I have bought multiple items from John Lobb, a super high-end boot maker and all things leather. My favorite item is their shiny jet black shoes. They glisten in the sun and I can see my reflection as if I were looking at a black mirror. My reflection was dark, beautiful, handsome, incredibly chiseled and ridiculously good-looking. I immediately thought about this great idea of having this smooth, black leather cover the ceiling of my bedroom and walls of my bathroom where I could see my black reflection. First, I had to make sure my instincts were right about this one. I immediately pulled down my pants to see the reflection of my pee pee on the shoes… the reflection was the same size and I was indubitably disappointed. I immediately scrapped the idea, did the«helicopter,» pulled my pants up, bought the belt and shoes, and ran out of the store.

John Lobb’s englisches Schuhwerk repräsentiert wahre traditionelle Meisterschaft.

I bought some John Lobb shoes in Canada last season which were unfortunately not my size(my fault for not trying on – high-end mens shoe sizing has no continuity even at the same shop b/c of last shapes). I brought them to London to see if they would honour a replacement, and they did! Quite incredible considering I didn’t buy them from a JL shop(though they were from an authorized dealer — no receipt tho). Staff are ultra friendly and quite knowledgeable, and the product is second to none(aside from full bespoke at Lobb on St. James). Plus, their branded shoe polish is made by Saphir(medaille d’or line) which is basically unavailable in London, and is the world’s finest by any account.

I think Lobb must be the world’s number one best shoemaker.

just out of my budget. still, Lobb has been producing very fine shoes for fine people for centuries. if you have the wedge, they’ll measure your feet and produce wooden shaped equivalents as molds(called lasts I believe). this means that you can have shoes made for you for ever, as long as you keep your feet at least, and you’ll be walking very pretty indeed. just think, your last could be sharing a room with the Duke of Wellington, Prince Albert and many other names from history. so if you are ever stuck for the summer at a hill station such as Shimla, just send a telegram for Lobb to produce some fresh boots for the autumn season.
