Food was solid but not the best I’ve ever had. Ordered veg plates and roti. However server had an attitude and insisted I must order all plates at once. In addition, even though there was no sign and they had a Visa/American Express sticker on the door, they told me they only accepted cash. There’s plenty of other wonderful restaurants in London. I strongly recommend choosing another.

Any place that tricks you into buying a bottle of water gets one star. It’s predatory and rude. The food was mediocre at best and terrible at worst.

Food is fine. Service really bothered me and ruin the dining experience. Got a waiter, looks like the main waiter, who ‘says I’m coming(sarcastically)’ the two times I asked for him, and after that I didn’t want to ask for him no more. We asked for water that never came. He explicitly asked for tip after I payed the bill, and then said 5 pound when I gave hime a 10 pound bill.

Hmm… Let’s start with food then we will discuss service. Having Indian food here is like having bad Chinese food in Los Angeles: it just should not happen! Unfortunately it did. It is possible to have BAD Indian food in, of all places, London?! The most bland and bad quality Indian food I ever had anywhere in the world I traveled. The vegetable curry is made of trio of frozen peas, carrots and corn with addition of onions and potato. It’s not salty enough, not enough spice and flavor. It was like eating microwaved frozen veggie with a touch of curry. The chicken curry tasted more like a chicken in gravy, not enough spice and salt. I can not believe I wasted my London Indian food experience on this place. Service, terrible. It’s like you owe them a favor for dining there. They shoved the table up to my chest twice and I have to push it out twice. When our drinks came, the waiter just threw them on the table making the whole table vibrate. Just because there was white table linen, it does not justify the price they charge for quality of food and poor service. Certainly does not deserve the mandatory service charge. On the contrary, that little Indian food booth inside of Borough’s Market was excellent! Can’t remember the name though.

My coworker was missing indian food and this was the first indian restaurant we saw as we were walking and so he popped in for a bite. He ordered the chili chicken with garlic and the layered parathas. I ate about a quarter of it. The restaurant is nice looking and clean but everything else about this restaurant is kinda meh. The service was hardly passable and everyone was standing around looking bored without much politeness. The food was okay, edible indian food without the real indian vibrancy. Nothing special but not terrible. The price was not very cheap but not expensive to make you avoid. About 12 quid for the curry, 4 quid for the parathas, and then 10% or 15% automatic gratuity is added to your bill. I can’t remember the exact percentage, but it is annoying when you add automatic gratuity to a bill in restaurant that doesn’t really provide any service. It’s in a good location between charing cross and leicester square, right near trafalgar square so it probably won’t go out of business so I’m just thankful the food was not bad.

worst Indian food i had… the portion is small. We two adults and a three year old ordered three dishes plus naan and rice and costed us over 50 pounds. and they charge a service fee for not so good service. Glad we don’t need to come back again.

The food was bland, and the place small and crowded, but it was in a good location and packed. Prices were reasonable. I would not go back.

I went here with some friends and everybody enjoyed their meal, particularly the vegetable masala and chicken Tikka masala. Although a little expensive it was probably worth it, however the service was a let down. The staff members responded with very bizarre unfriendly answers and mixed up orders. Also one of the waiters approached us with a pint of beer we didn’t order and continued to argue with my friend about it, he seemed pretty convinced that we had ordered it and wouldn’t give up until my friend had stressed a number of times he wouldn’t be paying for a beer he hadn’t ordered.

Randomly popped in here and found it decent enough — not amazing, not bad. My chicken tikka massala could have been a bit spicier — meat samosas and nan were very good. Service was prompt and efficient. A bit on the pricier side due to its location by Leicester Square.

Good food, and pleasant restaurant. Not the best Chicken Tikka Masala, but other dishes we’ve tried have all been good.

Decent enough Indian food, not too far from Trafalgar Square. Four of us(two Americans, two Brits) stopped in for a late dinner and drinks after much searching. We had no reservations but were seated right away. My chicken tikka masala was a little on the bland side, but pretty good all the same. Naan was light and fresh, as was the rice. Nothing was strange or disappointing, except for the service; the waiters were all oddly rude(moreso to our English friends, in fact). It was so weird, we had some good laughs about it for the rest of the night. Anyway, with beer and wine, the check came to about £20 each. Pretty reasonable for dinner in London, I’d say. We all left happy, in spite of the service.

Absolutely terrible. A party of three of us waited seemingly forever for our food at 1PM on a Sunday. In fact, the entire restaurant, probably about 10 of us, all waited for nearly an hour without any food being served. When it did arrive, my chicken curry was — seriously — almost spice-less. A completely bland chicken curry? AVOID.

Everyone says the Indian food in London is amazing. I didn’t have any on my last trip, so Indian food was on my ‘to do’ list this time around. Sorry to be the destroyer of this place’s 5-star rating, but those other reviewers have either never had good Indian food, or they’re friends with the owners. I would have to think a bad Indian restaurant in London is the equivalent of a crappy taco stand in L.A., and yet, I managed to find this place. I ordered Saag Paneer and even though I also ordered rice naan and raita, I was told I had to upsize to the entrée portion — no option of combining smaller dishes. The only upside to the dish was that they were not skimpy with the cheese, however that did not make up for the fact that the saag was oily and bland. BLAND!!! Whoever heard of flavorless Indian food??? The naan was decent, but I’d be truly frightened of anyone who found a way to mess up naan. The raita portion was quite large, but it was ‘meh’ — I prefer mine made from Greek-style yogurt. The rice was rice — another thing that’s pretty hard to screw up. The service was uneven. They were slow to take my order, quick to bring the food, but they never came back to my table after that. It took a fair amount of effort to get their attention to bring my check. I’m sure there are those who might dismiss my review because I’m from L.A. and«don’t know» Indian food, but my favorite local restaurant has been around for over 20 years, it’s run by Indians, and there are always Indian families eating there when I go in. So, I figure if it’s good enough for them, it’s got to be decent food. And I do know this — never ever ever ever have I gotten a BLAND dish there. Seriously! BLAND Indian food!

A group of four of us ate here quite late one Saturday night; it was getting pretty close to their closing time and there was a little bit of deliberation as to whether to allow us in so late or not as the place was empty and they obviously wanted to get home. We were all starving and really in the mood for a curry so after convincing them we’d buy loads of booze meaning we’d spend quite a bit we were allowed in. Service was prompt, but we were the only ones in there and they wanted to close up although when the food arrived we felt no pressure to eat quickly and the waiter kept a discreet distance. I had a chicken dopiaza which was actually one of the best curries I’ve had in a long time, I’d definitely go back there.

The one kind of food you can never go wrong with in London is Indian food. No matter which Indian restaurant we go to, we always end up having good food. Just outside of Leicester Square is Maharajah of India. I shared butter chicken, garlic chili chicken, vegetable curry, basmati rice, and of course naan bread. The waiter described the garlic chili chicken dish as «a little spicy.» False. Good thing I had the butter chicken to balance our the spiciness. The butter chicken here was different than I have had before. It usually comes in a red sauce and is a little spicy, but the butter chicken at this establishment is yellow and a sweet. The portions were small and left me still a little hungry. Other than that dinner was fantastic. Definitely recommend eating Indian food here or at any other place while visiting London.

We visited the Maharaja after spending half an hour wandering between Leicester Square and Covent Garden searching for an Indian restaurant. The Maharaja is only small, but looked popular with the restaurant itself close to full as we approached. This was encouraging and after a quick look at the menu to ensure prices were comparible, we went in. Luckily there was one table remaining towards the back of the restaurant and so we were seated straight away. The staff were attentive and efficient, the restaurant itself was clean and comfortable and the food was very nice. Despite of the number of people being catered for at once, our drinks and meals were served fairly quickly and we weren’t left sitting hungry. I’d definately reccommend a visit if you are in the area and on the lookout for Indian food, the meals we had all tasted fresh and flavoursome. We could definately tell we were down south though, at over £4.50 for a pint of Kingfisher!
