Moxon’s Fishmongers

Moxon’s is a traditionally styled fishmongers close to South Kensington tube. They’re a really friendly and helpful bunch who seem to know everything about everything about fish. They sell a great varied selection of fresh fish. They sell some interesting ingredients (various herbs, spices and butters) to cook with your fish if you want to experiment and try something different or you’re new to cooking fresh fish. They also give you advice on the best way to cook the fish you’re buying and they’ll fillet it for you on request.
It’s a lovely fish mongers with great quality fish offering a knowledgeable and helpful service. It’s more exensive than your local supermarket but the the difference in quality is obvious in taste and service.

The Moxon’s in South Ken is fairly new and I’m so happy they’ve opened here. It’s a traditional fishmongers with a generous choice of super-​fresh seafood that is received daily and piled high on stacks of crushed ice.
The fishmongers are really helpful, telling you all about the new shiny catches that they have in, how best to cook them and I’ve even had wines recommend to me. They’ll fillet whole fish for you and do all the yucky bits so all that’s left for you is the cooking. The seafood here is of such a high quality that you won’t need much but a few herbs to flavour it. I last bough some roe scallops, which were mouth wateringly good.
Moxon’s is also just near the tube, perfect for popping into for fish that you want to cook that evening.
