I’ve checked out this place after reading good reviews on here last week, and was rather disappointed. From all of things on the menu, only 3 meals were available. The food wasn’t tasty, it felt like they’ve done it 2 days ago, kept frozen and just heated up when we asked for it. I couldnt even finish it. I dont think I’m going back there again.

Samovar Café was when I first ate Russian food. I absolutely enjoyed the food and the stories that the owner had to tell me. Growing up in India as a child, I am very familiar with a Samovar and Russian culture. I almost felt like I was talking to my friend’s parents, the conversation was warm and jovial. We got an assorment of foods, the borscht was outstanding as were the dumplings called phelmeni. The cabbage rolls were served with really good sour cream, thick and creamy. For dessert I got a layered cake, for the life of me I do not remember what it was called. Great place to try Russian food. I look forward to going back.

The Kalinka food store owner told me to come here for the most authentic Russian food. It located at Queensway Market. Pretty near from Kalinka’s food store(will write my review later) It’s not a very big place, the café is surrounded with photographs and art work. I ordered the lunch special which includes borsch, meat pelmeni, kissel and buckwheat kasha. I could not resist ordering a Medovik cake. Nice meal! Certainly a good place to sample Russian food.
