I’ve been looking for a nice place to get my hair trimmed up(I have a very short pixie cut.) As a New Yorker in London I was having a hard time finding somewhere worth the price. I spent £40 at another salon on one«trim»(I got charged for a women’s haircut even though all they used was a buzzer.) and was not happy. Finally I had a friend who came here and told me they have 9£ haircuts for men and 12£ for women’s. I was a bit nervous at first when I saw the shop, with so little hair I didn’t want to end up shaving my head because I got a bad cheap haircut. Then I walked in and met Yanis. You don’t need an appointment from the looks the whole place is just walk ins. The vibe is relaxed and younger clients/barbers and stylists. Yanis took me over to a chair, knew immediately what I was looking for(he seemed to be the only barber in London who knew the reference of the«Rosemary’s Baby» haircut) and helped me right away. He was super cool and we had great conversation while he trimmed and re-faded my short locks. In the end I was only charged 9£ but I would gladly have paid more. Definitely coming back! I wish I could take this place back to New York!

For Bloomsbury this is a cracking deal, the staff are friendly, it’s good, quick, cheap and now my go to place near the office for having clippers nibbling my skull hairs.

Now I know I just rated a discount hair cutter as 5⁄5 but I think this works. This is the first thing that I’ve found in London that would have been more expensive to purchase back in San Francisco. That’s worth +1 for starters. The staff was friendly and happy, there was no wait time, and the haircut I received looked great. The only thin that could have made it even better would be a more talkative barber to entertain me while I sat there. I don’t know who cut my hair, but I went n looking or Greg since I heard he does a great job. My experience goes to show that maybe they all do!

When I first got to London I started looking for places to have my hair cut and went to quite a few trendy expensive places which weren’t even that good for the money I was paying. I was desperate There had to be a good place out there in London for me!!! I then came across Mr. Topper’s at Soho and even though my first experience there wasn’t very impressive(an inexperienced girl cutting my hair with shaky hands not really knowing what she was doing) I decided to give it a second try because I had noticed that some of the other hairdressers were quite good and the price was only 7 pounds for a men’s haircut. I was queuing at the door and got lucky enough to get assigned to this Aussie blond girl who did a brilliant job. I loved it exactly what I wanted and she now and then made some suggestions which looked great! So it is really a matter of luck getting a good hairdresser to cut your hair on your first visit, but once you know a good one you can ask for him every time you go. Oh you don’t get your hair washed but hey, you only pay 7 pounds and the music is great!

Mr Topps is a unisex hairdresser where you do not have to book an appointment. Short hair cuts start from £6 where longer hair cuts start from around £15. The stylists always seem to be in a jovial mood and none of my friends have complained after getting their hair done here. Be warned it does get busy and loud.

A great concept, mens cut £6.a ladies wash and cut hair was cut by a stylist who told me the week before he was working in a salon charging he said to me i now charge £6 i do the same work, but now i make great money, instead of starvin alive. their motto great cuts forever there are only two haircuts Good and Bad. at Mr toppers they queue at the door, but the wait is not long as they have a team of at least six haircutters. not 5star 6star.

If you’re not bothered by quick in-and-out service, and don’t want to pay more than £6 for your haircut, this London chain is for you. This branch in Soho is staffed by about 6 people, usually pretty young Australian girls. It’s not fancy, they don’t fuss over you, but if all you need is a number 2 all over, then you’re sorted.

I sometimes get the feeling that im the only girl in town who visits Mr Toppers, but then maybe the fact that Mr is in title probably leads most to believe that its male only. In fact its unisex and a great place to get a hair cut for 6 pound. Ive been having my hair trimmed here for a couple of years and although there is often a queue you don’t normally need to wait more then quarter of an hour before your seen. Located just off Compton Street Mr Toppers is mainly staffed by pretty young Australian who like nothing better then a good chit chat. Although don’t get too comfortable, for 6 pound your hair cut is not likely to last more then ten minutes. Obviously for if your after highlights and a blow dry then your not going to get it here, so stick to Tony & Guys. If however, you’re a girl after a quick cut with not too much fuss then Mr Toppers is perfect. If your guy, then you will probably be able to get most kinds of cuts here.

Why spend hours and a fortune on your haircut and leave the salon in a state of intoxication from cosmetic fumes, when you can get a quick, professional job in a healthier environment and at a budget price? This is what I discovered a few years ago when a friend recommended Mr Topper’s Soho shop, perfect for when I need a last-minute job between an appointment and the next. For someone like me, who works in central London and hops from an appointment to the next, timing and location are perfect, and I can get a dry cut for a mere £6! On Fridays and Saturdays, as you can imagine, the queue extends outside the shop but don’t be put off, as it actually moves very fast. Mr Topper’s have branches all over central London. Recently I’ve tried one nearer home, in Camden Town quieter(better music too) but the service is just as professional. How do they manage to avoid the nasty smells? They don’t do dyes or perms, that’s how. So if you require more than a cut, with or without shampoo, you’d better go elsewhere and brave the consequences.
