I visited Jamdani as I was in the area after work and this was the first result when I did a search near me. Unfortunately I wish that hadn’t been the case. I’ve got quite a few issues with the restaurant but I’ll get around to these. I suppose I should mention the few positives first. I had the chicken dansak for my main meal which was actually pretty tasty with my only gripe being that it had a bit more spice than I was used to but definitely not inedible. They also do large bottles of Cobra beer which ended up being required. Sadly, this is about all I have to report that is good. For starters I shared the Jamdani special which was all the usual suspects like the onion bhaji, samosa etc. Most were surprisingly bland and left a very oily taste. We also had the king prawn purée with the prawns being slightly rubbery. The lamb rogan josh was a lot hotter than medium and meant that it was not enjoyable at all and ended up being a bit of a struggle to eat. The meal was ended off with a few bread options and some rice. My biggest problem with Jamdani is how I felt the next day. Both me and my friend were not well and I even had to take the day off work. I’m hoping that it wasn’t the food but it was the only common denominator. Just to rub salt in the wound was the price. For where it was and the quality of the food we received I wouldn’t have expected to be presented with a bill for £65. I could have paid slightly more and enjoyed a meal from Dishoom!
