The cocktails here are really yummy but two stars for the food. Its a buffet styled tapas restaurant where you pick up the dish you like from the bar, the stick will indicate how much each cost. The cod croquettes were quite good but the rest were mediocre with very simple, even lazy, ingredients. Just dont think its worth the price. To have a ‘full’ meal and not walk out hungry, it will probably be over 20 a person just for the food. This is definitely more of a place for those looking to drink and chat with a few snacks. The staff wasnt particularly friendly or caring, may be good or bad. You wouldnt be bothered much throughout your night. The atmosphere was very lounge-like, not sure how it is on a busy night though.

We wanted a light lunch and took advantage of the 3 Tapas for 5£ offer. You just go to the bar and pick the tidbits that look most tempting to you. I’ve lived in Granada, the home of tapas, and think I’m permitted to say that Pix are good at what they do and present some pretty decent and original tapas.

Great location right on portobello road. It was nice and busy but definitely a bit noisy and more difficult to understand each other. Food was nice, not so greasy as tapas can be sometimes.

I came here with friends since they we all weren’t hungry, so we decided to have a small snack at Pix. It’s a bar-restaurant and has a nice vibe when you are sitting in their really tiny yard(which contains only two tables and some chairs) but we all enjoyed the ambiance Food(self service/finger food/tapas) There are two types of food sizes — small(£1.95) or large(£2.95) and are placed on wooden boards. They had interesting and yummy looking Tapas and chose chicken on a stick with yogurt, Green beans with feta on bread and Spanish potato wedges. All in all the food was okay but didn’t blow me away. However, I wasn’t that hungry and I got full after my snack. The staff aren’t that attentive, quite uninterested and didn’t smile at all! One timer!

I loved the idea of pix. Come in for a glass of wine, and go to the bar to pick up some delicious tapas that is refreshed every 10 minutes. Initially I was a bit concerned that it would be a) cold, b) end up being astronomically expensive(a la bincho) but apart from the service, it was overall a pretty good experience, and for the 2 of us, 30 quid was pretty ok. The wine I had tasted a bit like a grape juice and then they forgot to add soda into my pineapple soda. As a bar, it kinda fails as I also asked for tap water 3 times and it failed to ever materialised. However, the tapas were pretty delicious– I loved the ham and cheese croquettes, fried olives, calamaris and the fig and cheese bruschetta as well as our goat cheese salad. Salted cod croquettes were too salty and the aubergine dip just tasted plain weird so I’d avoid that. I can see why there are so many pix around. I liked the food and although the service wasn’t great, the servers were friendly. It is the perfect place to go for a couple of glasses of wine and a few pecks. You know, those nights when you neither want a bar nor a restaurant(that’s quite often for me… so Pix is my kinda place.)

We stopped here for coffee while shopping in the neighbourhood. The staff was really nice and attentive and the service was prompt. We sat outside and didn’t feel rushed or pressured at all. Our two lattes were not very expensive considering the tony neighbourhood. From reading the other reviews, I would like to come back sometime and try the tapas as well!

Food Rating: 3 stars Atmosphere Rating: 4 stars Adorable place in the Notting Hill area of London. My friend and I made a pit stop for drinks and tapas after a full day of the Notting Hill Carnival. Once drinks are ordered, the tapas can be selected from a large buffet table/counter on the right side of the restaurant. Each appetizer plate costs £2.50. Overall, of the tapas we ordered, we liked the flavors but didn’t like how some of the food was not hot or cold as intended. I kept my eye at the buffet table/counter for the recently served items. Pictures of some of the tapas we had: 1) 2) 3) Overall, worth a stop by for drinks at night. I wouldn’t consider this a foodie destination though. *Note: the place is also known as Pix Bar or Pintxos.

Very nice mix between bar and restaurant: enjoyed their selection of tapas, which are presented at the bar. There is no food menu, just pick whatever you prefer from the bar. They are making sure to bring in new tapas every ten minutes or so. Be sure not to take to much on the first serving. You’ll regret it later, when new stuff is being brought out of the kitchen.

I am in two minds about Pix Pintxos. The concept is a good idea, a bar restaurant with a menu made of tapas from the Basque and Catalan regions. The problem is that this is maybe too much of a concept and Pix Pintxos falls in between a bar and a restaurant. We tried for a weekend lunch with kids, the plus was that we had a great table and lots of light; the minus was that there wasnt much for our children… point taken, next time we will try for a drink or apéritif. The food is rather good but each tapas is quite small and at 2.5 a pop it adds up rapidly(we spent 40 pounds for 2 in no time). One of the drawbacks of the way food is served(on big plates on the bar) is that plates keep on being brought to the bar as they are freshly made so you may be lucky or less so depending on what’s available(you cannot order). I like the décor but would have preferred the place to have a bit more intimate lighting, New-York style, rather than the many architect lights stuck to the wall with bright light. Lets see how it goes but I feel they will have to turn the model and offer a proper menu at some point(and larger potions). To have good Spanish food in the area, in an authentic, buzzy atmosphere, I will stick to Galicia on Portobello but I may pop in for an aperitivo at Pix quite soon.

First of all, the space is really nice… big and open with nice simple décor – grey walls with red accents, beautiful lamps hanging over the bar, tile on part of the wall. The way that it works here is that it is «buffet style». You order drinks from the wait staff(who need to attend better to the tables and get the drink orders quicker and the drinks out faster!) and then you go to the corner of the bar and grab a big plate and take tapas. Plates of tapas continue to roll out throughout the night and there is a limited offering of types of tapas. The tapas are creative – a lot of them sit on top of bread so you fill up really easily. In fact most of the tapas are either on bread or served in some type of shot glass. Hopefully this makes sense? Kind of weird because they mix in the desserts with the regular tapas so you have glasses of crème de caramel next to pork belly. Every tapas has a little stick and you put your sticks in a glass on the table and that’s how they tally the bill. Cute and gimicky. They are new, so they need to get the kinks out, especially on the service. We all agreed the food was just ehhh… and it really doesn’t serve as a place if you are looking for a meal. Nice place though for a group to get together, have some snacks and drinks and hang out. Somewhat of a place to be seen in the Knotting Hill area – I’d imagine that it will turn into more of a destination spot. They certainly didn’t rush us out of there which I appreciate. Also, the dj was good.
