Best brunch we had in the city and such a beautiful dining area!

My wife and I are here on a business/pleasure trip and staying in Marylebone. I found this gem on Unilocal(yay Unilocal!) and it did not disappoint in the least. I had the Eggs Benedict and the wife had an omelette with mushrooms, cheese, ham and tomatoes. Both dishes were wonderful. The omelette was a great portion and the hollandaise on the Benedict was delicious! Improperly cooked eggs on a Benedict are a pet peeve and these were poached perfectly. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem!

Came here this weekend for a family celebration meal. We reserved one of the private dining rooms ‘the library’ which was lovely and available to book without any minimum spend or booking fee. The food was fabulous and wine was excellent. The waiting staff were very efficient and friendly although did forget to bring a couple of things but wasn’t a problem. Looking forward to visiting again.

Pretty good breakfast food. They were out of croissants so we had to get a cinnamon roll… which I would not recommend. Waffles and the full English breakfast were good.

Grate little place in Marylebone! I tried it out last weekend for Saturday Brunch(they serve brunch til 3pm!) — and was pleasantly impressed with the quality of the food! I had the avocado /poached egg on sour dough bread — it was really delicious and well cooked. My boyfriend had the(big) full English, and it was just right — fantastic quality of sausages(which so many brunch places compromise on). Great atmosphere as well — dark wood furniture gives it an authentic British feel. Posh in a very understated kind of way. Guardian available to read for free. A bit quirky too — literary evenings advertised on the chalk board(upcoming Tudor one on «Thomas Cromwell») which I’d like to try out. Also get some interesting characters in there. Saw some rather quirky locals but also spotted Dawn French. The ambience was such that either nobody noticed her or they were just far too polite to ever let on that they knew who she was. Love that.

I had been meaning to come here for ages but kept forgetting. Finally convinced colleagues to come for a breakfast, and so glad I finally made it. It is tastefully decorated and is warmly lit, making the place feel very comfortable and welcoming. The food is of Scandinavian influence as the owner/manager is Swedish, and it is extremely tasty(can only speak for the breakfast menu). The service was relaxed, may not be quick enough for some, but we were in no rush and we’re making the most of the peaceful setting. It is such a shame so many stick to walking down Baker Street with its many chains and lack of character, there are so many great businesses like this one, just one street back.

Warum in die Ferne schweifen, wenn das Gute liegt so nah? — Or: Why search every low and high, when good things could not be closer by? I’ve been working near Baker Street for a while now, and although I’ve walked by Hardy’s Brasserie my fair share, I never actually tried it out… until my colleagues organised a breakfast here. And, boy am I happy we went… it was somewhat of a revelation! While many of the breakfast items read and sounded very appealing, I chose the following: avocado, poached egg, sweetcorn & spring onion cake, smoked tomato & chilli relish. The owner suggested a side of chorizo and I happily agreed. But I was not the only one who loved it — all my colleagues were also very happy with their respective dishes. We had a really good time and left the restaurant feeling wonderfully energised. On the way out I got to briefly chat with the owner. Turns out she’s Swedish, which explains the selection of ingredients on the menu, such as rye bread, cured salmon etc. This will be now my #1 recommendation when people ask me where to go for breakfast: it’s not trying to be trendy, it’s very comfortable, and no one rushes you to finish your meal to seat the next party.

Great food, great atmosphere. We had the Longhorn steak which was cooked perfect and was delicious, and the Shepherd’s Pie, which had tremendous flavor. Breakfast, brunch or dinner you can’t beat it! And if you are unsure as to what wine to select, ask James. He has never failed us yet!

I really liked it here. When walking past everyday on the way to work(as a visitor, not local) I saw the chalk board for ‘fresh poached eggs’ so thought we could have a working breakfast here. We did just that, rolling up with our suitcases, and took a table outside. I really liked the interior, the exterior, the waitress, and the whole feel of the place. You wouldn’t think the bustling Baker Street was 20 metres behind you. It felt serene, quiet, a slower pace(one that I’m more accustomed too) and very French in style and tone. The breakfast menu was also very different. Poached eggs with avocado. Granola with home-made rose jam. I can’t quite remember what else was on there, but it was certianly different to the usual offerings. My poached eggs on sourdough with avocado(and bacon added on) were quite delicious. Much like golidlocks third bowl of porridge, the whole breakfast was just right; it felt like a transported corner of Paris, or my own dear Edinburgh, in the midst of the bustling Big Smoke behemoth that is London. I know I’ll return to the area, and when I do I’ll come here for breakfast. Open from 7am and with wifi, c’est parfait.

We stumbled upon this place after seeing their chalk board offering up poached eggs. It was a warm morning, and we got a table outside on the sidewalk. The waitress was friendly but seemed a little rushed off her feet, so wasn’t always around to check on our meals or offer more drinks. The menu was impressive and had some cool sounding dishes. I settled on the poached egg with avocado and a corn fritter type thing, all brought together with a tomato relish. After only a short wait(maybe 10 minutes), our meals arrived and I was immediately wowed. It was presented really well, the corn fritter was bigger than I expected and there was a generous serve of avocado. But the true test of a good breakfast is always the egg. So, how was it? It was cold, with a really small yolk and just generally a real let down. While everything else on the plate was good, the egg really sucked and I would have preferred no egg. Apart from that, this place was nice. Kind of old-school in its style, the food was reasonably priced and my friends who ordered different dishes were happy enough with theirs.

I went to Hardy’s with a few(male) friends having failed to get into Meat Liquor(thank goodness it looked bloody awful!). It was a hot evening and rather wonderfully we were given a table outside. The décor is Parisian-inspired but the food isn’t exclusively French. I had fishcakes, which were delicious, washed down with two scrummy bellinis hic. My friends were happy with their food(mostly meat-based fare) and even happier with the waitress who served us she was pretty and charming. All in all, a lovely place to eat with friends, especially in the summer.

Went to Hardy’s one evening with my friend and it was overall a nice experience. Cute and cosy bistro style place, there’s nothing super special about this place but nothing really wrong with it either. Decent wine, decent food(although my steak was cooked more like medium rare than the rare I asked for)… our waitress was far from the friendliest we’ve ever had but everyone else there was lovely, just unlucky with the grump we had.

Charming neighbourhood spot. Intimate, dark wood accents, fresh flowers on tables, candlelights, mirrors, and wine. Sounds romantic right? Busy but quiet enough to have a conversation. Great service. Gave a wine tasting before committing to an order. I would say this is a taste of normal London. Not the best we have to offer the world but a sampling of the good things we enjoy here. Decent.
