We really enjoyed it. Great food and ambience, and felt it was reasonably priced. Service was a little slow, but staff were friendly

If you are looking for a Spanish food experience, do not sit in one of their tables! Bad cooked food in amazingly small portions. Very, very disappointed.

Tapas place is perfect for groups, the atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming The choices are great and the size portions are average normal, best with tapas is to order and share… As with tapas is can be a bit pricey but it depends on what you order. Average price for 2 – 3 tapa selections is £12 The sangria is good

La Tasca is a chain so I’m reviewing it based on that benchmark. You come here because you unfortunately work in Canary Wharf and only have a bunch of chain-y type, generic restaurants to choose from, not because you’re looking for a unique dining experience! The food isn’t as horrible as people are making out. I’ve had some absolutely awful tapas in Spain so this actually wasn’t too bad, all things considered. That said, the atmosphere is lacklustre and you’re not going to be jonesing to come back anytime soon but it does the trick if you want an easy place to have a meal.

Average food with average ambience. Some of the tapas were good, others were so-so. We went on a thursday evening with friends. So, there was no excuse to not have crowds unless it was not a good restaurant

It’s a solid 3.5 stars. I adore the ambiance of this place — the lighting is perfect, the music loudness is perfect, the cosiness is perfect. It’s a great place to be for a nice date night or a small group of friends to catch up. My sangrias were great too(I tried three — red, white, and rose, my favourite being rose). What makes it short of the 4 stars, however, is the food, which is usually the most important aspect of a restaurant. We had the following: — mixed olives: a little salty, but good — paella of the day(chicken and chorizo): huge disappointment. The rice itself has none of the typical paella flavours(i dont even think saffron was used). Bland. — gambas al ajillo(garlic shrimp): it was okay. nothing special. — festival of mushrooms: good, likely the best tapa of the night, which is sad because it’s just mushrooms and i’ve had better — croquetas de pollo(chicken): i thought it was good but my bf didn’t quite like it. when we were in madrid, he was eating croquetas like popcorn and he wasn’t too impressed with this one. — tortilla espagnola: generally these things are made with eggs and potatoes, which is what they did, but there wasnt anything else in there. the sauces on top and on side didn’t do much for it. The prices were decent £3-£6 for each dish. Our server was always in a hurry and dropping and forgetting stuff here and there, but overall the service was great. Honestly, I really wish the food was better, which is surprising because this is a giant chain, i found out later, that has over 42 restaurants across the UK and apparently even in the US.

I really enjoyed coming here… in fact I enjoyed it so much that I went back there for dinner the next night too! For some reason the drinks seem to do down extra easy here. The added bonus is the food is also really good. For both nights I didn’t have the same thing twice so was able to sample a good number of plates. The food comes out quick and out of the 16 or so items ordered there was only one which I didn’t care for. In my book this is a great set of odds to have when coming to a tapas type of restaurant. I also found the service very good as well. The server was very good in offering suggestions, both food and drinks. I also liked the fact that other servers also attended to you if they say drinks getting low or plates needed to be cleared. If you’ve never had tapas before, then I would highly recommend this place as it is very friendly to the tapas inexperienced. Looking forward to my next visit there in December!

We went to La Tasca near Canary Wharf with some friends on Friday night. I haven’t been to a Spanish restaurant before, so I was unsure of what to expect. It was a good idea to be part of a group of 4 people — we each chose several tapas dishes and we all shared them. They were tasty and filling. My favourite dishes were the pork ribs, the meatballs, the aubergine(eggplant) and the fried potatoes. However, the paella was underwhelming — when I saw that it had chorizo, I was expecting more flavour. One of us had a 50% off voucher, so the dinner was very good value. I thought the service was a bit slow — it took a long time to attract someone over to take our order. However, it was a busy night, so I don’t think they were ignoring us. I would visit again — definitely if I had another 50% off voucher.

If you are coming here, make sure you go with at least one more person, since most dishes are for sharing. The tapas set menu are for 2 people, and for paella, there is minimum order of 2 persons. There is also a tapas menu for groups of 8 and larger. We ordered sangria, which was not bad. It came in a pitcher, that literally had word«Sangria» written on it. I guess this is to perhaps prevent underaged people from drinking it because the hug was labelled clearly? We started off with bread and olives. The bread took about 20 min to come, so I expected it to be warm and freshly baked. Wrong, it was at room temp. At least the sangria came before the bread, so that made the wait shorter. I ordered the tapas menu for 2. They had different kinds of menus, one kind for meat(carne) lovers, one kind that is healthy, and one kind that cost a little more but had more dishes. Out of the dishes that we ordered, I found myself eating lots of potatoes. POTATOESPOTATOESPOTATOESCARBFEST! One of the tapas was a potato cake, another was potato cubes with salsa sauce on top. Not to mention that we had a bowl of paella with chicken, which was delicious! There was also bowl of meatballs, and chorizos. I found the chorizos soso, just not a fan of it. The chicken croquette was delicious. Then the large paella came. This was not part of the tapas menu. Should not have ordered it. We had the paella with tomatoes on it. We could not even get through half of it. Needless to say, we had a food coma afterwards but it was well worth it.

we went with the chef’s recommendation and a pitcher of sangria. sangria was delicious, of course. chef’s menu was half yummy and the other half ok. great location in the docklands, next to other bars and nightlife. energetic atmosphere.

Ok maybe I just don’t have great taste(I’m sure there are more than a few people who would agree with this) but I have to disagree with the other reviews slating this place. Cmon, it is a chain of faux Spanish restaurants!!! Not sure why you’d expect some gastronmic genius in such a place. Ok the food wasn’t authentic, nor was it that great, but it was exactly how I expected it to be. The Sangria was as average as the food, but again I didn’t expect much more.

Very nice food, served promptly and extremely friendly staff. There tend to be lots of 2−4−1 offers and 50% off vouchers around for La Tasca so hunt around before going to make this good value for money as well as yummy

This La Tasca stands out somewhat for its nice canal-side position; the outside area is lovely for pre-dinner drinks. The service when I ate here wasn’t fantastic; it took a while to get the attention of the waiting staff and a while after we managed to be brought our bill. The food was brought out very quickly though, and was perfectly nice. The only thing I’d advise steering clear of is the chicken skewers, which were really dry. Overall though a decent, cheap meal in a nice location.

I love spanish food, anythig I can pick out bascially. I really enjoyed my experience at la tasca, I know its a chain but felt like I was dining in a unique resturant. The rusktic décor really gives it the spanish feel. Becareful not to order too much, £5 per tapa’s can add up. I have been back a numebr of times since.

I usually like La Tasca which is why I choose to eat in the Canary Wharf branch. I wish I hadn’t bothered. The service was extremely poor, the starters and mains were brought out at the same time & we had to ask for the bill 4 times. It only arrived when we stood up & put our coats on after waiting so long. The food was good but I was very disappointed overall

Awful. Truly awful. I love tapas. It’s a brilliant brilliant food. It’s also full of stodge which does a pretty good job of getting rid of scary hangovers. Unless it’s dry, tasteless and actually not real tapas. Note to La Tasca: Paella isn’t just uncooked rice with broad beans. BBQ ribs are NOT tapas. The rest of the food was just sub-standard. They can’t even make tortilla properly. Well, if they did it was about four hours before we got to it and it hadn’t been kept in the fridge. I never trust a tapas restaurant that can’t make tortilla properly Yeah, so it’s a whole meal for a tenner, but then we got charged £8 for two orange juice and lemonades! Christ that’s a lot of money. We were eating outside which was pleasant enough but inside the staff for just doing nothing but throwing stuff around the(empty) restaurant. Despite the fact that the toilets were the most disgusting I’ve ever seen in a restaurant. I won’t go back to a La Tasca ever. Barcelona is a much better chain of tapas restaurants so I suggest you go there instead.

Worst place that I have ever been to for Tapas! The food is too salty; all I could taste was salt and nothing else. Overpriced for the type and quality of food available; I am so unimpressed that I am never going to go there again. The sangria was quite bland more like coloured water with fruits instead! Interior is forgettable and uncharacteristic. It is just another normal restaurant trying to look Spanish. Well this is all I can say of La Tasca. A total disappointment!

Went again for Christmas event promotion — reinforced my opinion that one should stay away from this place. Got 3 wine tasting vchrs — the glasses got filled 1⁄3. For any more drinks you would have to pay for them. Food — long queues for tasters — plates were the size of small side plates and you were not allowed to help yourself. No food left at the end of it — even though people wanted more. This was an invitation only event. One can wonder how the portions would be, should you really book your Xmas party there! Save your reputation and book somewhere else!

La Tasca is a Spanish Tapas Bar with a huge selection of Seafood, Meat, Paella and other traditional Spanish foods. La Tasca used to get particularly bad reviews from my friends, but seeing as I frequent it the most I can say that this place has an amazing menu and the food is always beautifully cooked. The food is reasonably priced; a Tapas dish costs roughly three to four pounds. I don’t think that La Tasca serves the most authentically cooked Spanish food as far as Tapas bars go, but this doesn’t mean that it can’t still be enjoyed. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with traditional Spanish music playing and Spanish speaking staff. The great thing about Tapas is the variety of foods you can enjoy in one sitting, I particularly like this style of eating and it’s perfect for those of you that are indecisive when it comes to ordering from a menu. La Tasca has a laid back vibe, it’s the kind of place you can go either for a quick bite to eat before a night out or to eat, drink and chat all night with friends. If you haven’t been in a while you should definitely take a visit, they’ve recently introduced a new menu that has embellished some of the dishes that were already on the menu, making them even tastier!
