I ate this food over two hours after ordering it, and through no fault of my own. A Thursday night for a take-away only restaurant should be too much to ask for delivery within an hour, should it, especially after the restaurant providing an ambitious 45 minute delivery? The guy delivering it was frantically trying to find my flat so they get points for that, but as a takeaway only service, it shouldn’t be above expectation to except bro to know where my flat is — have these dudes not heard of google maps? Anyhow — taking delivery time out of equation, food was mid rate. Butter chicken was RED with food colouring, a practice I find unnecessary, and lamb bhuna meat was dry and generally not very good. Good lamb samosa though.

River Spice is my new go-to for Indian takeaway. The bf and I like to order delivery food that is close-ish so it’s not cold when it arrives(yes, it’s happened). Our old, just-up-the-road Indian place closed this winter and we were looking for a new one. River Spice isn’t too far away and the prices were similar to the old place(read: not pricey). So we tried them. We are now both in love. They make a Chicken Kashmiri to die for. I love me some creaminess and lychees. As a person who cannot handle a fiery curry, I don’t know much about it, but my bf maintains the Jalfrezi is one of the hottest AND best he’s ever had. They seem to always toss in extra poppadoms if you order any. The naan is giant. The delivery is crazy fast. Love love love!

I’d first like to mention that River Spice is a take-away only! But far more importantly: Ooooh mama is it good! Cheap, delicious, fast and friendly. When I first moved to London, River Spice was my treat on nights when I was feeling homesick. I have no idea why I chose Indian as my LA comfort food, but for some reason it made me feel more at home!
