Lidl: land of weird imported knock off booze and piles of Haribo at good prices! Also, as it happens, a good place to find persimmons the size of your head. For much cheaper than anywhere else that I’ve seen them(which isn’t a lot of places). I’m not a big Lidl shopper — I usually just pop in to see if they’ve got Crabbie’s or Rekorderlig(they do have both from time to time and the prices are good), but while the place is bare-bones minimal and limited in selection, what it does offer is decent. Very good for getting baking chocolate, as well. They’re currently putting on an extension to have a bakery(the sign says by Spring 2014). I’ll be interested in the quality of that when it happens!

Great for cheap shopping, with limitations. Basically I used Lidl to stock up on groceries, frozen food and stuff like salami, Parmesan and Olive Oil. For key basics it is cheaper than any other supermarket, including ASDA, beyond that the range is limited so I get the rest elsewhere.
