I love this place. Real taste of home! I just wish they could still do the steak challenge because I never got round to attempting the competition!

All you can eat ribs on a Sunday evening! Always good fun for a group of friends or a family. Ribs were a bit dry both times I went though.

I’ve passed by this restaurant many times on the way to Cineworld and probably had the look of ‘ick’ each time I passed by it. It looked strangely American chain like(Applebees/TGIFridays) especially with the Native American theme but South African owned? I suppose it’s a similar confusing experience with places like PF Changs! Anyhow, I asked my bf to pick a place for dinner and on a whim he picked Spur. I have to admit I was very underwhelmed by the look of the menu and took a while to decide. My bf ordered the steak and ribs combo and I ended up with a half order of Buffalo wings. Service was super prompt and seemed like there weren’t any issues with language as the other reviews mentioned. It’s a half open kitchen and I was spying on the other orders to see if I would have food fomo but only made me dread my food a bit more after seeing some of the burgers. They really don’t look appetizing at all. When our order was delivered, it really looked okay! I normally don’t take photos of food at chain restaurants but I had to provide some proof and it wasn’t bad at all. I tried a bit of my bf’s steak and ribs and whilst they’re not the best in town — it’s pretty good for the price you pay. My buffalo wings, not many places I’ve found to make proper Buffalo wings but this place was definitely better than others I’ve tried. Also, it comes with blue cheese sauce! I’d really give this place 3.5 stars — not quite a 4 for me but definitely wouldn’t mind coming back again.

I was very surprised at the spur in southside, food was awesome! Service very rough, but no complaints at the food. Will definitely return when we are in the mood for meat. Kx

Sadly going downhill. Buns were stale and the famous sauces tasted so watered down that it had put me off my food. The drink fountain Pepsi was flat and too sweet. I used to enjoy Spur since it reminds me of home but I sadly would not return to this one. Try Nandos across the hall — also Saffa, but they get it right every time.

Awful awful food-and small portions. i ordered a rump steak with chips and coleslaw-the coleslaw tasted extremley cheap, it had obviously been bought in bulk from the cheapest supplier they could get and it tasted as such. Horrible, i could have tasted better at poundland. steak had a nice flavour but it was burnt and had gristle. So called seasoned chips were normal cheap frozen chips deep fried. The in house BBQ tasted like that really cheap ketchup you get in discount shops or cheap chicken and chip shops. My partners chicken burger was tasteless. Also-this place is always empty, i came in here as all the resturants were at full capacity due to a new film coming out at the cinema next door but this place was almoost empty and now i know why. What a WASTE of money. if you want a proper burger try eds diner opposite or nandos.

ah steak and grill is delicious but the down fall which for most restaurants is its a tiny bit expensive on the menu it was £4.00 for potato and cheese but the food is great

I had been to this spur restaurants many times before but stopped going after some just ok meals. But I have to say things are back to how they should be! Great food, steaks cooked to how we wanted, and good service. Great place for a birthday, all the waiters come out singing there happy birthday some with an African drum. They also do two for one steak night on Mondays and other deal days during wife week. The only criticisms were a few of the staffs English could have been slightly better. Top Tip: if u don’t have kids choose a table away from the kids play area can get abit noisy.

Tasty food, great specials, good value for money and friendly staff. Bit of a pain with parking sometimes but overall would recommend a look for anyone who hasn’t tried it. Yummy

Spur… Spur, what is there to say about Spur? Unfortunately not much that is good. I don’t like writing a bad review because I understand there are people that work there and own the place and they have feelings. If you are one of those people, please look away now. Like the other person’s review, we stopped in because we were going to see a movie at the cinema and thought a quick burger before the show sounded like a fun idea. Not fun. Service was awful because our waitress hardly spoke English and when I asked for a small addition to my burger she had to bring the manager over to sort it out. It still came out wrong but that didn’t really matter since what came out was barely edible and I’m not entirely sure it could be called food. It was mostly burnt grease on sawdust. I worked in the restaurant industry for 7 years and I can tell you it really is a talent to be that bad as most of the food these types of chains purchase comes all ready to go, you just need to heat it and stack it. My husband had the exact same experience but being classically British he just wanted to pay and get out without a word. However my American nature(probably the same one that makes me want to change something on my burger) couldn’t let it pass, I did speak to the manager who apologised and took 50p off the bill. At least it showed they were nice people if not hopeless at running a restaurant. But me and the hubby had stomach pains from the tough food and we were pleasantly surprised to not have had worse. So you must imagine my surprise when I went back to Southside this weekend to see the HP7P2 film and saw the place pretty full with families. Spur has a play gym for children and it made me sad. I can only imagine the people that were there must not care what goes into their kids’ little tummies as long as they played nicely and left mummy alone with her friends they could eat all the chicken nuggets they could choke down. Eat at your own risk.

Has anyone else seen one of these restaurants around the UK? Spur has all the atmosphere of a franchise family eating hole, that should be as ubiquitous as Maccy D’s or Pizza Hut, but I’ve never seen another one. A bit of research reveals there are about 10 of these Native American themed, carnivore friendly locations around the country, but I’ve just failed to see them. It’s no big loss. Spur specializes in large portions of red meat, served with fried sides. Perfectly fine if you like that sort of thing. There are plenty of day based eat all you can offers, that while probably offer excellent value for money, will clog arteries and add notches to belts. It’s family friendly(lots of cartoon kids with feather headdresses) but still has cocktails and beer on the menu for the parents. Which is nice… Service is fast and friendly, but the joviality seems to have been drilled into the staff by evil, soulless training tapes and mental checklists rather than a genuine love of the work. Unsurprising really. Have kids that love meat? Take ‘em here.

Came here on impulse for a couple of reasons: 1. I’ve been to Spur steakhouses in Mauritius and they were very nice. 2. It was an easy option, just outside the cinema I had booked some seats at. I regretted my choice quite soon after arriving at the restaurant as a series of problems occured right after we sat down: — The fire alarm started going off at 2 minute intervals. — Despite being assured we would be served promptly and in time for our movie, service was slow and we exited the restaurant 10 minutes into the movie. — The kitchen managed to confuse medium with extra crispy carbon. — The food was very oily If I were the manager at this restaurant, I’d have given a discount or a round of drinks at least given the fire alarm issue alone, no such luck. Avoid!

True South African Spur in the heart of London, selling the exact same menu as that back home, with the all important and delicious Spur sauce. A taste of home for all South Africans in London. This is a traditional family restaurant in South Africa and most people growing up in South Africa woudl have celebrated at leats one birthday at Spur and had many a family meal there and possibly even were members of the Spur Kids club. This is an American themed steak house, with a great variety to its menu, from burgers and steaks, to salads and chicken pieces. Tasty meals for all meat lovers. Well worth a visit to try out something new. Definitely must try the Spur sauce on your chips and onion rings. Its what Spur is known for.

This is a typical chain restaurant from South Africa but the Native Indian theme. We absolutely love this place and it holds a special place in our. uhmm stomach! They’ve got great deals on their food during the week, including steaks and burgers. Be brave and go for the big massive steak challenge where you have to finish a steak and all that comes with it and they won’t charge you a penny. Photos are on the wall, check it out! The food tastes great, the service is great and they know how to keep their customers happy. Try the ribs with their special sauce! Why are you still reading this, go on, you know you’re mouth is watering go on!

This restaurant was really great. The atmosphere was really nice, if not a little dark with some authentic teepees and masks etc on the walls. Kids around the restaurant were wearing cardboard indian headgear and there seemed to be lots of colouring sheets and activities on the tables. The food itself was really great and tasty and when walking past I noticed all you can eat ribs for £13!!!(mondays and thursdays only!) The meals are quite good value and the staff were very accomodating towards allergies and generally helpful and enthusiastic.

Spur is a South-African chain of restaurant where they serve wonderful beef steaks, flamed grilled style If you are bbq ribs’ fan, Sunday is the day to go as they offer ‘Eat as much as you like’ for a tenner. They also have a challenge: If you are able to eat a 4-pounds steak in one hour, you eat for free! If you consider yourself a python, then give it a try!
