Mein«Half char-grilled chicken with french fries and chasseur sauce» war geschmacklich zwar toll aber staubtrocken. Wiederholungswahrscheinlichkeit: 0%

Booked pre theatre dinner at 6PM at this place, party of 3(2adults and a child), restaurant was half full. Took them 15 minutes to get our drink, took them ONEHOUR for our meal to come out… it was 7PM already, I was so angry and asked them to bring out our dessert at the same time as our main meal– my daughter was starving and she had to wait for one hour for her meal!!! We finished our dinner at 7:20 made a rush walk to the Lyceum theatre, but when we walked out the restaurant the black waiter shouted at me think we have not paid? WT@??? I pretended don’t hear him and walked out, then I think why do I have to pay the additional service tip if the service is absolutely rubbish??? Food was OK but having said that I will never go back there neither recommend this place for pre theatre dinner, and definitely NOTFORFAMILY!!!

Excellent little spot near Covent garden. Grilled prawns with spinach were terrific and definitely need to dip bread and pomme frites in the sauce. House red wine was very acceptable. Wife liked the salad nicoise. Altogether pleasant experience. Very friendly service

Friendly accommodating staff. The food is simple but cooked well and tasty. I had a tasty sirloin steak and a fiery pepper sauce while my son had prawns that were cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the money.

Love the french onion soup a lot! And the lobster Thermidor, although it’s quite small for my appetite but it tastes great! the filet steak are great, not too chewy but quite soft. I also like their desserts! Services are great too:)

We came here for our Works Christmas Do, so credit has to be given to them to try and serve +30 of us at the same time. Due to this we had to pre order from the set festive menu. Selection of 4 dishes for each of the 3 courses was given. Nice mix catering for all. It started of well with complimentary fizzy cocktails on arrival. As we had preordered, the starters came out promptly. I had gone for the Duck Terrine with bread crisps and a berry compote. Was actually quite nice. I then had the Sea Bass to try and avoid the typical Turkey dinner which could just be sitting there for hours. The Sea Bass was ok, one of the thinnest fillets I’ve ever had. The sauce was over powered by the sheer volume of olives and the skin on the fillet was soggy to the point it was inedible and you could only just eat around it. I felt it was more of a starter than a main. We then had to wait a while for our desserts as the restaurant had soon filled up with other customers. I had gone for the cheese board. What I was given was a few crackers and one small slice of blue cheese. You can’t really call it a cheese board if it comes with only one cheese. What also appeared on the plate was the same compote I had been given in my starter. Very confusing. We weren’t given any butter or nor did it come with any grapes. A complete disappointment for me as the others who had either ordered the Crème Brûlée or the Chocolate Pot enjoyed theirs thoroughly. Maybe a place where it is hit or miss on what individual dishes you have, so in my case it wasn’t a great experience.(Visit — 17/12/2014 Lunch)

Used a bookatable deal so got 3 courses and a champagne cocktail for £22.50. Had a foie gras parfait to start which was delicious! Steak was ever so slightly overdone– but restaurant swapped my fries for dauphinoise potatoes without any fuss so I didn’t mind too much. Crème brûlée at the end was great– sugar ontop wasn’t too thick the way some places do it. Great post theatre meal on a Saturday afternoon!

We recommend this nice small place. The goat cheese salad and the Sea bass, and the onion soup were great!

As I was in London for work on a Friday, I decided to stay down an extra night at my brother’s to get some family time in. My firm’s offices are in the City, so it was just a short hop along the Central line to Holborn and about a 10 minute walk. We went for drinks elsewhere first, but then came here at about 8pm. It’s easy to find in the hussle and bussle of Covent Garden. It is very dim lighting and seemed to be a lot of couples. It did have a nice atmosphere for dates so I would recommend it if you are looking for somewhere nice to go — maybe more of a 2nd or 3rd date place than 1st date though. Prices are very reasonable for such a central and touristy area of London. I had the confit de canard and it was very very nice. Not too dry and a nice size portion. My brother had a the lamb and my mum had the half roast chicken with chasseur sauce. Both had clean plates and happy looks on their face so must have been good. Mum and I couldn’t resist a dessert, even though we were full, so shared the crème brûlée. It was very nice and creamy. Drinks wise, as I am on Dry January(not that I’ve mentioned it), I didn’t have a lot of choice so just had lime and soda. My brother sampled numerous cocktails, including the French Revolution apéritif(I was drooling, it looked so nice) and the Angel Delight(I think that was the name) after dinner cocktail. My mum decided to support me and have a cranberry juice. Our waiter was very nice and helpful, and went out of his way to help us(including fixing a wobbly table). Overall, very nice place and I will be back next time I am looking for somewhere to eat in Covent Garden. The red wine selection in particular looked great so I need to try it!

For the price the food is very good, the service is good, and it is definitely not as upscale as one would think looking in from the outside. Not too fancy a décor or presentation but we enjoyed the fois gras parfait app, the duck confit, and the sea bass. Also had a decent wine selection.

Decent prices and food for its location — tourist central. They offer a good pre/post theatre deal which is good value for money and you will leave content. Gets very busy but the bustle is well managed and its a great place if you want to stalk the happy hours of the west end. Tried and tested and think it a darn sight better than most chain restaurants Covent garden boasts.

I did not have a good experience at this restaurant and although the food was ok I would not recommend going here at all. We waited 15 minutes before I had to prompt the waiter to bring us a wine list and were sneered at when we requested tap water to go alongside the bottle of wine. After our food order was eventually taken we waited 45 minutes for our starter to arrive. The food was fine, £24.95 for three courses is a fairly standard price for a Covent Garden set menu so the value was ok. Perhaps the worst part of the meal was at the end. The restaurant’s card machines weren’t working so the waiter suggested we go to the cashpoint and withdraw cash to pay our bill. When we got up from the table to do this, he told us we were not allowed to leave without leaving ID and we could not both leave the restaurant together. After having tried to pay twice on my card and their systems failing, I found the suggestion that we might not return to pay highly insulting. The manager did nothing to rectify this situation, only apologising for the inconvenience of having to go to a cash point. I would not recommend this restaurant– terrible service and average food.

We were searching for a place to eat on Guy Fawkes Day and ended at Palm Court Brasserie. Walking in, it looks like a posh bar/gastropub with very dim lighting and loud talking. Service: Our waiter was very nice and answered all of our questions. Ambience: very dark with candle lighting and pretty loud. Dress smartly — it seems like Palm Court is dominated by business people… Food: we unfortunately missed the pre-theater menu, which is a really awesome deal. Instead, we ordered individual dishes, which surprisingly impressed me. I had the special — a beautifully done mahi mahi over a bed of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Paired with a glass of crisp, Marlborough Sauvignon blanc, it was just what I needed to fill a hungry stomach. For dessert, our waiter suggested the banoffee pie, I normally love banoffee, but I couldn’t take more than 3 bites of this because of how sweet and heavy it was… And the crust was just so dense! I would suggest this restaurant to those who are going for the pre-theater menu because the food is worth that price but not that of the regular menu.

Found this lovely French restaurant on Unilocal, pulled up the menu and reviews and found no surprises. Our reservation(booked on-line) was in their system and we were seated immediately. The décor was wonderful as was the service throughout our meal. We both had the French onion soup and enjoyed it immensely as we did the steak for 2 cooked to medium rare perfection. Substituting the cauliflower for the green beans proved no problem. The Rose was chilled to perfection. Dessert was also great. Dress says formal but we noticed many more casually attired folk. I love the location of this place — seemed right in the heart of London’s nightlife. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all comers.

My friend had a Toptable deal. The set menu was nice and reasonably priced. Very nice for a Sunday afternoon. The staff was great and attentive. I did not feel rushed to finish my food, pay the bill, and leave. The atmosphere was great, I felt as if I was back in Paris again.

Probably one of the greatest ambiances and service that i’ve ever experienced. I’m not really a gourmet foodie so i have no idea if my steak frites were better than good. What i remember is that the staff were very attentive without being pushy. In fact they let us have the table 3 hours and never rushed us to leave. If I were in Covent Garden and wanted a really great experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to come here again.

The décor is strongly reminiscent of a Café Rouge(but done well), and the central location is a bonus. The staff were very attentive, and let us take as much time as we wanted in true French style. This was very impressive considering all tables were full on a Sunday evening, and there was a queue out the door. Food was amazing. I ordered a la carte, and wasn’t disappointed. The fried tiger prawns could have done with a touch more spice, but the huge portion of grilled duck breast was Perfect with a rich caramelised sauce. For dessert, the passion fruit delice struck a perfect balance between creamy and tart. Yum.

I came here with a couple of people, a few weeks ago. I have to say, it wasn’t a memorable meal(apart from the company, of course!). Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad. It was just run-of-the-mill. We had a Toptable deal, so the food was reasonably priced. The service was slow(although it was busy inside, so perhaps that was the reason), the food took a while and quite honestly, I couldn’t remember what I’d had when I left that night, let alone now… so on that basis, I don’t think I would be back. Even looking at the menu now to jog my memory… I don’t remember what I had!

I liked it here. Perhaps it was the company, but the ambience and food definitely helped to make it one of the nicest London restaurants I’ve eaten in. The place was absolutely buzzing, but despite being packed the service still managed to be speedy. I ate chateaubriande for the first time in my life, which was cooked to perfection and fun to share, and an absolute bargain with my TasteCard discount. I’m sure I shall return in the not too distant future.

Palm Court Brasserie is true Parisian style. Situated in the heart of Covent Garden where there are more restaurants than sense you have so much to choose. Not being a big fan of French cuisine I took a while to try this place. I am glad I did. My friends and I went for a meal the other night & really enjoyed our evening at Palm Court. The service was slow at first, but once we got served the service improved a lot. We chose the 3 course meal, the Chicken & Risotto was particularly good and my friends fish looked beautifully presented. There was also a good wine list to accompany your meal. I really cannot fault this place at all.

If you love French food you will certainly LOVELOVE Palm Court Brasserie. Popular with shoppers and theatre goers, the restaurant serves superb French food in lovely surroundings. Situated opposite Covent Garden Piazza, the restaurant adds a touch of Parisian flair to the area. With the art deco posters, stunning chandelier and staff dressed in classic black and white, I always feel like I have stepped back into 1930s Paris whenever I dine here. I first went to Palm Court for a friend’s birthday and I have been going ever since. I had my own birthday dinner there three years ago and the staff were very patient when we couldn’t decide what to order! The food is excellent and I have always been more than satisfied with whatever I’ve ordered. My favourite dishes are definately the rump of lamb and the seared prawns. I never have room for dessert but friends always seem to be more than happy with the dessert cocktails. I have heard such good things about the Angel’s Treat(rum, amaretto and cream) that I will definately be ordering it next time!
