Leaping Hare on Crescent and Bell by Barry Flanagan

I’ve always thought of this piece, showing a hare, supported by a crescent, leaping over a bell, as the ‘harebell’. Surely that pun is intentional? Apparently the artist quite often includes hares in his work. In some cases figures that are a cross between hare and human. The hare, and moon/​crescent are symbols associated with folklore. There’s a hint of magic in the air.
This is likeable and lighthearted, and kids seem to love it. I guess as a permanent piece of street art it therefore rather fits the bill.
