I love the Scandi Kitchen. I either go for the meatballs or the Smörgåsbord with three tasty sandwiches. And a cinnamon bun of course ;-)

Came here twice to grab quick breakfast and coffee. Food was good and quick, coffee was delicious!!! Wished they serve meatballs in the morning, they only serve after 11:30am… Sigh and not open for dinner. Next time.

I went here while on vacation this past May as a favor to my friend to get some items for her. This is a really cute place that is part restaurant/part store. Although it’s tiny, they put a lot of goodies in a shop that size. I first had the lunch which was an open sandwich with a side of potatoes. Yum! I also bought two jars of my favorite lingonberry jam, some crackers, and as much stuff as TSA could allow me. Nearby the British Museum, this is a very cute store and I highly recommend it!

Delicious food, fairly priced, cheerful and helpful staff! Had the meatballs and it was really good. You can choose three sides from the salads and they were delicious as well. There are tables to eat in which are quite comfortable.

When you’re feeling blue, or just want to get you through the day, Scandinavian Kitchen and those Nordics really know how to do a cake right. Their infamous apple and cinnamon slice to be precise was a delight and service was really friendly and relaxed. Will defo pop back if passing for a bun and coffee next time.

Great place if you love scandinavian food. I used to go very often to Sweden !! So I was pleased to find this place. Good food very fresh and cheap. It is a bit of Sweden in London, love it!

Scandinavia’s finest! I come here for their cute little open sandwiches, that each look like a piece of art. As a pescetarian it is so easy to find something mouth-watering for brunch. They serve this amazing little suckers from about 11 onwards to please do not go there too early. There is also a little supermarket inside which sells typical Scandinavian things such as haring in mustard sauce, which I would really recommend — happy fishing ya’ll

Love the place. I came here for lunch after reading reviews of other reputable Unilocalers. Love the rye bread sandwiches and salad combo! I’m definitely coming back here again!

This is one of my top 3 places in London. No lying. TRUTHSAYSUPREME. I don’t mean this statement to necessarily mean that Scandianavian Kitchen is one of the top 3 places I’d recommend to others if they were visiting, or new to, London. However, Scandinavian Kitchen is one of *my* very top places in the city: it tastes like my childhood, and I could not be happier to have found it. Scandinavian Kitchen is low-key, simple, bright, smartly designed, good value, tasty, and and and… I love it here. Wanna meet for lunch? Under a bright red awning is Scandianvian Kitchen: part café/deli, part mini-grocery store. I was impressed by how many Scandi-favourites the back part of the store held: canned fish balls and herring, Norwegian cheese studded with caraway seeds, salted liquorice, dill potato chips(yes) and a clear case of penny candies so you can fill your bag up yourself. Having a picnic? Come here first for spreads and pre-packaged salads. But really, actually, what I’m here for is held in the front half of the store. Amazing cinnamon buns, cakes and brownies. My go-to lunch option is the either«pick 3» or «pick 5», entitling the lucky luncher to a selection of flat breads, wraps or salads. The flat breads are the typical ‘smorrebrod’ — open-faced on dark rye and sourdough and crisp bread, and topped with things like salami, pâté, egg and prawn, and mini meatballs. The salads are Swedish-inspired classics like beet, shaved courgette, cauliflower and potato. Feeling like something more substantial? Forget the IKEA meatballs you once devoured(it’s fine, it’s fine; they are my guilty pleasure, too) and turn to the meatball plate here — delicious and moist balls(why does this feel off-colour to be typing? Oy!) with a selection of salads. Eat in(there’s outside and window seating, as well as seating at the back and in the basement) or out, either way you can get through a delicious lunch made with care for under a tenner. Swedish chef says: BORK, BORK, BORK! Unilocal note: great website, too, with some items available to order/ship.

I can’t believe I haven’t been here before! On our quest to find good places to eat in London for less than £10, fellow Unilocaler Steve B and I drew up a short list of places that were either recommended or we just fancied the look of. Having a few Scandinavian friends who often come here, it’s been on my list for quite a while. Scandinavian Kitchen has a small frontage and could easily be missed. In fact we both had to check on Unilocal where it was, as we both thought we had walked too far down Great Titchfield Street, and must have passed it. It was very busy when we entered(well it was 1pm), and we were not sure if we would even get a table. You have to order you food at the counter to the front of the store, canteen style. The dining area is in the centre of the building, with a small Scandinavian supermarket to the rear. We both went for the meatball platter. For £6.95, you got 5 meatballs and a choice of any three salads. The salad portions were huge and actually filled the plate. I went for the traditional beetroot and apple salad, raw cauliflower with rye and almonds and mixed beans with mint salad. The salad choices are seasonal, so can vary. We were lucky that a couple of tables had been vacated whilst we waited for our lunch. We both really enjoyed the food, although I think I would give the raw cauliflower a miss next time, as there was too much of it and it was getting a bit too samey. For £6.95 we both thought the place was a bargain, and will definitely come back. They also offer a Scandi hot dog with all the trimmings for £3.00. In fact all the food displayed looked good, from the salads, open sandwiches, wraps, and pastries Highly recommend!

I love this place … I used to live outside Stockholm as a kid but then I’ve spent the last 30 years in sunny California … Not many Scandinavian places over there unless you count IKEA(and I don’t) So I was very happy to find this little oasis with all my childhood favorites … … Unfortunately due to high blood pressure I could not have any Extra salted licorice or Kalles Caviar … BUT… there was plenty of healthy food I could try… I had some different salads and the beers salad was my favorite although everything was great !!

Visited this place almost everyday when I was visiting the city earlier this year. Awesome food(fresh salads and sandwiches) and some hot food to order, and a lovely little store area that stocks Scandinavian food products. The beetroot and apple salad is my handsdown favourite. Lots of seating, friendly service, just an all around wonderful place.

Heja Sverige! Scandinavian Kitchen is an absolute must for all Scandi’s living in London. Also it’s a great place for local Londoner’s to get a little taste of the North. Not only can you satisfy your hunger over coffee with some delicious Nordic cuisine like gravadlax(cured salmon) on dark rye bread, pickled herring, swedish meatballs or the classic cinnamon bun, but you can also do some grocery shopping while your at it. There is a wide array of Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish delicacies for example«Salmiakki»(salty liquorice), rye bread and chips, knäckebröd(crispbread), herring, salmon, pickles etc. You can also shop online trough their website. Being a Finn living in London myself, it’s great to have a little taste of home every now and again.

Think of Ikea, but on steroids. This establishment serves both as a sit-down restaurant, coffee bar, and a mini grocery store that specializes in Scandinavian consumables. You have your option of dining in, taking out, or just browsing their interesting grocery selection. FOOD: I ordered the meatball dish with three sides of salads for about 7GBP(or $ 11.61USD) take-out. Not a bad price, especially with this amount of food! The meatballs were warm and delicious and went well with some of the salads I got. I opt for the beets and apple, sweet potato, and bean salad. All of them had different and unique flavors, however my favorite would be the beets because of the subtle natural sweetness of apple and beets. I wasn’t a big fan of the sweet potatos because of one of the spices in the salad, but I can appreciate the cultural difference in people’s taste pallets. The bean salad was just a healthy mix of beans and(I believe) lentils that really added a nice balance from the higher notes of flavor in the other salads. I also tried their Punsch-roll, which is a dessert pastrie made with marzipan dipped in chocolate on each side. The inside filling is something I can’t quite point out, but it’s delicious! Don’t be fooled by the size of it either. Although it’s small, it really packs a «Punsch». I would split it with another person if you never had it before. SERVICE: The staff was very nice and friendly. Even the person stocking the groceries said hi and made small talk. A little goes a long way.

I just love, love, love this place. It’s adorable and the selection of cakes and other sweets is huge. At least that’s my favourite part. Of course, you can have a nice, full, meal by choosing some of the meat options. Of course, the stars of the place are the meatballs that can make one tremble in fear of what comes next on the menu. Lovely place.

Summary: + Great salad selection + Friendly and helpful staff + Desserts are good too + A charming little grocery section at the back(Read dill crisps and fish paste) + Seating is a little small Overall: This is a very charming place that serves a wide range of Scandinavian food. I particularly like their selection of salad. Scandinavian food is not something I eat everyday. So I enjoy tasting different kinds of salad to get an inspiration for my cooking. They also have very tasty cakes. They have a little grocery section at the back where you get your hands on exquisite import goods like dill crisps or fish paste. The seating area is a little small, unfortunately. If they had spacious seating, this place would have been PERFECT.

A classic amongst London’s Nordic cafes. The cakes are still to die for and the selection of Scandi produce in the shop is extensive. The quality of coffee has been lacking a little recently — there are a few other cafes on Great Titchfield Street offering a higher quality brew. Overall, still worth a trip. Ask for cream with your brownie cake!

Having spent much of the past two years touring around Scandinavia, I was happy to see this place today when walking down Great Titchfield Street. Memories of my last visit to Copenhagen flashed by me… I ate the most wonderful: rye bread topped off with meatballs and beetroot.(By the way, the Smørrebrød literally stands for bread with butter.) I went inside and saw a nice selection of Smørrebrød in the counter, along with some tasty-looking salads. I went for their 3-piece option for £5.95(take-away). As 1 piece counts a Smørrebrød or a side salad. I took two Smørrebrød and one side salad, which I enjoyed very much sitting back at my desk and watching photos of Copenhagen on my screen ;-) In the back of the shop they have plenty of seating as well as a miniature grocery shop, where you can buy Scandinavian goodies.

I’ve been coming here for a while now — every Sunday around 11:15, grabbing a cinnamon bun or coffee while we wait for them to bring out lunch. I don’t know much(anything) about Scandinavian food but YESSSSSSS! Their beetroot salad and sweet potato salad are ace. Not to mention the little bits of fried onion and dollop of mustard on their roast beef /salami on rye things(I don’t even know what they’re called, sozz, but they taste real good). Big yes on the Smørrebrød and kladdkaka! I’ve had better cinnamon buns but these aren’t too far off. Although for coffee it’s probably best heading to Kaffeine across the road — not a fan of super milky coffee! Popped in last week and they’ve recently schnazzed up the place! The counter’s all done up now — in super slick black and salads in big wood bowls. Also noticed that they sell violet liquorice! A box for 75p maybe? Not even a liquorice fan but trust me, these’ll win you over too.

Scandi kitchen was one of my favourite places to make a trip to to indulge in Scandinavian food, coffee and loads of other yum. Being Swedish, I always search out the Scandinavian/Nordic/Swedish places whenever I move to a new place and this is way, way better than IKEA. To be fair, though, it’s more of a lunch/fika place than a dinner place as the food you have to choose from is usually a variety of the smaller Danish-style smørrebrød. And if you are not familiar with the fika experience, which is incredibly Scandinavian, you should certainly visit Scandinavian Kitchen. Hint: starting with a coffee and cinnamon bun(kaffe och bulle) is good, but anything goes! Scandis are fond of their smörgåsbord, and that goes for lunch, afternoon coffee(at least four of those a day, please) and in between snacks. The only thing is that the shop is really small and it can become very crowded. But don’t forget there’s another fika room downstairs! For people who like specialized deli food, this is also the place to go. They have not only Scandinavian food stuff, but they have famous brands from all the countries, so you can find Swedish smoked roe(Kalles kaviar) as well as Norwegian and Danish provided all countries eat it. Since it’s imported, it’s fairly expensive so be careful, you might end up selling your children to get another one of those yummy bags of salty liquorice!(No? Just me? Guess that’s what makes us Scandinavians stand out and alone.) Also, whatever you do: sign up for their email newsletters! I don’t live in London anymore but I still subscribe to it because it cracks me up every single time. If you’re not into emails, follow their twitter handle @scanditwitchen. Guaranteed laughs. Also, guaranteed cinnamon buns on October 4th on the annual Swedish cinnamon bun day! Enjoy.

Wirklich leckeres Essen in diesem Laden :). 4 Stars :)
