Okay Home Office, you should just go ahead and hand me over a British passport. I don’t care if I haven’t been here quite long enough to be eligible; I’ve acculturated exceptionally well. Already, I make a beeline for pie and mash whenever I come across a place I haven’t tried and must confess it’s among my all time favourite comfort foods. Heading down to Peckham for work today, I was pleased to hop off the bus and read Manze’s giant«Eel and Pie House» signage. Less than three quid later, I was satiated by a simple, filling and tasty helping of pie and mash smothered in liquor and vinegar. As with most of London’s few remaining pie shops, this one’s got the austere atmosphere, marble tops and long bench seating. Service is surly and efficient.
