This was a very disappointing visit, after just leaving a very nice sociable pub. I was tempted to visit this pub for the first time in 20 years. I waited about 5 mins while the barman finished his game of pool, then to get that glacé which means what do you want, well being there was no real ales. I pushed for a quick vodka, with a dash, there are 3 pool tables, 5 fruit machines, and no atmosphere at all, not much more to say really except I was unable to take a photo as the outside was in complete darkness,

The other half of the two ‘boozers of Stratford’ is this, The Queens Head. Sitting only a stones throw from bitter rival, The Princess of Wales, this pub offers a different kind of appeal. The place is a little bit decrepit — renovation works advisable, to the management. Look past this minor flaw however and it’s just as publike and denlike as anything else you’ll want to find in East London. The people are friendly and the rates of busy-ness fluxuates between quiet lunchtimes and the revelries of a weekend night. You get some live acts and DJ’s playing on some weekends as well so definitely give it a visit during one of those times — it’s where all of the big bands started after all, and you’ll always want to be able to say that ‘You knew those guys when.’. A nice little place.
