Gaylordddddddddddddd!!! I totally remember kids calling other kids that when we were younger. Who would’ve known it would turn out to be one of the hottest locations for Indian cuisine! I came here for a wine and food pairing event so I knew that I’d be sampling a few of their dishes… Didn’t know it would be 11 of them! What a treat! The wines we had to go with the food were all Indian wines !! I’d didn’t even know they made those! And I call myself a connoisseur? Ppfffttt. Anyhoo the food was packed full of flavour the wines were exotic! Paired with some of those dishes it was fantastic! I highly recommend the chicken kebab, the butter chicken curry and alsooooo the prawn and coconut curry!!! God help me I want more! Super friendly owner/manager and the ambiance was warm and refreshing! I would defo come back in search of some Asian persuasion! Flavour city is right here baby! Take it!!! Its yourssssssss *disappears into darkness*

Food is average but the place is an absolute rip off. So many«hidden» fees. Avoid at all costs!

Went here on Friday as a pre-birthday meal. Turned up late(completely my fault forgetting what time I booked for) but they were very accommodating. Staff were friendly and helpful– including getting us another piece of fish from the starter as ours had ended up on the floor! Food was fantastic– we had the mixed grill to start, the lamb shank and chicken tikka masala for main with breads. Good value too– total price was around £270, but that included 2 bottles of champagne(which came to £170-£180 for the both) Will happily come here again(and again) and will recommend it to friends. Nice to see Indian people Eating here too.

This restaurant is full of contradictions, and it was difficult for me to work out what it was trying to be. The décor and white table cloth style suggested high end formal dining. But the service was very slow and cold. The menu is definitely more on the conservative end of Indian food, but then it had some really visually striking and modern dishes like Indian Tacos(see the pictures on Unilocal) served fancily. The pricing is very high(£20 for a small bowl of prawn curry!) yet the food was not«wow». It was good, much better than your average greasy Indian place, but that pricing is even higher than Dishoom, which now sets the yardstick in London. Overall nothing was very bad, but nothing was done very well either, leaving to scratching my head especially for the prices charged.

This restaurant has been around for ages. Old school Indian restaurant with good attentive staff and a wide range of excellent dishes. I quite like the slightly dared décor. They have a take away menu which I have not tried. But this is probably my favourite Indian restaurant which to me feels more comfortable than the Bombay Brasserie with food of a similar standard. Their own house specials are worth trying.

It used to be good. Now is so-so. Ok for a palate used to mild kormas — not ethnic enough! Service needs improvement.

The service was 5-star above all. The staff was very attentive and was there every so often to check everyone had water(or whatever we wanted) without being intrusive. The food was delicious. I ordered the mixed grill which came out with some fan fare. The kabobs were tasty and juicy. The dining room is nice with white table cloths, adding a touch of elegance.

I came here with my family(kids aged 9, 13, 15) on a Sunday night, when most restaurants were closed so I didn’t have a chance to read the reviews. This was the only option. Wow was I happy I walked in. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the grill nonvegetarian — as well as the tandoori chicken, lamb chop, raita, and an assortment of nans. Everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurants to those who appreciate good Indian food.

More upmarket Indian restaurant with a slightly formal setting and good service.

Très bon Chicken Tika Massala. Service performant, chaleureux et cadre agréable. Le nan raisins et noisettes était très bon aussi. Trouver le restaurant vide vers 12:15 un mercredi nous avait inquiété un peu mais a 13h c’était complet!

Good Indian food. All the standards are offered and the food is flavorful. I had the aloo ghobi and bf had Chicken tikka masala. Only 4 stars because it’s a bit pricy. Rice and bread are extra & everyone orders their own.

Fantastic food and attentive staff. We booked through TopTable and even though we were late due to traffic, the staff was very understanding and accommodating. The food was simply fantastic. I had the lamb rogan josh while my wife had the Tikka Masala, both were simply fantastic. I highly recommend getting a jug of the Spicy Sangria with your meal. We will be back and I highly recommend trying this place if you like nice Indian food.

If you are on a budget like me, at a fancy place like this, I recommend going with a bunch of friends and ordering family style! We went with 9 people and got two starters, three mains, one side, two naans, and one order of rice and it only came out to 10 pounds per person! Everything we ordered was really tasty. I especially liked the onion bhajia(spelling?) appetizer. Warning-eat slowly because the spiciness creeps up on you later!

Excellent food served in somewhat traditional surroundings at this well established Indian restaurant in central London. The flavours are somewhat unusual compared to the ‘standard issue’ Indian restaurant and make the eating experience a most pleasurable one. The restaurant itself has aged, the décor probably needs a new lease of life and the tables are somewhat small for 4 people! The food is a bit expensive but worth the experience. If you are shrewd you might be able to dig out a deal on one of those food booking websites. Recommend the Butter chicken and Chicken tikka.(Give the keema nan a miss)

Pricey but food was amazing. Service is exemplary. I’d give 6 stars for service and 5 for food. Overall 4* because it’s expensive compared to suburban Indian food eg Sipson Tandoori which is almost as good.

The best Indian food in London. You can pay more but it won’t be as good.

Ok, it’s about time for an up-to-date review of this place. I have walked past several times, seen the classic-but-sophisticated curry house style, and smelled some gorgeous aromas! So when I found myself in that part of town after work one night, I thought it would be a good idea. I’m not quite sure how I’d sum up the atmosphere, but you could say ‘stiff upper lip’. Very much formal dining, with tinkly music and muted conversation. The place was about half full, but there were waiters all over the place. There was the drinks guy, then the food order taking guy, and there even seemed to be a dedicated waiter just for topping up your drink. Having so many people attend to you actually detracts in my opinion. It stops you from building a bond with your waiter, making the experience feel cold. And with the exception of the guy who took our food order, very few of them made any effort to make us feel welcome they had obviously been told to be polite and shut up. The main problem with all this is that they project the feeling that they’re a cut above, and the prices reflect this, but in reality it’s a bog standard curry experience. Most mains are in the region of £15, but what’s on offer is actually quite standard curry dishes, dressed up to be something more. It wasn’t that the food was bad, it was actually very nice, but just didn’t justify the expense or the overly formal service. I had a lamb saag. It was tasty, if a little plain, but thankfully my partner had an vegy curry that was quite sweet so the two worked well together. The pilau rice had an exciting description on the menu that made it sound like a taste sensation, but was among the most bland I’ve had in recent years, and came in at £5 a portion. The beer was about £8 for a large bottle. They did provide water but constantly ignored our requests for a jug on the table. Overall then, I’d be hard pushed to recommend it. 2 stars is harsh, it’s really 2.5. Had certain aspects have been better, it might have made 3. I think you might have more luck if you went for a lunch special, or had some sort of voucher/discount to use.

We went to dinner here during a recent trip to London. It was recommended by our tour guide and we found it to be excellent! We(me, my husband and 8 year old daughter) arrived around 7:30 pm and ordered several entrees including one we had never heard of that was dark chicken covered with cheddar cheese and sauteeed with a masala type sauce. I was curious how it would be and found it to be DELICIOUS! Tender, juicy and still tasted Indian even with the cheddar cheese. My husband ordered a vindaloo type chicken dish and loved it too. The décor was nice and there were a mix of families, dates and after work dinner groups, so we felt quite comfortable. The service was attentive and inclusive of my daughter. They made recommendations and explained the dishes that we were not famliar with. I will recommend this to all of our friends who go to London!

Gaylord Restaurant, recommended by S, was an experience which literally«spices up your life»; I couldn’t feel my face, throat, nose or upper body for a while, as my strong little tummy churned to digest the spiciest food I’ve ever consumed in my life. A great £30 spent on sharing fried pita chips, vegetable plate, a huge tray of chutney and mango sauces, chicken tikka masala with rice, lemon rice, paneer and aloo gaba(sp?), topped with a glass of Strawberry Bellini. It was off of Regent Street near Oxford Circus, and I don’t think I’ve experienced that much fantastic customer service in my entire time in Europe, which was a great change(serioussslyy missed from the States). Free dessert(frozen Indian ice cream) was also served, of almond and soy and milk and sugar mixture, and my eyes literally popped open in bewilderment!

Oh come on, you’re smirking just a little bit aren’t you. The name didn’t escape me either, one of the reasons for choosing this place above the others when we were out and about the other night. But it was a rather propitious discovery as it turned out. The Gaylord, which prepares Mughal(North Indian) cuisine is a bit of a legend in the restaurant circuit, and although it is part of a chain it feels very independent and high class. When it’s busy, it can be a little haphazard in here but it’s really the food you’re coming for and the prices are remarkably fair. The hardest part for me was choosing what to eat. The menu is enormous. If you’re a fan of Lamb then I’d definitely suggest the Rogan E Nishat, but I had a thumbs up from everyone in my party, and they all had something different.

Food, food, food… speaking of which this North Indian speciality cuisine menu is a one off in the heart of London. As you can imagine the demanding use of this restaurant has begun to take a slight toll. I attended a close friends birthday lunch celebration. We were a group of 8 enthusiasts. The service was good, polite staff, food was good too with the added attraction of live jazz! What a smooth lunch we had with cobra beer and mouth dropping desserts to end the perfect lunch. I would like to see them change the interiors to something more fresh; with a ‘name’ brand identity shift.
