It’s mid May and the«reopening after Easter» sign is still up — my guess is this isn’t happening!

I’ve been meaning to come to this place for AGES! And need to apologise for not taking photos of what was served! It was incredible. Had a good catch up with a mate last night here over one of the best steaks I’ve had in long time. La Pampa is an Argentinean restaurant which has a really nice feel to it. Its quite small but serves amazing food. I had two small fillet steaks with two eggs with a side salad that we shared. It was unreal! The steak was served perfectly medium rare, with some really nice traditional hot sauce. You can’t have steak without some hot sauce! The side salad was also amazing, coming with heart of palms which are another big favourite of mine. The staff were great — friendly, attentive but clearly experience and didn’t over do it. It wasn’t cheap but considering there were quite a few beers etc it worked out really well. 12 out of 10 for this place!

I’ve passed by this place a gazillion times and if you’re considering this place then keep on steppin. Pros: –Extensive wine selection –The chimichurri sauce was the best i’ve ever had and I’m half Argentine. –The steak was good, I asked for medium RARE and got medium well, and it was STILL good. Cons: –Salad came without dressing. which pissed me off. Waiter noticed and brought me some mixed oil concoction that sufficed. — Waiter brought over a jug of water and didn’t pour it for us. Which is just bad training or laziness… either way its not good. — The sides were lame. — They played salsa music… which… c’mon bro. Play some tango, gimme ambiance, how about some Carlos Gardel. Geez. Over all… missed the mark and expensive. no thanks.

I’ve been to Pampa grill last night. Being myself Argentinian I felt homesick and needed some good steak. My first impression was that the music was also salsa… I love salsa but it has nothing to do with Argentina. Then the decoration didn’t make any sense so I ask the waiter and he turned out to be Colombian and so the restaurant owners… I felt cheated but I carried on with my dinner. I ordered an empanada, I received a Colombian empanada, one of those you normally have at La Bodeguita in Elephan & Castle with a weird sauce, it was nice though but not what I wanted. Then we wanted some bread but it had ran out so we were offered bread from the day before which was«still fresh». Obviously, we refused it. The Bife de Filete was fine, probably because it said it’s brought especially from Argentina, who knows. The last straw came when I asked for some chimichurri and they said the weird sauce was actually chimichurri… what??? I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think you have to be born and raised in the country you are cooking food from, but at least you must have some basic knowledge of its cousine Service was poor and staff unsmiling yet quick. Not coming back again, for £80 I can get something much better. This restaurant lets Argentina down.

I remember this place being a lot better than it is now. It had been about 2 years since I was there last. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve had better steak elsewhere since or if they’re just not as good. The worst thing for me was one of our servers was absolutely pig ignorant. He seemed annoyed any time we asked for something which drives me mad when you’re paying about 20 pounds a person for your main course. My girlfriend liked her steak though. For the price, wouldn’t be bothered going back ever again.

Lovely grub, a little expensive but the foo was worth it. Not sure why description says French, it’s an Argentinian steak house!

The feel of the place is very good and it almost felt as if I was abroad as it was a hot summers evening. The staff were polite and attentive but we did have to ask twice that we were ready to order even though it wasn’t busy. The mains came quite quickly, opting for the fillet and it was an excellent steak which went down well with the red wine. I’d go again for sure as the steak was fantastic but only gets a four. Gaucho has steak which is just as good but has so much more on their menu(oysters, scallops and a better desert menu). If the rest of the menu was better and had more variety, would have been a five.

I have been here or the sister restaurant up the road a number of times and never been dissapointed. The ambience of the place is very warm and welcoming. The staff running it look like the love what they do as well and are passionate about the food they serve. The steaks are some of the best I have had in London. Its a good place for a romantic dinner as the lights are low, candles lit and the wine list of very good. I went there on a first date a few years ago and the waiter said she looks a lot nicer than the girl you brought here last week! Good humour which went down well in breaking the ice. I would highly recommend this place for a good steak and good wine, at a pretty good price.

Ended up for dinner there on Friday night. Wow! Definitely the place to go to if you want a proper steak. The rib eye steak was better than the sirloin, as it was juicier. The pancakes with Dulce de leche was a good end to a fab meal and evening.

I second that! best steak in town Argentinian and beautiful. There is little difference between the ‘potatoes’ and the ‘chips’(actually I’d say none) but who cares when the steak tastes this good? Not the first stop for veggies — only one dish on offer(well and the ‘potatoes’ and the ‘chips’ !!) but a really good atmosphere, good wine and really fab food.

What a great place to dinner, you will never find a better steak in London, it is unbelievably succulent and fresh. It is quite romantic with red candles on the tables, and wooden furniture, perfect for Valentines and Anniversaries. The service is quick and great, it is a bit pricey but what to expect if the meat came all the way from South America. It is really worth paying few pounds extra.
