Really fun event with loads of fancy dress and shows. There was a fashion show with everyone’s favourite characters which was good fun. The food stalls were tasty, lots of items you’ve never tried before. We also got to dress up as traditional wrestlers from Japan. On top of that we tried out video games, so good day all around.

HARAJUKUBARBIE!!! *pulls a weird Nicki Minaj face with twitching eyes* Right, now I’ve gotten that out of the way lets get to the review. This event is all about Japan, the fashion, the food, culture, animé, manga, the whole shebang. I’ve always wanted to use that word, shebang. The event is held every year to raise funds for the earthquake that took place in Japan, I’m all for supporting the cause. There are over 100 vendors there, selling everything from clothes to a three piece suit for your cute dog named joe. Dont ask how but I always seem to be find myself near the saki section, purely coincidental. Leaving the judging for the court room people. When I start testing out my Japanese on anyone within a two mile radius I know it’s time to leave the saki station and head to the sushi master classes and eat something. Prebook for those, tickets sell faster than hot cakes! Whatever hot cakes are. They have a stall that sells Japanese sweets, drinks, chocolates, omg it’s the best thing you will ever see at any moment anywhere. You can easily spend £100 without realising, it’s a dangerous place to be if you have a credit card. There’s a lot of cosplay to be seen so make sure your camera is fully charged, I can guarantee you’ll want to take giddy pictures with people, and capture moments of the Lolita fashion show. I’ve been twice, the first time I went as an animé character, the second time I designed a costume and dressed as a HARAJUKUBARBIE ;) I like to dress up, who doesn’t?

HYPERJAPAN: The UK’s biggest J-culture event. If you are really huge-Japan-fan this the right place to go. Not only sushi but you can also get other japanese food like takoyaki, okonomiyaki, chicken teriyaki burger, pumpkin-korokke burger, japanese curry with the rice etc. The stalls like Sushi noms or Tofu cute is my favorite. You can buy Japanese-magazines from there too, figures, bento-boxes, toys.
