Marco Pierre White Wheeler’s Oyster Bar and Grill Room

This used to be Bonds restaurant and bar, and in the bar you wouldn’t necessarily know that it had changed (which is a good thing!) The restaurant is nicely done with lots of red leather, comfy chairs and quirky artwork.
I met up with my sister for lunch and I probably should have mentioned to someone that we only had an hour, as everything took rather a long time and we had to rush at the end.
My sister ordered the beetroot and goats cheese starter as a main course. We obviously didn’t explain ourselves properly — we had meant for it to be a main course size, but it was just a small plate of beetroot and cheese. It was delicious, but not filling enough in the slightest for lunch. It also had no actual salad with it!
I ordered the hake and substituted garlic mushrooms for the couscous that it usually comes with. The hake was outstanding — absolutely delicious, simple, fresh and very tasty. I was pretty blown away by it.
Although the food had taken a while to arrive, we still had some time for a coffee — so we ordered some. It took 20 minutes and three times of asking to actually get these quite delicious beverages. They did kindly knock them off the bill, which we appreciated.
It was slightly expensive, very slightly under delivered, but the food was exceptional and I would be very willing to go back — especially in the evening when we could take more time over the meal.
