Love this place. I don’t care for burgers at all but my partner does and we used to have a problem. That is, until we found GBK. It’s good for meat lovers and for people who watch what they eat. A great place with many curious flavour combinations. You find pretty mainstream stuff like a cheeseburger, a buffalo burger etc. But they also have interesting things like my favourite kiwi burger(fried egg, beetroot, pineapple) or Don with Gorgonzola cheese, or avocado bacon and so on and so on. They usually do a season special as well. I love the bunless option — although you have to pay 50p extra you get a good helping of salad and healthy slaw instead of a bun(beware: they sometimes forget to bring the relish if you order naked burgers so you have to ask for it). And if you are feeling indulgent go for the chocolate milkshake — the straw is literally standing upright in it. They also have an amazing loyalty app, so we end up getting freebies almost every other time we go. And during lunch they serve within 15 minutes. A brilliant place — we always leave satisfied.

If you’ve been this chain before then you know what to expect. pay for the burger and chips separately kind of deal.(which i do not agree with unless you’re getting fancy chips). The service is okay, lacks anything special as you don’t really see your servers much. the burger was yummy and I got an Oreo milkshake, which was really nice, thick and ice-creamy, but certainly helps fill you up! So make a wise decision before spending on the milkshakes. Not much else to say really, it’s a chain restaurant and pretty clear that it is too.

GBK very generously offered a free cheeseburger to anyone showing their London marathon medal on marathon day or the day after and a free beer for friends when the friends buy a burger. So last night I took my medal and my boyfriend along to GBK in Canary Wharf. My boyfriend went up with my medal to order for us as my legs weren’t in the best state! We ordered the free cheeseburger and a free beer plus chunky skin on fries, rosemary fries and a lamb burger. The beer came(my boyfriend would have preferred a different beer but they wouldn’t allow him to change it and pay the extra), then both lots of fries came but sadly no cheeseburger. The fries were cold and the chunky ones were soggy. I couldn’t taste rosemary at all on the rosemary fries. My boyfriend went up to ask about the burger and felt the staff weren’t friendly or helpful. I did get a burger in the end but it took a while. It was hot unlike the other food but the bun on the bottom was very soggy. I really wasn’t impressed and if the burger and beer wasn’t free I would have given less stars. I’ll be sticking to Byron for good chain burgers or the brilliant independents out there.

A standard hangout for me as part of an office lunch outing. A starter, burger and a milkshake will leave you stuffed and yearning for a nap! The sweet potato fries and the bacon Mayo are the bomb ! I somewhat feel that it is a bit expensive though…

One of the most presentable and organized GBK operations I’ve ever had the privilege of experiencing. The restaurant is always clean, staff polite, and seating available. Nor have I ever been told that anything I’ve ordered are out of stock. When I want onion rings in my life — I mean it.

For some reason even when Wagamama and Nando’s have a queue that stretches all the way to the Excel Centre, GBK has seating available with minimal queues. These Waganando’s are missing a trick. GBK has awesome burgers and awesome milkshakes. This particular branch is quite big but like all the places in Jubilee Place Mall, suffers the usual lack of daylight. Service can be mixed. I’ve had great service here and also terrible, and the skinny fries are a complete waste of time to me. They make up for it with free peanuts though. Woohoo!

This is one of those american wannabe city-slicker exciting and active ‘restaurants’ that are not actually restaurants and where the service doesn’t come close. I don’t consider a place a restaurant when someone has to ask ‘have you been here before’ and proceeds to explain ‘how things work here’ it’s a restaurant, don’t i look at a menu, order, eat and pay? No. So we get taken through the menu she highlights each section of the menu ok just to get to the point we need to go and order, right? The 10 minutes explaining that, can’t you just take the order and have done? No. So the food is good. Milkshake, Burgers, Fries all top notch. Selection is very good(in the context of a Burger restaurant). I don’t really understand the rosemary fries just fries with a sprig of rosemary on top, right? For a £1. Did someone say good margins? The waitress spilt the drink and we had to ask for plates with the starters. Will I go back? Probably. I would like to try one outside of London one that has to rely more on return trade.

Had a lovely burger and chips there over the weekend, which was great. Staff were friendly and the food ia reasonably priced. The only weird thing was they wouldnt stamp our loyalty card twice, they insisted on providing us with two seperate cards. Even though we paid together and all! Otherwise, a great meal!

Rather packed during lunch time so make sure to arrive just before noon. In general nice and polite service. During rush hours they are even nicer trying to compensate for sometimes cold food. However, of peek hours, it is nice place(despite being located in shopping mall). All that aside, when you eventually get served, burgers are delicious. So go give it a try.

This place was heaving at lunch. Kind of odd, they sit you at a table, tell you the table number(this is critical!) and once you decide what burger you want you get your ass back in the line to order. Is it backwards, or forwards, not sure but I’m not in Kansas anymore Dorothy. What slows down the line is a group of men(from the same table) that all want to pay separately so they clog the line, vs collecting the money, having one go up and order for all. However the service is prompt and as Samuel Jackson would say– that is a tasty burger. I would tell anyone that they should give it a go. Many different styles of burgers, etc and they are cooked quite well. The fries weren’t bad also.

Really good food(not good for you healthwise, talking about the taste). Service always friendly. Watch out for ordering too much, as the portions are large. Best milkshakes in the area. Also, try a couple of the dips with your chips. Not cheap, however.

So I made the first cardinal mistake of ordering chicken at a burger place– I saw that the regular burgers were mostrous – so I chose the ‘mini’ option – which was basically normal sized, not realizing that this only came with a massive bun and a piece of chicken — I mean if you order mini – does that equate to no lettuce, tomato or sauce? It was gross, plain, dry and even worse with whatever sauce they gave me! So terrible that I would never be even tempted in the least to try their burgers!

The Gourmet Burger Bar has a lot to live up to. Given the American advertising from the West-coast«hug a dolphin» main company and the quite high prices for the burgers then these had better be a Pulp Fiction style tasty burger. In the underground shopping mall beside Canary Wharf underground station it is right beside Nandos and Wagamamas and thus has a fair bit of competition too which didn’t stop it from filling up during the lunch hour. Entering the slowly sloping access way into their low ceilinged domain is like a kind of descent into a Redneck MacDonalds Bunker from the 70’s. A rough wood«bar» takes up the back of the room while black T-shirt clad servers busily swirl around it. After being led to a table, our smiling Blackshirt then told us to order from the bar and wandered off to … do whatever it is they do. Considering they had about 10 staff out behind the bar or delivering food/drinks/cleaning then I would have thought it would be fairly easy to to do normal waiting too. Anyway we queued up with the others and gave our order to the staff behind the bar like queuing at MacDonalds and then sat down to await our feast. The«awesome» milkshakes arrived first — freezing metal containers and an empty class with a straw. Be careful pouring them in since a large bunch of icy slush gathers at the bottom and can suddenly splash forward into your glass. They were very nice although slightly sweeter than expected. I had the Lime(I was curious) and it was tasty but tasted of mild Lime Cordial in a thick shake while the other two had Banana which was apparently slightly chemical tint to it. Still very tasty — don’t get me wrong — but a bit too sweet for my tastes. While slurping away I had a look at the 70’s furnishing — rather strange roughwood paneling on the bar, smooth wood paneling on the kitchen hatch wall, perspex screens with embedded straw and modern art out of a clipart folder printed onto canvas. Nice brown leather seats around the outside and hard wood seats elsewhere all lit with harsh downlighting spotlights. A very strange mix of styles. The food arrived — I had a Buffalo Burger made from real Buffalo sourced from a zoo or wildlife park in the UK. Nice seeded bread, 1 slice of lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and a hint of a slice of onion. Ketchup was on the table but I started to wish I had chosen one of the other burgers due to the dry-ish blandness of the Buffalo. It tasted like an average beef burger so basically the reason to order one is to say you’ve had it. The Mexican styled Habanero was so dripping with juice and spices that my colleague needed extra napkins to clean himself up while my other colleague had a very nice cheeseburger apart from almost having a filling out with a small chunk of unminced bone. We ordered some chunky chips and onion rings with them and these were nice and crunchy. In fact we had ordered too much and were bloated when someone came by to ask if we wanted to order any drinks. So you can order drinks at the table but not food? Oh well. We left without tipping(would you tip a MacDonalds staff member?) and emerged blinking into the daylight above the mall. To be honest — I had expected more — but it’s good for a change every so often.

I would have given this place 5 stars but for one tiny thing. We were finishing our meal here as they were about to close, and a waitress was going around picking up the tomato ketchup bottles. She picked up one from the table next to us and promptly dropped it, spattering me and more importantly, my new handbag, with ketchup. She didn’t apologise, just picked up the bottle and ran off, as I tried to clean ketchup off myself. Unfortunately I didn’t notice that my handbag was ruined until later. Even though that left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, the experience up to then had been really nice. Their burgers were nicely cooked the way my partner and I had requested(myself medium, partner well-done). The milkshakes were thick and creamy, and the chips were absolutely to die for. I really enjoyed the bacon and guacamole burger, which was so huge I had to take it to bits and cut it up to eat as it wouldn’t fit in my mouth. I don’t know what they did to the chips to make them taste like that, but they were delightful!

Great burgers, a very nice selection from the classic, cheese to more exotic flavors such as the Satay or BBQ style burgers, this is definitely one of my favorite burger places in the area. The price is pretty fair, less than 10 pounds for a nice burger, much larger than the type you could get any the other high street burger fast food joints. Would also say that their milkshakes are not bad, especially the Oreo one, but lately they seem to have thinned(the shake used to taste much thicker in the past — not sure if anyone else feels the same). Everytime I have been, tables were readily available — that simply adds to my urge to go back again! One other thing — think their 2 for 1 promotion is still on right now!

A good amount of choices for your burger, which will be tasty, and the customer service is amazing. Chicken Crispies also good. I was disappointed with my milkshake but the guy in charge made up for it. Apparently, you need to ask for EXTRATHICK, otherwise they’ll give you a glass of water mixed with chocolate milk. They assured me that the do use ice cream and even showed it to me. I guess it just wasn’t enough. I’m used to the shakes you have to eat with a spoon. Next time I’m going for extra thick. You know that tub of ice cream back there? Yeah. put some chocolate on it and hand it over. 3 stars for now with a chance for 4 if they can get the milkshakes right next time. I’ll keep you posted :)

Wow. I love Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Heart and flowers and everything. Seriously, this place is fantastic. It’s in a not very nice shopping centre(the one inbetween Heron Quays and Canary Wharf stations) but once you’re in here it really doesn’t matter. You’re only here to eat burgers! And squeeze the tomato shaped ketchup bottles at your friend. Ooops. And they are brilliant burgers. My cajun burger was huge and came with lots of yummy sauce stuff(which ended up all over my hands, face, sweater) and it was yummy and brilliant and I was very happy. And my friend Dan had food envy as he only had a dull cheeseburger. Which also looked yummy. The chips here are fantastic. I don’t know why. But they do brilliant things to them and make them taste yummy. So right now, I have burger sauce on my favourite sweater and I’m happy like a six year old. I haven’t even told you yet how amazing my vanilla milkshake was. Best milkshake ever. Even better than the butterscotch ones in Eds. One downside, the bill for two burgers, one bowl of chips, a glass of wine and a milkshake came to £25. Which is a huge amount for burgers. But I don’t care. It was worth every single penny so the place still gets 5 stars and I’ll be back next week. And the week after. Probably the week after that too

This is only the second branch of GBK that I’ve been to(the other one being in Lakeside) as it’s only recently opened in Canary Wharf, but it certainly is an excellent eatery to have there(and anywhere really) as the concept is simple: great burgers with enough variety to please everyone, including vegetarians! This branch is a bit tightly packed, and we found it especially busy with families with small children, being that it’s the holiday shopping season, but if you’re willing to put up with that, it’s worth it for a very tasty burger at not too high a price. I’m happy to see more branches of this chain popping up here and there and wouldn’t mind one more local to myself.
