The head waiter was condescending and rude. Service extremely slow and food mediocre at best.
We were ordering dinner and wanted a pasta dish for an appetizer. Since we were busy chatting, we picked ravioli (top of menu). Waiter then told me that it was not sharable and if I had not noticed it is a consumme on the menu. The menu did not say consumme. It said broth… whatevers… just be nice.
The service came with a dose of jackass. Menu selection was blah. I ordered fish and it was not memorable.
They did offer us some type of mini cheese sampler. That, focaccia bread, and the ambiance help secure the restaurant three stars. Not worth coming if you are visiting from US or Canada (big cities) where many italian places taste better

I took my other half here for our date nite. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and the manager was very friendly. A first class dining experience. It was a bit pricey but was really worth it. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Happy to write a review for this LOVELY Italian restaurant! The service was amazing and the food was delicious! We had things from pea soup, fried courgettes, salads, lobster pasta and lamb ragu with pasta… everything was so good. The ambiance is classy, light and modern. Walk off your dinner in the surrounding area. Great evening!!!

I went there in 2009 through business lunch.
I had chicken, which was delicately made. It felt like the air was included in a chicken.
Couldn’t remember what I had properly, but I remember the service and the atmosphere was nice.

I went there with my wife and 2 of our 3 kids. I must say we had an excellent evening. The welcoming was nice, food was outstanding, delicious wine, great dessert. The atmosphere is very pleasant. And the bill was correct for the given quality. Michelin should go there, the qualification is far underestimated.
I can only re command this restaurant to every one!
I certainly go there again current my next visit in London.

I found this place on Unilocal and am so glad that I did: an amazing hidden gem in the depths of Victoria.
Delicious bread, delicious salads, delicious pasta and amazing deserts.

I was so excited to go to this place – two five star reviews, but it is a long way from getting a 5.
We went at 9:30 on a Saturday eve expecting it to be bustling. Nothing like a massive restaurant with at least 20+ tables and only one other party in the entire place. That would have been nice if it were a tiny romantic place but it is a big restaurant. Well one of the pluses of an empty restaurant is that we did get lots of attention from the charming Italian waiters.
The «free appetizer and dessert» that Cheryl refers to is standard – they dropped off a little gnochi amuse buche and then a truffle and a little pastry at the end.
The food was good – had a salad with goat cheese and fried artichokes and sea bass. The best was the spicy spaghetti with tomatoes and fresh mozzarella that my dining partner had – nice and spicy and the spaghetti was al dente to perfection.
Had the whilte espresso gelato for dessert – still not sure how they made it – they wouldn’t give me the recipe.
The food was good just not 5 stars and the empty restaurant just killed any hope of atmosphere. Sweet people though…

I was recently fortunate to dine at Il Convivio. Our group (eight) had the private dining area on the first floor. It’s a beautiful room with antique table and soft leather easy chairs off to one side… perfect for that pre or post dinner drink. I found the service very attentive, but not overboard.
It’s not one of those stuffy Chelsea restaurants, trying to be something it’s not. It offers and delivers modern Italian cuisine perfectly. I also had the black spaghetti and lobster — Delicious! My main course was the Sea Bass — perfectly cooked… unlike other places I’ve been. The fish was fresh and absolutely gorgeous. I could have easily had more for dessert.
Will I be back? Definitely!!! Ambience — 10, Service — 10 and the Food was top notch!

This was hands-​down the best restaurant I ate at during my stay in London. Granted, I didn’t go to a lot of the obvious restaurants (Belgo, Rules, etc.) so those may have been excellent as well, but this place was a wonderful surprise. It was actually my second choice based on descriptions I had read but I ended up here after the first place gave me attitude.
I was the only one here for most of my meal which some would find awkward, but they treated me like a goddess. Full disclosure, they gave me a free appetizer and dessert, but I would have given them an excellent review regardless. For the main course I had the eggplant ravioli. This was like heaven — and I’m not even a big fan of eggplant! Maybe I’ve just had it wrong all these years and this is what other people get excited about. As well as being tasty this dish was nicely plated and a good sized portion — enough to make me full but not too much food.
If I ever found myself back in London I would definitely come back here.
P. S. The space was also lovely, pretty and romantic. Too bad I was there alone!

Not sure I agree with the previous review — I’ve been here several times (including once on Valentine’s Day when it was heaving), and always been impressed with the place.
The restuarant is on the lower ground floor, but a clever use of skylights mean that it’s really bright and airy (and strikingly red). Staff are attentive and service is good.
Food-​wise, it’s probably best described as modern Italian — when I was there, 2 dishes that spring to mind were confit of crispy pork belly with cherries marinated in cabernet sauvignon and black spaghetti with lobster and spring onions, so I’ll let you make up your own mind!
Overall, a good indicator of the quality of the restuarant is if you’d go back — I’ve been 3 times now and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

IL Convivio is an ok Italian restaurant in Pimlico but I dont think I will go back. On the food side it was good although I found that the menu and the chef were trying to hard to produce slightly over sophisticated Italian food. I like my Italian food simple and earthy and there the chef was trying to mix too many tastes and ingredients. The restaurant was pretty much empty, ok it was Monday evening but still that was not great. We had to ask the waiter to stop the noisy air con and then change the Italian heavy metal that was filling the room If you live in Pimlico and want to eat Italian you are probably better off at Olivo and Olivetto round the corner. In summary, ok up-​market Italian food, but overall a dull restaurant in my view.
