This place is a fantastic spot for lunch. Tucked into a building right off a beautiful park, there were loads of vegetable-packed lunch options at reasonable prices. I ordered the day’s special, which did not disappoint-fresh salad, a roasted butternut squash and spinach wrap, delicious hummus and a(random but delightful) bite of toasted halloumi cheese. I also purchased a coconut tart, which was kind if like a macaroon popped into a flaky pastry shell. Word to the wise-the lunch portion is so generous that I was pretty full before I started on the tart, and did not have room to finish it. Glad I got to try it though! Again, this place has a wide variety of well-priced, vegetable-packed options, a wonderful spot for vegetarians and omnivores alike.

Since becoming vegan, I’ve found it very hard to find the right types of cafes/restaurants to eat. But I was delighted to discover the Mary Ward Centre Café. It caters to not only vegetarians but to vegans too! Their lunch options are freshly made, super delicious and reasonably priced at £5.35 for a warm main(like a chick pea casserole + a selection of salads).

Excellent value here, relaxed atmosphere, and very, very tasty vegetarian food(and this from a blatant meat-eater). Highly recommended, an excellent choice versus the university cafeterias in the area.

This is a pleasant and inexpensive place. There aren’t many options, but the food is good and very generous for the price. A nice stop merely a block away from the bustle and mediocrity of Southampton Row with easy access to Russell Square.

This is a secret vegetarian/vegan café tucked away inside the Mary Ward Adult Education Centre on Queens Square. Not fancy, but definitely tasty, with at least one vegan option each day. Bottom-line: Decent affordable café-style vegetarian food in the heart of Bloomsbury.

Not only brilliant, affordable adult education classes ranging from sculpture to philosophy, but a special, secret café lies inside the airy Georgian building. Turn left inside the grand entrance, pause to peruse the notice board full of exciting local activities and classes, and the café is behind you. Crowded at lunch times with students, but open to all. My favourite is the Spanish tortilla with three salads, or the toasted French-style cheese and mushroom baguette, or the Portugese custard tarts. All vegetarian, all affordable, and its very hard to choose as there are so many delicious dishes. Easily the best café menu in the area, at affordable prices, with affable staff and lovely suroundings. Ideal to sit and read or work apart from at busy times.
