I did not expect this small café to make such an amazing matcha latte. The matcha taste was so strong and it was exactly how I like it. It was not watery, not milked out and not small. The staff was very friendly. They do have a bathroom. They also have a jug for the peeps that want water. They sell a variety of tea and pastries. I don’t doubt the taste of the pastries.

Cute little place to grab a coffee or tea. It’s not very big, so I wouldn’t bring a group here, but I went by myself and sat by the window and it was very nice! Can’t beat the people watching

The cupcake was spongy and beautiful. With the frosting sweet, but the base light and soft. The tea is served in beautiful cups.(Totally worth instagramming) And the iced coffee was perfect — great coffee and no sugar, not too much milk(just as I had asked) Will definitely be coming back.

After Colleen’s review I bookmarked Pretty Cuppa. And then just… never got around to going this winter. Today, a friend suggested we pop in to «this place» for«a coffee and a split piece of cake». And — that«place» was Pretty Cuppa! YESSSSSS. It was lovely. Basically just a lot of head-nods in favour of Colleen’s assessment — charming couple, lovely atmosphere, cozy, extremely clean. I got a vanilla chai(LOVE) which was creamy and sweet and gently spiced. The range of cakes was great, and even though I was fighting with my sweet tooth that day(it won) I really wanted to go for a mega-piece of quiche. Carrot cake(2 kinds; one with cream, one with the classic American-style cream cheese frosting) was the winner of our outing; studded with raisins and a hearty piece(good for two). Unilocal note: great for quiet reading, solo, or a meeting for a few. Not a massive place, but definitely one to shortlist if you’re in the area.

An absolute delight of a coffee/tea shop on Brick Lane! I’ve walked by many times in the past(though its semi-recently opened) and I think I always skipped it over as its in the bottom of a fairly new condo building, and thus appeared a bit«pre-fab» — somehow lacking in authenticity. Au contraire — this place is the sugar. Run by a husband and wife team, Pretty Cuppa will serve you exactly that. Tea in beautiful cups, pots and jars. As I saw trays of tea float by, I almost regretted my(very good) latte. I’ll definitely return for tea, this is a super sweet spot that is comfortable, clean, well-run and would be great to bring a friend, mom, etc. As for my particular jaunt this go ’round — aforementioned latte(which was incredible, btw — and I’m a harsh coffee critic), a slice of spinach quiche and a pistachio cake. Wow. That cake. Do have it. They have a large assortment of cakes on special order as well, I believe you just call or email ahead and they’ll prepare it for you. However the selection in the window is very nice, so if you’d like a taster — do buy one and try yourself. I certainly would not shy away from buying an entire cake, though I don’t think I could trust myself around it. I was glad the pistachio cake was a modest serving size. The interior is super clean, well maintained, new-ish. Gray walls, sturdy furniture, delicate accents. This place just has it going on. Great service. So if the super cool coffee shops copycats on Brick Lane are starting to bore the shit out of you(they sometimes do me, I must admit) — then take a big breath of Pretty Cuppa fresh air and enjoy a respite from the hipster storm. Its honestly just downright perfect for a cuppa tea, coffee, some cake and a place to collect your thoughts. Also, the people watching is easily second to none.
