Went here for my birthday celebration as I follow a wheat and dairy free diet and am fed up with only having a choice of one or two items on a menu and one of those being a salad! I could have everything on this menu, which was great and thoroughly enjoyed the focaccia bread with oil and balsamic and my guests greatly enjoyed the avocado butter. It was such a treat to have lovely tasting bread. Three of us had the pigs cheeks which were very tasty and two people had the lamb and one steak and all meals were very good. Three people had desserts and although they didn’t rave about them, they said they were nice. Décor is a bit basic and the restaurant wasn’t very busy, so lacked a bit of atmosphere. The staff are pleasant although one waitress had chipped nail varnish which I thought was bad. The cost was £50 a head which is too high for me to go here regularly but I would go again for a special occasion

The food was ok but I guess because of my expectations for this place I would say I’ve experienced better. Don’t get me wrong — I was SO excited about the paleo concept and had been wanting to come here for ages ages ages. My friends arrived 10 minutes early and by the time I had sat down the waiter was no where in sight. We spent a good 10 minutes trying to haul one down but when we finally did we explained we were off to see a movie in an hour(this is once we had ordered) and if our food was ready just bring it out as it comes. This was greeted with an «errr… well theres ages of trailers anyway so that means you don’t actually have to leave in an hour so we’ll give it an hour twenty». Like first of all, don’t decide for me. Secondly, we were going to the Electric Cinema so wanted to be able to order treats and drinks before the trailers started. What if I was a big fan of trailers or just didn’t want to rush the walk there? Anyway — besides that. Drinks came. I don’t drink but my sister and her boyfriend were both a bit disappointed with the cocktails and didn’t end up drinking it. My cousin said hers was very sweet but fortunately she liked very sweet things(my sister and her boyfriend tried it and did not). Starters came and they were great, main courses came and they were great. My sister did not enjoy her Cauliflower at all and again didn’t eat more than she could bare(apparently — I didn’t want to try it after she had said that!) and her BFs mash apparently was a bit weird too. In my personal view I thought the food was fine — like what I would expect the food at a restaurant to be like so it would be a 3 star for me — but the fact that my guests really didn’t have such a good time makes me hesitant about going back with others. But I’ll hopefully get a chance to try it again and perhaps review my review!

Food is average and the service is realty and starting from the person who answers the phone for reservations to the waiters.

I’ve been maintaining a mostly paleo lifestyle for a few years now, but sometimes it’s hard to stick to when I’m traveling. As soon as I saw a paleo restaurant opened in London, I made reservations for the weekend I was going to be in town. I’m happy to report that this new place did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is very cozy and the décor is very simple and clean. The service was wonderful and the food blew me away. We started with some paleo friendly bread with avocado butter. You wouldn’t know the bread was gluten and grain free if no one told you and the avocado butter is my new best friend. We had the scallops and Asian pork as a first course. Both were excellent. I had the short rib which simply fell of the bone. So tender and tasty. My fiancée had the fish and she devoured it. From the one bite she gave me I was impressed. We’ll certainly be coming back the next time we are in town.

Note that my rating is based on someone who is trying the paleo diet for the first time. That is important because eating paleo at a restaurant isn’t easy. Fortunately Pure Taste makes that easy because their entire menu is paleo-friendly. For food, the focaccia was clearly our favourite. We hadn’t eaten bread in a few weeks and it was great to have something of that consistency(no idea how they made it). Also the avocado butter was really good. We had the scallop and bass appetizers which were both good, though small(even for apps). For the main we each had short ribs which were good but also on the smaller side. The outside had a good crust and the accompanying sauce was great. We had the pineapple dessert which was a miss in my mind. Without drinks the bill was 100gbp which is pretty high. That said, there is value in being able to order anything on the menu without being concerned about dietary restrictions. The place is expensive if you’re looking strictly at the cost of food. However add the other bits and I found it worth the price. I would go back to break from this barrage of salads I’ve been eating, it’s a good change of pace but keep an eye on the bill.
