Free Wifi, good coffee, relatively clean toilet, and great fruit smoothies, ideal for a pit stop. Be warned though, juices are ‘pint priced’ but in all likelihood much healthier!

Glücklicherweise kam ich gerade an Joe & The Juice vorbei, meine Rettung.

Recharge Your Batteries the J&TJ Way ! If you’re looking for a quirky, juice/coffee /hangout, to recharge your batteries after a hard morning’s shopping on Oxford Street, then Joe and the Juice on Broadwick Street is just the place for you. Part of a successful Danish chain, this cheeky little number is somewhere I pass every day on my way to work, but have never set foot in until yesterday and I’m glad I did. T&TJ’s first smart move was having two rather cute guys serving — not that their presence in any way influenced my deciding to stay awhile :0) Then of course I had to try J&TJ speciality — the Juice!!! The menu of delectable fruity concoctions was diverse and adventurous in terms of choice. I went for a super lush ‘Pick Me Up’, which was super fruity, punchy and as good as it’s word, which is what I needed, while I sipped it surrounded by my shopping bags. If there’s one thing that’s as important to me as food and drink at a hangout spot, it’s the décor. Joe and the Juice nailed this one with a relaxed, cool ambience. Black painted wood floors were dotted all over with small nickel console tables, matched with grey velvet pouffes and some super sexy Egg chairs. Dominating both ends of this faux living room(because that’s what it feels like!) are 2 huge chandeliers which look fabulous and add an interesting focal point to the room. If you want a place to hang with friends or a Sunday coffee and papers pitstop, then J&TJ also rates highly, because of the music. Not only is it cool, it is also played at a volume that allows you to hold a conversation — so simple really, but so many coffee/juice bars forget this.

I found the branch on Broadwick Street by chance one day when I was walking around in the area. I was never at their shop on Regent Street, but I guess the Broadwick Street branch is more relaxed anyway. the interior is very simple but nice and the juice was terrific. The guys even sometimes«perform» by throwing around some fruits which are«stored» everywhere in the shop. I am not sure about that, but at least it was to some extent entertaining. That Joe & the Juice is from Denmark makes a lot of sense, as for whatever reason I perceived this place as somehow Scandinavian-ish — I really don’t know why, but as I lived one year in Stockholm I liked that feeling. So finally, if you’re in central London and looking for a nice place to enjoy a tasty juice, don’t miss Joe & the Juice. I cannot write a lot about the coffee though …

This branch of Joe & The Juice, nicely located near Carnaby Street, is a great place to sit down and chill out if you’re in the West End. This place serves up an assortment of juices, coffees and sandwiches, and possesses a pretty big seating area. It also got plenty of sunlight on a sunny Easter Monday, which was great, because I’d been looking for some place where I could enjoy the sun and yet still read a book. The cappuccino I ordered was pretty decent, not as great as nearby Sacred, but definitely better than Caffe Nero and Starbucks. In spite of my being one of a handful of customers in the café, the server managed to forget my order but was very apologetic when I walked up to remind him I hadn’t had my coffee yet(just as he was perplexedly staring at the empty coffee cup on the counter). The music playing in the café the day I visited sounded very much in the vein of typical Scandinavian folk fare — Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, etc. — and the servers would occasionally clap their hands and sing along, which I found quite charming. Despite the fact that I think Joe and the Juice is a little on the pricey side, I did very much like the café, the décor, the service and the location. If you get what you pay for, then this place is definitely worth the price.
