A nice little pub with reasonable prices, yummy cocktails and decent American-style food. With £5 cocktails 5−7pm and 2 for 1 burgers on Tuesdays, it makes a cheap midweek night out. Peanut butter on a hamburger though? Hmmmm… not convinced. The fried chicken was alright, but not £7 nicer than KFC, despite being £7 more expensive.

There aren’t too many great pubs in the centre of Ealing, but this is probably my favourite. Has just the right vibe — chilled out, bit grungy, decent food, fantastic atmosphere, beer garden and live music.

This is a nice pub but I was a bit shocked by the price of 4.15 a pint. That’s the most I’ve payed in a regular London pub. The beer, Rivet Catcher, was very good though so I guess it was worth it. There are a few screens about but they don’t interfere too much with the pleasant feel of the place.

Come hungry — very good food. They have a well-balanced selection of drinks. There will be something for everyone, even people like me who are picky because of food allergies. They also serve mulled wine during the holidays. Mine was a little bitter that day — like maybe they had started with a port wine or something — but I was glad to drink up. More pubs should serve mulled wine when it’s cold out, in my opinion. The staff is very good, but they need more of them; the queue can get a bit long on a Friday night. I’d like a bit more light to make menus easier to see, too.

One of the nicer pubs Ealing has to offer, with a good selection of real ales(usually Doombar, Tribute and Pride amongst others). It is basically just another Mitchells and Butlers pub, but it is spacious, the staff polite and there’s a decent food menu. They also have a covered outdoor smoking area with heat lamps which is a bonus. They did a cider festival last summer, so look out for that when it comes around. You’ll find every iteration of cider imaginable!

Not a bad little local put in the area. I came here last week to meet a few friends. The only bad point is that we were starving, and they stopped serving food after 3pm. Bizarre, we had to leave for that reason. Who stops serving food at 3pm? But i have to imagine that it was just for that day and not a regular occurrence. The reason I give it 4 stars, is that the loos were clean. A rarity in London! I“m so used to seeing dead animals coming up from the pipes, that having a fresh bleached smell was a nice surprise!

The north star’s my favorite pub in ealing, it’s got a cool atmosphere/clientele and the gardens nice and intimate. The drink selection is quite comprehensive for a chain pub, and the foods not bad. I definately reccommend the north star.

This place reminds me of my favourite pub, the Volunteer on Baker St. Same chain I guess? Anyway, superior range of beers, full of funky people but not too weird I couldn’t take my Mum and Dad there for dinner. I’ve had some big nights in here and love it. The only issues are bar service is quite slow and if you just want a quiet pint and chat you’re better off going around the corner to the Kings Arms. Outside sheltered area for smokers, they do meals and have a dj spinning some nights too. Loads of positives, very few negatives.

I had the BEST veggie roast dinner here a few Sundays ago. It was massive and had colcannon, roast potatoes, nut roast, a beetroot chutney type thing, mixed veggies, yorkshire pudding and gravy. Yum! Only quibbles about this place is the horrid smell when you first enter the bar(which incidentally someone else has commented on) and the price of the beer. They’ve got quite a few nice premium ones at premium prices.

Of the various drinking holes that are on or around Ealing Broadway this is far and away the best, with good beer and food. It gets very busy most nights and adding the DJ that occasionally appears by the door sometimes makes it impossible to hold a conversation, but they do have a nice outside area(with heatlamps) and some cover to decamp to when it gets a bit much. They do random offers on some nights, with their wine club currently offering cut price bottles on Wednesdays(?). A great place to meetup with people before wandering to further off places and nice for an afternoon of sitting around.

Trotzdem meine Empfehlung für Ealing: The North Star

Fridays and Saturday nights — come here for beer and beats. The DJ spins soul, the beer is affordable, and if you want appetizers(or regular eats, even), stop by! I think the kitchen closes around 10ish though. The place is simple, laid-back, and can easily get crowded. But the people are friendly, and it’s a good place to just chill after a long day.

The North Star is worth a visit, although it can be very busy at weekends. Like another reviewer said, you might struggle to get a sear if you arrive after 6, but it’s a good place to start a night off because it’s got a good atmosphere, and it isn’t open late. Plus you can often get a table outside. There are games strewn about for quieter days, and they do good sharer food deals during the week, plus offers on wine from time to time. Their Sunday roast is hit and miss: mine was served cold, but my mate ordered the same thing and loved it. But then she did later admit to fancying the barman. The Norf Star has got a bit of style, especially compared to the Town House across the road, but perhaps they think that they’re a tiny bit more chic than they really are. The drinks are quite expensive, and last time I was there they have an aftershave guy in the toilets on the weekend. This feels a bit weird in what is, essentially, a traditional pub with bells on.

This cool little pub is probably the best bar in Ealing Broadway. It’s narrow entrance is very misleading, and could easily be missed(even without the few pints beforehand!). It’s décor is usually fun, having previously had animals(and obscenities) made from gloves hung all over the walls, but last time I was there it was quite boring in comparison. It has an outside area that’s really nice in the summer, but this is another pub that gets seriously busy and you can find yourself standing for the night if you’re not in there before 6ish. The only bad thing about the pub is that the service can sometimes be poor, and one side of the bar they rarely serve from but don’t let people know this! So don’t stand at the side of the bar nearest the entrance!

First of all, lets start by saying how great a pub this is. There’s a decent selcetion of beers and the food is pretty good too. It’s in a very convenient location Right on Ealing Broadway Station on the Broadway and they have a nice covered outdoors area from where they occasionaly do BBQs. Downsides would probably include the prices and the fact that it can get really crowded at the weekends. Also, for those of you who aren’t too keen on loud music in pubs, this might be one to steer clear of — its sometimes a bit of an effort to make yourself heard. I’m not certain but i seem to remember that the only beers they had were lagers. A good selection, as mentioned above, but i can’t remember seeing any hand-pulled beers.

If you leave Ealing Broadway train station, turn left, and walk about 30 seconds, the North Star pub will be right in front of you. This makes it a good meeting place in Ealing. I like the laid-back cool of the place. There’s lots of well-worn wood on floors and walls, and disparate types of rustic, comfy furniture. There’s a number of beers on tap, and often some interesting imports(they carried Sleeman’s, a Canadian beer, for a while, and always have some Belgian fruit beers). Their wine list is extensive. They also have some decent wines on tap if you’re not too snooty. The food here is really good, and I’ve had everything from bar snacks to brunch to full meals. Quite a few vegetarian options. I’ll admit that I did have one bad dining experience here where my burger took forever and had to be sent back once it came, but the rest of the time it’s been good. There are three rooms, all similar in vibe and furnishings. They’ve got a covered outdoor area in the alley beside the pub. There’s no greenery, just picnic benches, but they run a barbeque out there in the summer. I’ve come to this pub on my own a couple of times when I’m been free during weekdays: it’s a good place to have a drink and read a book, do a bit of work, or people-watch passers-by on the Broadway during the day. On weekend evenings a DJ spins up in the front room, and the place can get very busy at those times. One criticism is that they sometimes don’t seem to have enough bar staff on to handle the impressive crowds they draw, and getting served can take a while. I think it’s a 21-and-over pub.
