Sumptuous doesn’t even begin to describe it. Sublime. The presentation, oh, ecstasy. HHmm, well, really? Really Gregg? How do expect me to act, or behave, when I walk into your delightful asian art shop? A mixture or awe and loathing came over me, probably not the mood he’s aiming for, ‘ol Gregg, when he spies a customer, a-comin into his Asian Art Emporium. It’s presented like a museum, and I suppose these are like museum pieces. Just exquisite examples of Asian — read Chinese and Japanese art — which I love. It’s an amazing aesthetic. Imagine having a real, really old Japanese screen in your house? You can, they sell them here. But they sell them for thousands, and I don’t have thousands to spare… It’s places like this that blur the boundaries between shop and museum, these pieces could be exhibits. And I suppose that’s what Gregg and his boys and girls are going for. Like, I wasn’t allowed in to take a photo. So, yeah, lovely stuff, shame I won’t be buying eh Mr Gregg Baker? And likewise, I bet he’s ruing the loss of my custom.
