We were underwhelmed by our visit here. While there was nothing wrong with the dishes, they didn’t really have the«wow» factor that you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The view was great, but the surroundings felt a bit drab. The service was friendly and efficient. The amuse bouche was a cauliflower and almond soup. It tasted like puréed cooked cauliflower, which is what you may expect, but it was a little bland. I enjoyed the texture contrast of the almonds on top. I had the asparagus for my entrée. It was firm to the bite and fresh — just as it should be. It was served with a soft boiled egg with crust. I sliced the egg in two and the gooey yolk flowed forth, which is just what you want to see. All of the components of the dish worked well. I chose the sea trout for my main. This was salmon, but perhaps this is called sea trout in this part of the world? The disk was served with cabbage. I liked the crispy skin and the fish was nicely cooked, but I could have similar at home. My wife had the chicken breast with tomato sauce and gruyère cheese, with spinach. The verdict was similar as for the sea trout — nicely cooked, but similar to what we could prepare for ourselves at home. I finished off with the classic sticky toffee pudding served with a scoop of icecream. This was very sweet, but that’s just what you expect with sticky toffee pudding. The meal was rounded off with petits fours, which were nice but not spectacular. It was consistent with the story of the night.

This is the place for you if the main goal is to eat and drink with a view of the London skyline, and the secondary goal is to be seen spending money at Rhodes Twenty Four. This is the place for you if you want a cocktail, but don’t veer too far from the menu of bellinis, flavored martinis, or the short list of tropical drinks. I ordered a pisco sour, and they didn’t know how to make it.(In a hoity toity place like this? I was dumbfounded). At least the wine list was good. This is the place for you if you like your food very, very tiny and very, very expensive. My tomato medley appetizer(12.50GBP) had two bites of salad, a tablespoon of soup, and a sliver of panacotta. My monkfish«entrée» was the size of a single, large scallop, and they charged 30GBP(about 45 dollars) for this. Delicious? Yes. Made with care? Certainly. But I stayed hungry; for hours. This is the place for you if you want friendly service, but only if you expect them to visit every 20 minutes or so. OK, I should admit at this point that I didn’t pay for this meal.(And of course I never complained, and I thanked the payee profusely). Some may think a negative review for a free meal at a place like this is unreasonable, maybe even crazy. But the fact that someone was nice enough to pick up the tab here has ZERO correlation to the restaurant itself. If I was asked to pay next time, I would choose another restaurant. Thus the rating.

Rhodes Twenty Four is on the 24 floor of Tower 42 in the city. It is sort of a hassle to get in to the building, having to go to front desk, get a pass, go through airport like security scanners and then take the lift up to the 24th floor. I would however still say it is worth it. The view from the 24th floor is great, despite the many high buildings around it is still a nice view. The tables are also placed so that one almost has a view from all of them. The service was attentive so we were quickly seated when arriving and we had a waiter over to serve a glass of Louis Roederer champagne that was included in our set menus within minutes of being seated. We were also introduced to the options on the set menu — a very good selection of 2 choices of starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts(or rather 2 desserts and 1 cheese platter) We did as often is the case decide to get different things to be able to sample several dishes. I went for the asparagus with the soft egg and hollandaise sauce as a starter. The asparagus was fresh and perfectly prepared(a bit crispy), the egg was soft and the sauce fit well together with the rest. My girlfriend went for the cherry tomato soup with mozzarella and basil. Normally it would not really be a favorite but they managed to make it not too sweet and the mozzarella in the dish really lifted it and the basil took some of the sweetness out of it. For main my choice was the chicken with melted cheese and a reduced tomato and thyme sauce. It was almost to big and a bit heavy but flavor-wise a very good dish but perhaps not spectacular. The other main was the vegetable risotto and that was very pleasant, but also(as is often the case with risotto) a bit on the heavy side. We were pretty stuffed at this point so was a bit worried about the desserts but we would of course not skip it. I went for the the Sticky toffee pudding — exceptionally executed but seeing it was served with toffee sauce and toffee ice cream it was a bit much toffee after a while. The cheesecake with berries was a hit with my girlfriend and I did also like even though I am not normally a fan of cheesecake(did not stop me from trying it) and it was because it was quite a bit lighter and more subtle in flavor than what I normally see in cheesecakes. All together a very nice meal, the set menu was good value(£38 for three courses and a glass of champagne) and what I liked was they had not tried to save on the set menu. There were several options, the dishes were full sized(possible a bit too big). We did not have another wine but I did have a look at the wine list and was impressive, good range and prices were as can be expected. We did however have coffee and tea as well. The tea was a bit disappointing as it was actually tea bags — would expect loose leaf tea. The coffee was not great but perfectly acceptable. The petit fours were great, a wonderful little carrot cake, a splendid chocolate puff thing(not sure what it actually was) and a great chocolate with some tropical fruit. The thing that surprised me a bit about the place was the décor — it seems like the place has been around for a while and the interior would really need some freshening up. The carpet looked like it was starting to come off the floor in some places(and why wall to wall carpeting at all) and the art looked really cheap(probably not the case). Overall it was still a pleasant experience, service was knowledgeable and prompt, food was good albeit not any wow-feel but the consistent high level is impressive(and that is probably what earned them a star). For me it is sort of 3,5 stars but looking at value for money I will still give it a 4 as we ate 3 courses each, had a glass of champagne, some other(non-alcoholic) drinks, coffee and tea and the bill came to under £100 and that is pretty good decent for a place of this quality.

Great spot for our business lunch, food was above average with smallish portions but paired with attentive staff. Will certainly return!

Went here on a business lunch and although was wowed by the view, the food was just OK when I was expecting a bit more. Had scallops to start which were beautifully cooked but the red mullet as a main was a bit disappointing. Service was excellent.

I had a pleasant dining experience at Rhodes 24 a few weeks ago. The staff were attentive and the champagne was great. The food itself was good … but not quite up to par for a Michelin-starred restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, the food was absolutely fine; the stone-bass app and pork entrée I ordered was cooked perfectly. It’s the WOW factor that was amiss, you know the«oh my god, you have got to taste this» reaction that restaurants of this caliber should incite. Why dine here? It’s a great setting for a business dinner or if you’re looking to impress a date(the night view of London is pretty impressive). I wouldn’t suggest you come here if you’re looking for an inspiring foodie experience as I was.

Took a client out here. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but could not have been happier. The food was excellent. Small portions, but it was about quality not quantity. The person I was with even commented that the chef must have hand selected every drop of every ingredient. I had the salmon in oyster sauce. Excellent. Service was great. Atmosphere was appropriate for a business lunch, easy to hear what the other was saying without shouting. And of course impressive views.

Rhodes 24 is located in the Tower42 building on the 24th floor. The views are amazing and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Me and my partner loved the food and the prices are totally okay for that kind of quality and service. We had some lovely French wine with the food which also didn’t break the bank.

Went to Rhodes 24 during my trip to England and really enjoyed my time there. I enjoyed both tasting menus(food and wine) as well as cocktail before-hand. Service was impeccable, wine was outstanding, food was delicious. The view was fantastic. Definitely want to go back next time I’m there.

The food in here was sublime. We were greeted by a wonderful apéritif menu and a basket of freshly baked, warm bread, closely followed by a beautiful Amuse Bouche of leek soup. The menu itself is very small, but there is something on there to cater for all tastes; meat, poultry, game, fish and vegetarian. We had the most incredible Lobster Thermidor to start, followed by Venison and Mutton. We were too full to sample the dessert menu, but were led to the bar for an after dinner night cap, of which was on the house as we had just that night gotten engaged. The waiting staff were very knowledgeable if a little lax in noticing when we wanted their attention. The views are stunning — situated right in the heart of East City of London. We were quite resplendent in sitting back, feet up, sipping a night cap and staring out at the Gherkin. It isn’t a cheap night out, but I can fully justify the expense of the dining as the food was truly heavenly. I can thoroughly recommend a quiet table for a romantic occasion here.

Went to Rhodes 24 for a romantic evening with my SO last Thursday while I was in London on vacation(or holiday if you’d prefer). I was looking for a Michelin starred restaurant that served English cuisine(having never had high end British food) that was also romantic and this was what I decided on. Food: Good, not great. This is the biggest reason for the ho-hum, 3 star review. This is not the first Michelin starred restaurant I’ve dined at, and although they don’t award them to restaurants in Chicago I feel like I’ve certainly dined in restaurants there worthy of them and I expect more when I see that accolade bestowed on an establishment. The amuse-bouche was awesome, some kind of vegetable cream soup. I believe I tasted celery and perhaps truffle but I couldn’t be certain. For appetizers she had a sea scallop soup which was really very good, I had a foie gras terrine which was a completely overly salty adulteration of a quality ingredient that I generally love. Effectively it was impossible to taste the foie gras, what a waste. For entres we both had the rabbit which was good, but bland. Rabbit should be gamey-er than chicken but not as gamey as hare, it wasn’t. It tasted like a cross between chicken and bland pork, and in addition the dish itself was just boring, no pure or anything to go with the rabbit to make for a more complex dish except for a very light, very bland cream sauce. Wine: The list is quite comprehensive with a focus on French wines(which makes sense considering the location) but not lacking in other regions, I was surprised to see several Californian selections in an upscale European restaurant. Additionally the markup wasn’t obscene, keeping in mind you can’t exactly convert to dollars and expect things to be the same I did not find the wine to be outrageously priced and I decided on a very good 01 Medoc that was 53 pounds I believe. Service: Not good enough. Don’t get me wrong it was good, but for the price point, location, type of restaurant and the fact that it has a Michelin star the service should have been flawless and it just wasn’t. Really my only complaint was when we first sat down we were asked if we would like anything from the bar, we did but my date hadn’t yet decided what she wanted so we asked for a minute to decide. 10 minutes later I had to ask if we could order drinks first only after a server came by attempting to take our dinner order. Sorry, that’s just not going to fly with me in a place like this. Other than that the service was on point but that really irked me, I expect better and I would think they hold themselves to higher standards than that as well. Atmosphere: What can I say about that view that hasn’t already been said about Heidi Klum? Flawless, beautiful, I could stare at it all day. The view really makes the entire place, unfortunately unless you are in a group of 4 or more don’t expect to enjoy it close up. The table configuration when I was there had only one table for two by the window. Still, even from 20 ft back it’s spectacular. Beyond that the restaurant is upscale, elegant, the tables are spaced nicely. Even just getting up to the restaurant has an air of exclusivity to it, you have to check in at a desk downstairs where you are given security RFID badges, which you then present to security before proceeding through a metal detector and xray on your way up. The other patrons were all well dressed, a suit was more the rule than the exception, the restaurant is located in the financial district after all. Not to say the atmosphere was stuffy, because somewhat surprisingly it wasn’t. Overall I would call it upscale but pleasant. Value: It just wasn’t there for me and the sole reason was the food. Perhaps I ordered wrong, I’ll never know because I wont be back, but for me the dishes were average at best and my 18 pound(~$ 30) appetizer was down right bad. For 200 pounds(~$ 330) for two people I expect to thoroughly enjoy everything placed in front of me and I just didn’t. In a city with nearly 50 Michelin starred restaurants, there is better food to be had elsewhere at this price point.

Gary Rhodes is quite a well known chef, and this is one of his many restaurants. Situated in Tower 42, one of the tallest buildings in London, Rhodes 24 offers a fabulous experience in general. But, and this is important, don’t go for the food alone. Finding your way to the restaurant can be a bit annoying the first time you go up there, not least because only special elevators go to level 24! The view of the City was spectacular. The service was friendly and cheerful. The atmosphere was as expected in a fancy restaurant. My only disappointment was that the food, although nice, was not quite as spectacular as everything else in the restaurant. I am not sure if I will go there anytime soon but it is definitely an option I will consider for special occasions.

A beautiful view of the city to help you remember why London is so fantastic.(Note: Just be wary of the rounded windows after having one too many glasses of champagne… makes you feel(more?) drunk!) So I just got over being a poor student, so I decided to go check out one of these fancy sch-mancy places but lower the risk by first just going to the bar… First, getting into this place was like Fort Knox… you have to go through security, get a pass, go through an xray and up a set of elevators… When you finally reach the restaurant, you’re greeted with a stunning view of London complete with floor to ceiling windows. I love champagne, so drinks were good and prices were no more expensive that most nice lounges. I think we set a new record because we managed to order the entire bar menu(cheese plate that was nice and stinky, olives and nuts)…and even got an extra table kindly pulled over by the waiter when he saw the full-on indulgence we were going to have. Love it — for everything that makes me love London.

Sometimes my job can be pretty cool — like the time it took me from New York to London for dinner at Rhodes 24. Truth… sort of. The full truth involves boring work bits about event planning, floral design, and menu options that no one really cares about. The end result of the job is the same — a free dinner in a private room overlooking London at twilight. Everything about this place was stunning — from the well appointed décor in the private event room where my fancy people drank fancy drinks and ate fancy food to the private side room the event planners had for our faux fancy dinner. The wine(I tried several) and the filet with truffle vegetable casserole and foie gras butter were legendary. Seriously. LEGENDARY. I would eat that meal every day if I a) lived in London and b) had more money than God. Finally, the dessert was a trio of deliciousness. Service was impeccable and, during the event hiccups(all events have them) they allowed me to use a private phone and desk. Sweet.

This restaurant is nestled in the heart of the City but as you enter the dining area on the 24th floor you leave it all behind. The floor to ceiling views and the intimate atmosphere inside is what makes this place. If you have not been before — when you book make sure you ask for a window seat. Food is traditional British with an exceptional wine menu. What most people miss is the bar outside — separate from the dining area which is great for hanging out watching the views after dinner. Getting to the restaurant can be tricky — you have to negotiate several obstacles(security, lifts, stairs) so going after a few drinks is not advisable.

There is nothing like showing up to a high class restaurant in the city, blind drunk with two women who are about to vomit all over the silverware. Rhodes Twenty Four, so named after its location on the twenty-fourth floor of Tower 42 is a stunning restaurant with a spectacular view across the city. The restaurant is very formal and so is the service. On arrival we were offered three complimentary glasses of champagne. Having only an hour earlier devoured an entire magnum of Moet et Chandon this was not a good move. Without touching the champagne the ladies staggered to the bathrooms retching and drooling. We hadn’t even ordered or touched the selection of breads, yet I requested the bill to avoid both disaster and embarrassment. I ended up paying £50inc tip for a nice view and an embarrassing walk aiding two leathered women out of one of London’s top restaurants.

Some of the best views of London. The food(i’m told) is superb but expensive and you also have to book a long time in advance. We went for cocktails(couldn’t afford to eat!). Excellent Mojito’s and we even got a glimpse of Gary Rhodes! Save the pennies and check this place out.
