So stayed nearby and found this gem of s place by accident. From the outside it looks well kept and looked after. Good flowers in baskets adorn the outside. Inside the welcome was extremely friendly and it is defiantly a local not s tourist pub, but everybody is welcomed. A few beers on hand pump and a few lagers as we as ciders. They appear to have quite a lot of bottled beers but did not partake. There was music but it was not overly loud and allowed normal conversation. The queen mother ’ God bless her’ visited the pub and there is a plaque and many pictures to commemorate the visit

There are no normal, local pubs left in London. Or so I thought. This isn’t a bankers’ pub(Limehouse has a couple of those), nor a traditional local turned into student hangout(far too many to mention). It is a genuine, traditional pub on a street corner. Pop in for a drink and you’ll remember that it doesn’t have to be flash gimmicks, expensive food, or posh accents. A good pub can just be a relaxing place to see friendly faces and enjoy a drink or two. It may just be one of a kind… it certainly is in East London! Oh and all the football is live too.

Now under new management, with Jack and Denise offering a very friendly welcome and a decent(and constantly changing) selection of beers from the Wells and Youngs range. There are apparently some plans to give the place a bit of a facelift in 2014 so all very encouraging. Jack has gone to lengths to put in place Sky Sports and BT Sports so good for catching the football at weekends. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Lovely Victorian East End public house. Set on York Square away from the busy streets of Commercial Road. Great Young’s bitter at just £2−40 a pint. Nice staff and very friendly, well worth popping in for a beer or three. The Queen Vic is known to have copied the design of this pub for the EastEnders soap. Very unique that the Queen Mother once visited the pub and poured herself a pint of Young’s.

Wonderful pub, great prices, great team working to make the pub a great pub again. Darts covering all the City based darts leagues. Saloon, Lounge and a snug bar make this Victorian pub a delight to visit. If you have not been to York Square yet I you are missing out on a fantastic old world Victorian Square next to the Marina at Limehouse Basin.

My relationship with this pub is a bit of a bittersweet one, but without sharing that — I wouldn’t have much to say about this pub and in truthfulness is a large reason for giving it five stars. I was here for a wedding reception and for a funeral reception a year later — the hardest part being the same loved one was the centre of attention at both. Suffice to say; both times the pub and it’s owners dealt with the occasions in the best possible way; and I will forever have affection for this establishment. This pub is basically two separate bars; these little cosy rooms. but what the Queens Head is, is something that is becoming exceedingly rare– a good old fashioned pub. A place where locals come. A place where people smile. A place where if you go there three times the bar staff and owners are likely to remember your face. I always kind of long for pubs like this — just tiny little places to meet a friend where you can drink away an afternoon without any trouble, or without overpriced food and without loud annoying music. This is just a sweet, wonderful little pub caught between a bunch of houses in Stepney. The owners sorted out some food for the funeral reception I mentioned — and they were so great; they couldn’t bring themselves to charge us. We practically had to force money on them. It’s people like this and businesses like this that we need to protect. So if you’re nearby, or if you’re not nearby and you’re in Japan do us all a favour anyway; head down to the Queens Head and buy a pint. This pub is a great establishment. This pub was my Uncle’s local.

I used to live near Queens Head and this would be the place for an evening de-stressing drink, alone usually. It is a really quiet pub, typical of a residential area. The crowd is quite interesting which is a mix of middle-aged and elderly men with their pet dogs. Evenings in the pub are most likely their dog-walking sessions. The dogs have companies and are usually happy. As a dog-lover myself, this is an added bonus. I can have great fun with the dogs without having the responsibility of having one. Sweet!

This is a cosy little local pub. It is often very quite and is a good place to hang out if you are not too keen on noisy places. They do special lunches on special occasions for free with any drinks you purchase. Go for going alone and getting to know people around the neighbourhood. Interior is quite dark and old though.
