Granary square is beautiful. Amazing in the summer, especially if you have kids(the fountains are a great alternative to a pool — plus it’s free!) Every night they do different colour displays in the fountain. Stunning to look at! And at Christmas they light the trees. Absolutely love walking past here!

This square is now home to a thriving food stall market of Kerb and an ever growing dining scene. Kings Cross has really becoming modernised and this is at the heart of it along with the actual station itself. Not far from the Guardian offices, St Martins and a bustling tech scene of companies popping up. it’s also a place to unwind outside. Seats galore and steps to sit on by canal with a cool fountain arrangement that is the centerpiece to the square. Really valuable part to the area I feel.

These synchronized fountains dance, play, clap and chase. I’m not sure what else there is to know — a wide open, somewhat quiet space behind crazy Kings Cross Station with plenty of seating, a Benugo truck for coffee and sustenance, the dancing fountains, the canal and multiple lovely restaurants. Granary Square — well done, bravo, that fountain is clapping for YOU. *stuck at Kings Cross waiting for a train or time to kill? Well guess what, there is nowhere to sit, so just pop on back to Granary Square and soak up some fresh air instead of stale train station air.

Now that the weather has turned lovely, Granary Square is one of my favorite places to be in my neighborhood. I am a bit biased, as it is somewhat impossible to avoid on my walk home from the tube, but it’s a pleasure to have a lovely spot to sit down and take in some sun(or even get my feet wet, walking in the fountain). With so much construction happening in King’s Cross, Granary Square is a sort of shelter in the middle of the chaos. It is the site of several popular dining locations, as well as University of the Arts, London. I’ve never been to any of the restaurants, but I am a big fan of making a picnic lunch(or checking out Kerb food market, right up the road) and heading to Granary Square to enjoy the ample tables and chairs and check out the waterworks. Also, there’s a coffee truck there that I sometimes take advantage of while reading at one of the tables. I am constantly amused by the way this area has turned into a children’s water park in the hot weather, but I think it’s wonderful to see so much life in the neighborhood! For me, Granary Square is an undiscovered jewel of King’s Cross. Come check it out. :)

This area behind King’s Cross has been rejuvenated over the last few years, once delerict, now looking pretty good.

What a great spot! Filled with fountains/kids splash pad that glow with ever-changing hues of light after nightfall, lots of tables and chairs, sun lounging chairs, and a great Astroturfed stepped seating area toward the canal, Granary Square is a lovely new-ish addition to the King’s Cross area. We enjoyed that the bar at Caravan was happy to serve those sitting in the square area. There’s free wi-fi in the whole area(as part of the King’s Cross revamp, I believe). The fountains after dark were fabulous and I wanted to take lots of photos with the rainbow lighting, but by that point a few of the little kids were running around in said fountains sans trunks and I didn’t want to look like a creeper! Clearly family-friendly as well as catering to the groups-getting-drinks crowd, there was just a great atmosphere. I noticed also near the turfed steps there was a big sign detailing lots of summer activities, mainly geared for kids/families and mainly on weekends. Lots of fun!
