Peppered all over London, Patisserie Valerie is a very popular destination for coffees and pastries, and I can easily tell you why: they’re effing delicious! Especially the pain du chocolate… I will forever be dreaming of those perfectly flakey pillows of buttery sweetness. At this particular location, the back of the shop overlooks a little bit of a park, which is quite lovely — natural light, people watching, the whole bit. They also have impeccable service and make a fantastic cappuccino, and I don’t even drink coffee! I was so charmed by it’s appeal I had one and loved every moment of it. Whether it be for a meeting, some ‘me time’ or a quick bite on the go, Patisserie Valerie is perfect for all of the above.

Es gibt hier sehr leckeres Essen. Ich war nun schon zwei mal zum Frühstück dort und wurde bei beiden Besuchen nicht enttäuscht. Die Preise sind meiner Meinung nach gerechtfertigt.

I am less in love since I’ve found out it’s a chain. I swear — everything in London is a chain, it’s driving me nuts. It looks like a cute little solo patisserie. Until I took a walk the other day and realized there was another Patisserie in the neighborhood. Cute place. Good scones. The scrambled eggs were huge.

This place was recommended by the concierge at our hotel about half a mile away. We wanted scones and tea without the full tea service and were happy to find a place that was reasonably(for expensive London) inexpensive. We walked in at around 930 and were told that their shipment of scones had not yet arrived. Disappointed, we could come back in a half an hour to see if it had arrived. But the kind counterperson said she would check to see if it had arrived after we asked again to see if what time the shipment would come in the next morning. Our luck that the shipment had just arrived! We love the clotted cream that is served in our favorite tea place in San Francisco, but were disappointed to have only butter, even though the menu said clotted cream. We didn’t make a fuss since we were in a little bit of a hurry after waiting for 20 minutes while the scones and tea were prepared. After the initial disappointment, we enjoyed the scones and the tea.

I bought some truffles here whilst on holiday with my family. We all enjoyed them, however i’m hesitiating to give it a higher rating as frankly the service was a bit shoddy. This is the only patisserie valerie i’ve been to, so i’m unsure as to whether this is the norm at the others. The truffles were put in a box which looked like there ought to be a sticker or something on top, to seal the sides in. It was a bit of a kafuffle carting them round with me as i obviosuly didn’t want the truffles to fall out. It took several attempts to get the assistants attention and communicate to her what i’d like, i got the impression she wasn’t much listening. I wouldn’t have minded, it’s only a few truffles, but i left with a box that definetly need a seal. Having said all that, the shop was full of people so perhaps i’m the only one who minded.
