Cute little tea shop that could have been better. I wanted to love this place but with very slow service and a lack of variety in terms of cakes/pastries I left feeling unimpressed. The tea was lovely but the service was sluggish at best, and the cakes were just good, but nothing to write home about.

Beautiful and stylish place. Proper homemade scones and a delicious, varied selection of teas. A glorious place for afternoon tea. Best place for tea and cake in Highgate.

This place is so darn cute. As cozy as your grandmother’s living room but with a bit more chic. They offer a lot of cute tea cups, aprons and tea towels on sale. The display helps jazz up the place. The servers are sweet and the drinks and bits come out fast. Today we ordered a strawberry and orange tea pot for two and a slice of lemon drizzle cake. Although the cake was a wee bit dry, the dryness made sense. The cake had a cornbread texture and it worked. The drizzle was tart and sweet. So a definite must-eat again dessert. During a previous visit I had their scones with clotted cream and jam on the side. The scones were nice, moist. What stood out was that the clotted cream came in little packets. Here’s this cute place that makes you think you’re eating at your fancy nan’s house and they give you cream in a packet? I would have preferred it served in a small dish, like the jam. Definitely a place I look forward to returning to, especially with out of town guests.

I have been looking forward to going to High Tea of Highgate for a while now so it was in great anticipation that I went! Everything was wonderful, except for one thing which I will mention after the positives. It is a gorgeous little place, it doesn’t look like there is much seating when you first walk in, but there is a little room in the back with a couple of tables which was a nice surprise. The girls who worked there were lovely, very helpful and polite. I had a pot of English Breakfast which was great and the little cow creamer pours so well that I was actually tempted to buy a 22.50 pound cow creamer! I ordered a scone with jam and clotted cream — scone was good, however they had something powder on it which I first thought was cinnamon and sugar, but unfortunately I think they had flour powdered on it which never tastes that good, but it was still a nice scone. Jam was good — quite chunky for me, but maybe not for others. And here comes the big disappointment… their clotted cream was not made in house, which meant that it was in a container and the cream was crusty on the top and liquidy underneath. I can buy this at Sainsbury’s and I do not like liquidy clotted cream, it just doesn’t seem right! Unfortunately I will not be back for this reason — although actually it might be nice to try their cakes, those looked wonderful!

I like it here… I think it’s a cute place and it always smells amazing when you come inside. On top of it, the staff is always very friendly and forthcoming. As far as their food selection goes, I really enjoy eating their fresh scones with clotted cream and home made jam… in fact, this is the only thing I’ve ever eaten there. Granted, this place doesn’t serve the typical afternoon tea, with cucumber sandwiches etc, but personally I prefer this… it doesn’t drain my wallet as much as a afternoon tea at the Wolseley and the atmosphere here is much more intimate and inviting than at any other of the tourist-packed tea places.

Oh dear, High Tea of Highate. I was really looking forward to my first visit to your characterful, little Tea Room, but I was not impressed. I thought the best antidote to cheer me up on a dull, rainy afternoon in North London was to treat myself to tea and cakes at High Tea, but I have to say, dear little tea room, your terribly poor customer service was truly appalling, the serving staff really did let you down! I’d walked past the tea rooms a couple of times and saw it was busy, so went for a further wander into the Village to give tables a chance to be emptied and cleared before I ventured back. Once inside, the space was very prettily decorated and adorned with unusual, flowerly fine bone china milk jugs, tea cups and table clothes, but I would certainly say it lacks the charm and originality of the Tea Rooms on Stoke Newington Church Street — . When I asked if there was a table free, I was ignored and the lady with a child who had walked in behind me was spoken to over my head and ushered to a table. Had I suddenly become invisible? Had I lost the vocal power to be heard above the chitter-chatter of ladies taking tea? No, neither of things had happened, the girls behind the counter were just being rude enough to ignore me as someone they didn’t recognise and talk directly to the customer behind me who they appeared to know. After the lady was directed to a free table, I looked somewhat disgruntled and asked again if there was a table free, but this time suddenly the girls had busied themselves and either pretended or ignored my second plea for a seat. Upon feeling completely unwelcome, I said out loud, «oh well, I’ll go elsewhere then shall I?» and promptly left. What an awful experience. Unfriendly, dreadful customer service and the worse first time experience in a tea shop ever. Please don’t support this place until they replace the girls who presently work there as there’s so many more enjoyable places to invest your hard-earned and enjoy a good cup of tea and tasty homemade cakes. Shame on you High Tea Highgate. You’ve definitely lost my custom and as well as deterring fellow Qypers, I shan’t be recommending any friends, family or colleagues pay you a visit either.

I find this sort of jolly-Glen-Miller-floral-pinnies-pseudo-WW2 chic more than a bit distasteful and ill judged. Also the cake I had was pretty dull and tasteless and cost more than I expected from the menu. Nothing for people who want to eat anything savory either. How difficult can it be to make a few sandwiches as well? I live a couple of hundred yards away but I won’t be going back again.

Went here the other day with a friend to escape the rain & be given a true high tea experience, and I got it! The place is adorable, with sweet hand drawn pictures on the walls and mixed china sets. The menu has an array of teas, of course, and I had the Cream Tea(Vanilla Rooibus!) with scones and clotted cream and unlimited jam! My friend thoroughly enjoyed her carrot cake(a generous portion with delicious icing). Ah, fantastic! They also have tea cozies and teas and aprons and even shoes for sale! I highly recommend High Tea of High Gate! ;)

Disappointing. As a major cream tea fan, I am fairly easily pleased. Give me a cucumber sandwich, a nice scone and buckets of tea and I am ready to roll over and let you scratch my belly. This was not so. It seemed so promising as well. High Tea of Highgate is a beautiful tea shop full of adorable tea sets, aprons and cute little knick-knacks that you can buy. The decoration is cutesy and stylish, with black and white cupcake and scrolly designs on the wall and little tables perfect for tea and gossip. But they have no little sandwiches on the menu, just scones and cakes. Small scones, far too small for hungry ladies. With clotted cream from a mini packet like you get on a plane. Um what? And wow, small tea pots. Barely a cup and a half each in a pot for two. The cakes were divine though, I recommend the chocolate and orange, incredibly moist and richly flavoured.

This is an adorable little café in the heart of Highgate village which my pal and I happened to stumble upon one cold January afternoon. We had originally planned to go for a stroll in Hampstead Heath but because i was starting to loose all feeling in my toes I suggested we go for tea quick smart, and what a good idea that turned out to be. Everything about this place is so darling from the quaint drawings on the wall of clocks to the dresser that props up tea cosies with pom poms on top, aprons, tea cups which are all for sale. And on to the important bit, the food: I had cream tea which consisted of 2 scones, jam, clotted cream and tea of choice for £5, delicious. There is a gallery at the back which was closed the day i was there unfortunately but i was informed that they are interested in showing local artists. The staff are really sweet and the clientele are quintessentially English, pinkies up!

High Tea of Highgate could possibly be my fondest memory of London. Nestled in the quaint, picturesque Highgate neighborhood, HT is delightful to both the eyes and the palette. The owner bakes and serves up a delectable selection of sweets like Victorian Sponge cake and the most delicious scones I’ve ever tried. Her teas are phenomenal as well. This place was my ideal tea time experience. I hope they have a long life here, and visit as soon as you can. Lovely!
