It is the place you go when the French House is kicking you out. The walls are covered in photographs of faces old and new, there is quite often someone playing the piano and singing. The popping of champagne corks, mixed in with theatrical banter make this a members bar worth seeking members out to sneak you in.
The legendary Phil Dirtbox can be found behind the bar or singing! He has a vast array of hats and cabaret charm to keep you on the wrong side of sober.
Every time I have been there, I have also found myself meeting the most weird and wonderful people ever. It’s a bar that has one of the best mixes of people from all walks and life all happily melded together.
The nicest thing about the place is that everyone talks to each other and once you get down there, it has a really friendly and welcoming vibe. It lacks the pretentious atmosphere that one might typically associate with a private members bar.
