Before you enter, ask yourself this: 1. Are you a tourist? 2.Are you really a little bit too drunk to be making conversation? 3. Are you desperate to find a pervert to take you home and do bad things to you? If any of these got a yes… go on in. It’s going to be a night to, er forget! You’ll find lost drunk foreign people and students wandering around, ordering drinks from staff who are less than polite and for some reason expect tips. I can’t 1 star this place as sometime I answer yes to the above question and as a result I am able to review this place.

A friend and i happened to stumble into this place on a rainy cold winters evening about a year ago. To our surprise it was a tuesday night and the appetizers and drinks were all half priced. We ordered some nibbly things and a bottle of champagne and feasted like we were somebodys. After, the crowd started to pick up and the DJ began playing some really great music we eneded up staying and dancing till the wee hours of the morning. a great night indeed.

I used to go the gardening club quite a bit as a student when Tuesday night was the time to go. Covent Garden isn’t really blessed by its clubs but the Gardening Club is really, pretty okay. The club is set at basement level. To the left is a dancefloor and beyond a partition on the right is a small seating area. If you get there early enough to get a seat it can be quite pleasant, as you do feel some sense of distance from the dance floor. The music is general pop, r’n’b club generic so, you know, not mind blowing. Still if you’ve ever been drunk and thought about requesting ‘Return of the Mac’ then it’s the kind of place you can have fun if you’re with a good group.

I came on a Tuesday night — Flirt night. Free before 10am and £5 after, and it’s open till 3am. And it’s happy hour all night where a double Vodka and red bull is £2.50, and bottles of Grolsch are £2.50. It is also half price on elected cocktails and bottles of wine. I would stick to the Vodka or beer. The music is very commercial, and is fun after you’ve had enough drinks down you. After a certain point the bars just becoming way too crowded, and getting a drink is a hassle. But when you do finally get to it, at least the drinks are cheap.

The Gardening Club is a great venue, right in the middle of the Covent Garden Piazza. I remember going here for the first time for new years, and I was amazed, it was great. The décor is very stylish, and combine the décor and location, that means it is a real pricey night out, and if you like to have a drink, then you better have your cards on you. Though there have been times when I have got in for free, it all depends on which night it is, and if you eat inside before it turns into a club. I have had the pleasures of being in the v.i.p room a few months back, and this was real lush, with its own bar, stylishly decorated leather seating and tables with tea-light candles. Great sound system, and it definitely is one of the best looking clubs I have been to in London.

The Gardening Club is basement level club, its quite hot down there but all in all is quite nice. Dimmed lighting and low ceilings gives it a bit of atmosphere I guess. Its split into two sections so you can also find time to just sit down with your mates and chill. Drink prices might leave you thirstier than you want to be but it is Covent Garden… Anyway there’s a mixture of music shared between two DJ’s or so leaving you lost for choice. I remember mostly chart stuff and a little Hip-Hop, with some Old School and cheese to round things up.

The Gardening Club used to be great before they closed off half the dance floor and confined you to one rubbish dance floor. It also used to have £1 beer nights, which have now gone up to a shocking £1.50. Anyway, the bouncers aren’t very friendly, and it’s generally full of ultra posh showoffs listening to bad music. Probably best to give this one a miss.
