A great place to go for lunch or dinner after work. The atmosphere is bubbly and relaxed. A great option for large groups, with a varied menu and a greats drink selection(including very nice cocktails!). On a weekend the bar is much busier and a great spot to head to after a walk along the Thames or a day of shopping.

Great relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Perfect for a dinner with friends. The burgers were delicious and portions big enough.

Really good food! I go there very regularly and my whole family love it! My only criticism is that the menu is a bit limited but well worth a visit.

Great atmosphere and a good place to go for a cocktail or a glass of wine if you fancy a change from the gastro pub scene Chiswick has in abundance. Great for a romantic drink for two in one of the booths along the window, or bring all your friends and grab one of the long tables on the floor. Going alone? No problem, there are plenty of seats at the bar and the staff is very friendly and chatty. Sam’s also has a restaurant. The food is good but the prices are on the steep side and doesn’t offer anything you can’t find elsewhere in Chiswick so for me it’s just a great place for drinks and bar snacks.

The food(eggs benedict, side of chips aka french fries) was quite good. Eggs were poached and fresh, hollandaise was tasty, if a bit drowning the dish. However, the service was pretty nonexisistent. Seriously, the waitress walked past us multiple times and we almost had to tackle her. More creative cuisine and service available SOMANYOTHERPLACES on Chiswick high street, this really isn’t a good spot.

I had brunch here and was very impressed with it. I had the scrambled eggs and chorizo and it was delicious and plentiful. The coffee was very good and so was the Bloody Mary. The only negative was that the service was fairly slow. I don’t think that is normal since the manager came over without prompting to apologize for the wait and tell us the good was on the way. Which it was! I will come back.

Usually I go and try a new restaurant if there is something different and intriguing on the menu and if basing it on that, Sam’s Brasserie would not usually be a number one choice. However I found myself there on a Sunday evening with my family and friends and ended up having an amazing time. Sam’s Brasserie is where you find the usual easily recognised comfort foods like Baby Back Ribs and Nasville style fried chicken at it’s best with high attention to detail and a bit of extra flare. I was genuinely surprised. The restaurant opened at 6:30pm and as we got there early we made used of the Happy Hour they had at the bar, 50% off cocktails and bottled beers and bar food. The bar menu caught my eye with options like fish sliders, chorizo hotdogs and fresh oysters and 50% off too. Sadly we couldn’t try any of the food as we were saving our stomachs for the main event. For drinks I would highly recommend my Pomegranate Caipirinha which had a real depth of flavour in there with a fruity twist. Sadly the Long Island Iced tea was slightly weak. Without food the alcohol did go straight to my head so I was glad that by 6:30pm our table was nicely laid out with the menu and a jug of tap water was ready for us to pour out. We were asked if we wanted all of our dishes to come out together because only two of us had ordered a starter. With five mains being ordered and other diners I thought this would be a challenge however in excellent timing they managed to pull it off. Unlike the usual soup and bread Sam’s goes the extra mile and served my cauliflower soup with a crunchy cheesy crostini and a fried egg on top. Dipping that into my soup was just a pleasure to enjoy. The other starter of prawn masala off the set menu was packed with flavour and spices and had a really refreshing dressed salad on the side to balance the flavours out. Together with the set menu came the Wild mushroom and onion stroganoff which may have been on the healthy alternative from the 5:2 menu but did not compensate on flavour at all. The mushrooms really fragrant the dish and together with the creamy onion sauce just brought the dish alive and left us satisfied. The beetroot arancini did seem a bit small for a main, arriving in three medium size balls. The arancini themselves were very delicate in flavour, rice cooked perfectly sticky and fluffy in a beautiful thin crunchy breadcrumb coating. Flavours became more apparent with the goats’ cheese & onion sauce which really lifted the dish up. Together with the crunchy roasted radicchio the textures coming together made this dish a delight to enjoy. For meat lovers I definitely recommend the Baby Back Ribs. This one was cooked to my liking, one with a good bite and meat hugging the bone which I believe produce the best flavour and texture as it’s the boiled down till the flavours have gone. The meat was juicy and lean, portion was plentiful and the sauce was spot on, not too sweet or salty. They were finger food, sticky and great to get into. Together with the beautifully seasoned creamed sweet potato mash they were a joy to demolish. Not so successful were the rib pork-eye that was overcooked even though they said it would be pink in the middle. This made the meat chewier then expected, However we learnt to appreciate the flavours instead and it’s juiciness escalated by the marjoram dressing. The Nasville Chicken also had the same problem with being overcooked. This made the chicken quite dry and dense inside which is usually a problem with chicken breast meat. But once again the flavours from the marinated spices giving it that good kick of heat saved it, that and the lovely crunchy slaw and pickled gherkin on the side. Most the dishes came in a good portion although not all come with a side dish. Chips were one of the better ones, seasoned and fluffy. As for desserts I recommend the Warm Pecan Pie with cinnamon ice cream which was amazing with the soft yet crunchy pecans. The contrast of hot and cold really balanced out the sweetness, the cinnamon giving it that extra kick of nutty flavour. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely but could have done with more icecream to get the ratio right but faultless in flavour– a nice sticky caramel sauce on top into a light sticky toffee cake. The Ginger & Lemon Cheesecake came a lot lighter and fluffier than I expected. It was a nice change to the denser one I’m used to and I love how the lemon flavours were stronger in the sorbet and lighter in the cheesecake for that perfect balance. Sam’s Brasserie really did surprise us with the quality and skilled cooking. All the dishes although very recognisable, were unique and had great attention to detail. Service was friendly although could have done with more staff. I would love to make a return to Sam’s if the restaurant was nearer to me– one of the best Baby Back Rib’s I’ve had. A great family friendly restaurant with a kid’s menu, warm comfortable décor welcoming people of all ages.

What I like best about this bar/restaurant is that there are two distinct areas of the venue — a bar area and a restaurant area. I don’t see this often in the UK, if ever. I felt like I had walked into a American restaurant when I first stepped inside. My husband and I sat in one of the booths along the windows in the bar. It appeared that there was table service as some of the tables were being waited on, however, no one ever stopped by our table and we ordered directly from the bar. The first thing I noticed when the bartender was making our drinks was that the liquor was not measured. Never in my life did I think I would ever see a drink poured without the liquor being measured. It was nice. I ordered a cosmopolitan and my husband ordered the butterscotch martini. There was nothing special about my martini and my husband said that his did not taste very«butterscotch». Overall, our experience was fine. It would have been better had we had table service like the tables beside us along the windows. On a side note, every table in the bar was eating and the restaurant was pretty busy for it being a bit later at night(nearing 10pm). People eating is a good sign — we may return for dinner and drinks in the future.

Nice casual local. Had great ribs. An adventurous menu with global flavours. They do a very reasonable early evening menu. £16.50 for 3 courses before 7.30.

Excellent choice. We went for dinner during a London vacation. Had our two kids – 11&7 – along. They loved it. Great kids menu, delicious food, full bar, lovely staff. Would love to go back and try their breakfast.

Sam’s is tucked behind Chiswick High Road in a converted bunch of old industrial offices known as the Barley Mow centre. It’s a popular afterwork spot for the media and PR offices of Chiswick and no doubt does good business from yah-types wanting to pay over the odds for flavoured ciders from Finland and 1990s cocktails. But we went for a sunday brunch. And I’ll have to end my anti-Chiswick snark now, because I was very impressed. My choice was the Welsh Rarebit and in our group we also had eggs on toast, muesli and smoked mackerel kedgeree. Some eclectic stuff, all made well, presented nicely and served by a thoughtful waitress. It’s also a huge spot, so bringing along a toddler with us caused no problems. Obviously something they’ll have thought of being in Chiswick!

A great place not only for lunch or dinner, but they also serve breakfast. The place is a bit tricky to find, but if you look for it you can definitely manage. Great exterior and interior. It has a very nice and big bar, but it also offers other seating options. Although a free table isn’t that easy to find you can always make a reservation. The room is really spacey and offers a nice distance between tables, so you can talk freely without worrying about other people listening in on your conversation and the couches are quite comfortable. Service is pretty decent. The staff are all very polite, although not really friendly in the morning. I really love their pancakes and often order the steak, when I’m having lunch there. Overall it may seem a bit pricey for a lot of people, but it’s definitely worth checking it out.

Pancakes, it’s all about the pancakes. That’s what I think anyway. Sure, Sam’s Brasserie has plenty of other things going for it too: It’s tucked away on Barley Mow Passage, running discreetly parallel to Chiswick High Street. The service is polite, friendly and attentive. It has a pleasant atmosphere and relaxed, wooden interior. But the fondest memory I have of this place is the delightful, delicious and aesthetically pleasing pile of pancakes I had here one Saturday. It all started when I was told I would have to wait 20 minutes for them. In other words, they were being made fresh — great. Then they happily amended my order: no bacon thanks, just strawberries and a load of maple syrup please. And finally, they arrived, a stupendous sight of four pancakes drizzled in maple syrup and dotted nonchalantly with pieces of fruit. I took a bite, and yum — warm, fresh, sweet… delicious. I’m on a quest to unearth the best pancakes in London and so far these are definitely in the top two. Judging by the other reviews here, the rest of their menu is rather good too, which I’ll hopefully try soon. But for now, it’s all about the pancakes.

Atmosphere **** Cocktails ***** Food ** Service *** I love this place for a cocktail, it’s one of those fantastic bars where when you order something fruity, they actually get out the whole damn fruit and muddle it up(instead of pouring some once-frozen purée or some artificial crap in and shaking it over ice) The Bar are is nice and large, and the bartenders seem pretty attentive. I also like the atmosphere as it has a post-industrial feel to it Think: exposed brick, Bare wooden tables, chic lighting. My problem is with the food: It’s just not that good for the price. The chowder I had(not only had a hair in it) but was also watery and way over salty. The Salmon I had was tasty but completely cold in the center. The service was about average, not overly-attentive or friendly but they got the order right and everything came out in good time. My advice: go for the cocktails(and maybe some nibbles) but better and less costly dinning can be found elsewhere in chiswick.

Living in Hammersmith we are lucky to have so many brilliant and varying places to go. But there isn’t anywhere that strikes me as a good modern brasserie. Except here. It’s tucked away so often you forget it’s there. But I will deffo make a mental note now. It was our second visit after a first visit we thoroughly enjoyed many moons ago. Lovely spacious room. solid, cool concrete floor. diners are able to peek into the busy kitchen All sorts of people there. A good mixture of young and old. Lovely menu. Loads of simple things done really well. A great plate of English charcuterie and a lovely squid salad to start. The charcuterie was delicious. Well chosen meat, a cut above the norm, with perfect accompaniments and most importantly good bread. I just had a steak for my main but it was everything a good steak should be. Well seasoned, generous, cooked to perfection, presented well with some good fresh watercress. And stiff, fluffy chips to go with it. But the best thing of all…£18. Well worth it for the food and the surroundings and the service. That’s what you want from a good brasserie. Simple food. a menu that absolutely everyone will find an old classic they love on. All cooked without fuss or pretention but to the highest standard nonetheless. Sam’s benefts from being on a quiet side street in an industrial looking building which gives it a certain something too. Top marks for this place. I must remember to go back for sunday lunch with the family for a treat. It’s that kind of place.
