I think this place is named after Lord Nelson, who used to drink here before smashing armadas. And I don’t think the décor has changed much. It’s a dive. A well worn pub that has been increasingly surrounded by immigrants who don’t go to pubs. Sometimes hat’s how big cities roll. But a pub is also the sum of its customers and on this night, the LHA was a lot of fun. There were old men watching football and groups of young ladies celebrating boxing day sale success(???). They were festive. And lots of young guys who didn’t know how to hit on these young ladies. It was like an akward middle school dance at times, except these were all adults, making it even more strange. But it it was fun to watch and many were fun to speak with. I’m just not sure if this is a regular crowd. That would be too bad because some of my favorite places in all the world are well-worn dive bars full of fun people.
