I got horrible horrible food poisioning at this place and so did my friend. it was awful and i would never go back!!! it was Salmonella to be exact. when my doctor asked me where I had eaten he said that this was the 3rd case he’s seen come out of Noodle King. The friend that had gone with me was just visiting for a week and he didn’t get to see any of the city. We ended up spending his entire holiday in bed so sick. Run!!!

Alright, glad I gave Noodle King a second chance. I came in for some carb comfort after a dumpy day and ordered the Singapore fried noodles. Unlike my first visit, the noodles came out hot less than five minutes after I placed my order, and the plate was still buzzing with the wok sizzle. Good amount of heat from the curry powder, and the meats even tasted fresher than my last meal here. Portion sizes are still more than ample, and it was only 4.90. Good to have a Chinese staple in my neighbourhood!

We were filming a short film nearby and needed to cater for 8 people as cheaply as possible(without going student about it!), so we placed an order with Noodle King. I ordered in the morning and specified a collection time of 2.30pm, stating that I would pay in cash on collection. It takes a lot of trust to accept an order like this, but they took it, and called 15 minutes before the agreed time to double check that I would definitely be coming to collect the order. When I arrived it was all ready and packaged, and we received free prawn crackers and what I think was a miso soup or something similar. The containers kept the food lovely and hot even for the fifteen minute walk I had and handing the food out to everyone, and it was tasty. Pros: Friendly, efficient service; generous portion sizes; great price Cons: Only accept cash, satay not as sticky or nutty as were expecting/hoping, they don’t deliver

This place is legendary. All those hangovers caused by too many cans of K cider has a CURE and that cure is found at 187 Bethnal Green Rd, you guys. Stepping inside the walls of Noodle King is like entering an abandoned mess hall for the low ranks that has been overtaken by east london hipsters and families on a budget. The walls are decorated with brightly shining pictures of the dishes to simplify your decision-making process. Ideal for take-out. Food does not get cheaper, and you get a lot of it. A LOT. Back when I had zero money I would buy a meal here that lasted me for three days. Heaven for hangovers and hobos. PS get the duck with egg fried rice it’s classic.

Big yummy dishes & cheap prices particularly in this increasingly trendy area. However be prepared to part with cash only, they do not accept debit or credit cards. If you are on a budget this is the place to go. From the outside it may look at bit dodgy, but Chinese culinary happiness awaits within… The seating consists of long benches and tables a-la Wagamama. But this is a very down to earth eatery frequented by locals. Mains run around £5.50 at most, starters around £3, and the portion sizes are HUGE! They also serve bottled beers at a very reasonable £3 and draft pints of Carlsberg for around the same price. The dishes are usually served quite quickly. Service is pretty decent. Don’t expect exotic ambience, this is a no-frills, value for money venue. I particularly recommended it for hangovers.

Woke up this hungover this morning(fine, afternoon) in desperate need of greasy noodles so my husband and I headed down the road to noodle king. I read the reviews beforehand so I wasn’t exactly expecting Hakkasan but it couldn’t have been much worse. We ordered spring rolls, dumplings, pork fried rice, and noodles with beef. Service was fast and everything’s cheap. So far so good. Pork fried rice, not so good– tasted like MSG and urinal cake, I took one bite and spit it out. The spring rolls were like a bad version of the kind you get in the frozen food aisle at Waitrose. I Should’ve stopped there but I my hunger outweighed my standards so I dove into the noodles. Flavor was… edible? the best thing we ordered besides one extra large coke but I don’t think that’s really saying much. By the time we got back to the flat, drew the blinds and settled into a movie my stomach started to hurt. Bad, but in a food poison-y way, more like stabbing pains. I felt like Violet in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and, momentarily, was seriously concerned about exploding. I whimpered and curled into the fetal position to garner sympathy and a back rub. About an hour ago with my pain level escalating, I started researching rare and terminal stomach conditions on webMD. While I was plotting the quickest route to the hospital, my stomach lurched — in the nick of time I made it to the bathroom and projectile vomited up every last bit of that terrible, terrible meal. Relief. Needless to say I won’t be returning, I doubt if I’ll even have the courage to walk by for some time. Shudder.

You wake up in your closet, lying on top of a pile of socks and assorted pieces of lint, covered in a blanket constructed of falafel takeaway wrapping and receipts for those twelve midori sours you cannot have actually bought the night before(like, seriously… who buys midori sours). A quick glance at your iPhone, which is hanging on for dear life at a 1% battery level, tells you that it’s 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. Your body is not currently responding to your brain’s attempts to will it into a standing position, but you know you are craving salt, grease, and noodles, and you need to get it fast. In this sort of dire situation, which inevitably happens far more than one would care to admit, there is only one solution: Noodle King. No, it’s not gourmet Chinese cooking. Yes, the food probably has less nutrition than a Wispa bar covered in a piece of lettuce. But, by golly, it is fast, it is cheap, it is salty, it is everything. With nearly 70 items on the menu, ranging from chow mein to satay to curry fried rice, a dish at Noodle King’s not an entirely bad way to spend around £4. For especially dysfunctional mornings, during which you don’t want to be seen even at this establishment, they do takeaways rather quickly, and pack it in a pretty hefty box so nothing spills or gets cold too fast. You can even ask them to separate out the noodles and the soup broth if you opt for the noodle soups. As other reviewers mentioned below, they accept cash only. Additionally, they have some weird hours(they open pretty late in the morning/early afternoon, and shut in the middle of the day between lunch and dinner… and I think they close up for the night at 8pm). Despite the eccentricities, slightly awkward operating hours, and wooden benches that take a toll on your backside after a while, I continue to return to Noodle King on a(embarrassingly for me) regular basis. Because I believe in Noodle King. And because it’s closer to me than Tesco.

The food is always decent and the prices are good. Wouldn’t go out of my way to go here but if you’re in the area it’s good for a quick munch.

I’m kind of addicted to their satey:) Each time I’m saying it’ll be the last time I’m eating this huge mountain of greasy noodles, but whenever I need a quick, cheap and relatively tasty meal, I go for it! They keep on putting the prices up, but it’s still worth it. Plus the staff is always nice and smiley.

I’m a fan. That needs to be put into context though! If you’re hungry and after a cheap local eat, look no further. It’s really basic and the servings are huge and tasty — but nothing flash. All in all it’s great value for money. Plus it’s really quiet during the day, so is a good place to perch with the paper and have a big feed. Noodle King is not a destination, but if you live in the area and are after a cheap meal then definitely give it a go.

I’ve eaten here on and off for years. At its best it is OK and once or twice has been poor. In terms of value for money it can’t be faulted. The flavours are not the strongest, and could be considered bland — but small pots of chilli sauce are on hand if pepping up is required. Service is generally efficient and in my experience the food has usually been served piping hot. I have seen newcomers ordering from the menu as if it is a typical Chinese, but the portions are so huge that a single rice/meat or noodles/meat combination is more than enough. Lets put it this way — if you ate here every day(not advised) then your weekly food budget would be less than £35 and you wouldn’t need to spend a thing on fuel for cooking or washing up liquid.

It is difficult not to have mixed feelings with this place. On one hand is just the perfect place to go with your mates(don’t take your partners unless they agreed to marry you already) and devour massive quantities of noodles or rice. The soups are good, yet not very tasty or aromatic. Carrot juice is a winner and so is tap water(refreshing, free and ecofriendly). The vibe is extremely friendly, the service is fast and obliging, the prices are startling low and doggy boxes are avalialable in case you are so crazy or desperate to take the leftovers home(hey we all done it) In fact with food you often get what you pay for and here is the drawback. All the food taste about the same and by the 3rd time you go there you will be sick of it. And is not particularly a divine taste, just greasy noodles and soy sauce. The food is absolutely improvable. Here is an idea. If it is your turn to invite for dinner to a big group take them there saying that rumour has it that this place is amazing. You will pay less than £5 per person and at the end of it all you can just claim the rumour meant amazing… amazingly grim

I feel the prices of stuff in their reflect the quality of the food. I couldn’t agree with Inspirationjunkie more about the noodles being cold and flaccid and tasteless. I would actually rather eat in Nandos or McDonalds that here, which is seriously saying something. The portions are huge, everything is greasy, the service is a bit hit and miss and there isn’t anything overly memorable about paying the place a visit other than to find yourself uttering the words«never again» as your palate will feel violated by their culinary offerings.

I’m a huge fan of Noodle King! Granted it’s not the best looking or most luxurious of restaurants, but the food is cheap and mostly delicious. There is always a friendly vibe in this place, whether you visit at lunchtime when it can be relatively empty, or dinnertime when it’s positively overflowing with hungry customers. The benches can be a little uncomfortable, but the food is so moreish you’ll probably wolf it down and wont be sitting for very long. The staff are always friendly and effiecient. They also offer a take away service.

A cheap eat for the Brick Lane area for when you are tired of the curry. For groups this is a real social place to go for food with everyone sitting on long tables and benches. The food is average and you have to find the good dishes in the menu(Number 41!) They only accept cash — no cards. Does what it says on the tin.

I used to live on Brick lane and so Noodle King was my local noodle place. My flatmates and I went at least once a week because of its inexpensive menu– everything is under £5 and you can get a passable glass of wine for under £3. Since leaving the East End, we all banned ourselves from the restaurant– the portions are too big and greasy and due to their price, it is simply too easy to gorge yourself until you feel sick. Between the 8 of us, we worked our way through the entire menu and so I can recommend the ho fun dishes, the noodle soups and the big plates of fried rice. I can say with some experience that the seafood is poor and should be avoided at all costs.

I used to live round the corner from this restaurant, and it was always best frequented when drunk, skint or in effort to avoid curry although many better non-curry restaurants have sprung up now at the top end of Bethnal Green road. I would avoid this place like the plague. Cold, undercooked meats adorn their flaccid noodles and it couldn’t really be less authentic Chinese if they tried. The tables are lined are like in a prison canteen, the colours are garish and fadded, laminated photos of the food cling to the outer walls which reminds me of anglo-cuisine marketing on the continent. Unless in extremely desperate circumstances or in an effort to re-create student days of old, best to give this one a miss. Forget Noodle King, more like Noodle Pauper.

Noodle King is amazing. Big communal tables and lightning-quick service, this place is a true gem. Based on Bethnal Green Road, just a stone’s throw from Brick Lane, it’s extensive menu encompasses all the regulars — starters, noodle soups, and more stir-fry noodles that you could poke a stick at. Servings are HUGE — I often share a dish with a friend as they are a challenge to get through solo! And did I mention no dish costs over £4? Sure, Noodle King is not somewhere you’d take a date as it’s décor is pretty basic, but it’s super-cheap, the atmosphere is always buzzing and the food is consistently tasty. Note: Noodle King do not accept cards, so make sure you’ve got some cash on you!

Huge, huge portions, really fast service and dirt cheap. This place is always packed. There are pictures on the walls of all the dishes — which is usually a big turn off — but actually with a menu packed full of tons of variations on noodles it’s actually really helpful and the food is honestly great. Perfect if you can’t be bothered cooking or just fancy something speedy and filling. It’s eat in or take away.

This is a place in a middle of nowhere as there is nothing before or after on the sidewalk but it is not far from Brick Lane. When the evening starts, the restaurant becomes slowly but surely to be full. Families, friends or simply just a couple who want to eat something quickly but nice. Indeed, there are several large tables with benchs and sometimes you have to share it. From a menu, you need to choose your meal and order by giving the numbers of the dishes you want(there are listed). More than quickly, your plate which is always an enormous portion is served before you had time to seat properly. The staff is very quiet as well as the place, people are coming there to enjoy a nice meal for nothing as you can have a course for £3.99. Excellent before partying or simply before going home and sleeping.
