I replied yes. He then asked me to show him my room key and immediately looked embarrassed when I provided «proof». I’m not sure why he assumed I wasn’t a guest. I was not dressed poorly but even if I was, it should not matter seeing as you shouldn’t make assumptions of that nature anyways. You would think if you asked someone if they were a guest and they said yes then give them the benefit of the doubt. The young man did apologize and helped me with my bags when I checked out so at least he did redeem himself. The only other complaint is the room was ice cold even with the heater and radiator heater on. Overall a decent experience in a nice hotel.

Near tube station, clean, modern rooms. Only thing some may have issue is small rooms, but this is Europe people. Your not going to get a Vegas 4 bedroom suite for these prices. A definite repeat for me.
I haven’t eaten breakfast here, but from experience at other places they are rarely any good and your better off picking something up the night before at grocery store for breakfast or simply go to a restaurant.

Good quality hotel, but the rooms are the smallest I have ever been staying in. Up to the point, that it is hard to put your luggage on the floor to open it! Definitely not a choice if — apart from sleeping — you have to sit by the desk and do some work, too.
Too pricey for what it is, that’s for sure. Although clean and tidy, I have to admit.

God hotel for the money. The rooms are small but that is par for the course on London. Clean, stylish and inludes free WIFI.
