Used to come here all the time before I moved to the States. Just moved back to London and the two times I’ve tried to come in here… Completely rejected. MEMBERSONLY. There was barely a line and they just opened. They told us «full capacity», but it was definitely a lie since they let a group of just boys in, this is definitely against women and shouldn’t be tolerated. They wouldn’t let us in because a girl was with us. This is completely discriminatory and definitely calling to complain to the authorities. The fact that a gay bar is discriminating anyone is disgusting. It should be open to everyone. They were picking and choosing. Disgusting.

FOUL. Foul attitude from clock room staff. I was worried my phone had been stolen so asked cloak room staff to check in my coat and was told that it was policy to charge me to put my coat back in! It’s also apparently policy to put all items in the cloakroom or you are obliged to wear them. No storing them on the side when dancing! In addition the place smells rotten; vomit and urine! The toilets are full of flies and the staff are just generally rude and unfriendly! I’ve been coming to this venue for years but it really has gone downhill. What used to be a fun place to dance is now ruined by staff policing the venue and trying to bleed money from their loyal customers! Will not be returning!

Deserves zero stars — my girlfriend and I got rejected because we were apparently too drunk — it was more than two hours ago since our last alcoholic beverage — the security guard was being racist /sexist or on a power trip and declined our entry for a false reason for being drunk — I asked for his identification number and he refused to supply it as he was obviously in the wrong for refusing our entry. I tired to make a formal complaint and he wouldn’t allow me to complain against him or the company!

Obviously the perfect place to pop to after an evening of drinks at Bar, there are always people dancing. It’s fun, the bar staff are lovely, and has been one of my favourite haunts since I was 18. £1.70 drinks Sunday-Thursday? £2 entry or free with a flyer from Bar? Fabulously fun people? YESPLEASE!

Came here four to five times. Fun crowd. Nice drinks. They put music videos on those TV screens so no DJ. Well with a right amount of booze you still dance like crazy though. I had fun. Oh hot bartenders.

You don’t have to be Gay to enjoy G-A-Y Late(I came home with 5 phone numbers, after one night on the town in G-A-Y Late with my gay posse) The bar area is big and there are lots of areas to dance, stand or sit, the music is good as are the music video’s on screen. The drinks are super, super, cheap, the cheapest I have ever come across in London, and thanks to flyers from other Gay venue’s entrance is often free. You will bump into many a gay from TV& Film, in the club too, such as Perez Hilton, or Mark Francis from Made In Chelsea, I was mistaken for celebrity Catherine Tate myself What a F**king Liberty!!! But Am I bovvered? There is ONLY one draw back is. The extremely rude & insulting, black woman, who works in the unisex toilet(I bet she doesn’t go home with many tips in her jar, with her stinking attitude) I have heard many people in the club moaning to each other about her & many in the queue, warning friends that had never been before, to not be surprised if the toilet attendant is very rude(So it’s not just me!!) Other than that I thoroughly enjoy G-A-Y Late & always have a good time(More so if I don’t need the loo) Dancing the night away to great music, in a fab atmosphere with good friends.

I’m not actually gay but I’ve been to G-A-Y late several times with friends, and I always have the time of my life. First of all it’s really big, there’s different rooms and a massive stage so there’s loads of space and more than one bar too. The music tends to be like disco/chart music which I think is great for dancing to and they often have live acts there too-one time it was Jedward for example. The club is not as expensive as I thought it would be either. Entry price varies, I tend to pay around five pounds and drinks are a bit pricey but only what you would expect for a club in London, definitely cheaper than some of the others. Overall I have such a laugh here, although as the name suggests the people there are nearly all gay so if you’re straight and you’re going on the pull then this is not the place to do it!

Much like G-A-Y bar, but open later and always with a faint smell of vomit.

Say CHEESE! Sometimes all I want is to dance to songs I know the lyrics to and wave my arms about like I’m in a music video. G-A-Y Late provided just that. It’s similar to G-A-Y bar but catered more for those who wanna shake their thing. Unlike the bar I don’t think the music is chosen by the customers via jukebox, not that I could see a DJ but I had had a few drinks by this point. Grab a flyer from the bar on Old Compton St and get in for free, turn up around 11pm to avoid queueing and don’t take yourself too seriously. The crowd was a mixture of ages, girls and boys, the drinks weren’t too pricey and the toilets were cleaner than many places I’ve been to in central London on a Saturday night. Although I tend to prefer going out anywhere but Soho on a Saturday, if I find myself in this neck of the woods again searching for a boogie then it won’t be a disaster to end up back here.

this is very much like a rave. i could not handle this place again, sober.(and i’m not referring to alcohol). so if you like that trance music and the crowd that goes along with that, then this is your place. :)

A haven for young gays, but a good smattering of older gays too. Reasonably priced drinks for the area and not too pricey to get in. Its nice to have music vid screens. Its probably better to go in a group for maximum fun as the young guys on their own tend to be a little shy here. Mind you, when the dancing starts it can get pretty raunchy and exciting. Certainly one to try.

Much nicer than the G-A-Y bar. Drinks are far too expensive though.

ok, so it was my frist year in london. more like my first month and i dragged one of my friends from uni. so we walk up to the door and i just walk straight on in. my friend on the other hand was interregated for her foreign ID. mind you, i have a california drivers lisence, but was not carded. so of course the loud american and his hag argue with the door man and insists she come in. i even offered to give him a blow job. but still no! n e ways, even though i only got to experience about 10square feet of the club it seemed to be alright. i might change my mind once i go again. but i doubt it, since im getting old and inside, im a 60 year old man.

FUN! So I had an invitation from my friend’s gay co-worker to come out. I do think it is a gay haven and should not be infiltrated by straight people like me. But I must admit it was one of the most fun nights out I had. They played a lot of Britney and Beyonce in the start. The best part was that they have a lot of screens up in the wall and they play the music videos of the songs. They have a little patio outside if you want to smoke on the second floor. But the two floors are mainly filled with guys who know how to dance. The best part of my evening was the samba showdown I had with one of the people I met.

G.A.Y Late — oh you cheeky little venue with your no frills pop and hedonistic attitude — we love you dearly. G.A.Y Late was once a(supposedly private members — but not for long) bar called Sean and Joes. The place was short-lived and I only went there once, but what I remember was pretty classy and lots of purple. To be honest, I don’t think Mr Joseph has done much to the interior since those days, but to be honest it doesn’t show, or perhaps that’s the low lighting or the fact I’ve had too many gins? Anyway G.A.Y Late is well worth a visit for no-frills camp fun. Great if you’re stuck at a loose end after the pubs have shut and you’re definitely in the mood for a bit more dancing. I agree with some of the other comments here that it’s pretty tough to get into with your straight female friends. They like to keep this place pretty gay and you could struggle if you’ve got more girls than boys with you. Drinks are reasonably priced and the place definitely has a more diverse clientele than it’s sister clubs and bars. Take your mates and dance all night long.

After various incarnations in recent years, Jeremy Joseph, the driving force of the G.A.Y. brand took over this space and created a late â“night bar which, surprisingly considering how awful I think his main club is, is actually pretty damn good. Opening from 10.30pm to 3am this beautifully designed bar gets very busy very quickly. Unlike the main G.A.Y. club the crowd here is much more mixed age-wise, which is great for those of us not interested in twinks. Note, though, that whilst women are allowed I’ve seen many large groups turned away and have had difficulty getting in myself when we’ve had a few more women than men in the group, which is annoying and somewhat unforgivable. The music is obviously mainstream pop but mixed so well that it’s just good fun even if one or two tracks will make you groan with disgust every now and again. The drinks prices are extremely good with some drinks as low as £1.60, which for central London is a miracle. The fact that it’s such central location means getting home is easier and it is sometimes too tempting as a âone more drinkâ kind of place, which invariable turns into a full night out with problems at work the next day. So a nice surprise from the King of Queens and a thoroughly recommended bar too!

This place absolutely sucks in my opinion, it is one of the worst nights out on the scene in london. Packed to the rafters with sweaty people, toilets from HELL, far too many str8’s and pissy door staff on the door not to mention to try and get served for a drink here is like trying to board an American Airlines flight dressed as Osama Bin Laden ie: impossible. The musics not bad if you are in the mood for a bit of camp cheesey pop but that is about all the place has going for it. My advice. avoid at all costs!!!

This place is hilarious! It is a total guilty pleasure, and judging by the queues outside and the packed dancefloor, there is a lot of guilt to be had from this one bar. Great special offers for entry and fairly reasonable drinks prices, for Soho. For some inexplicable reason, this place has the pulling power of all the young gays in town. Especially on a Thursday when it is packed to the rafters. Loads of cheesy pop and chart music, coupled with the friendly atmosphere, mean you can’t help but dance and meet new people. It is very sweaty though, perhaps they could get better air con.

G-A-Y is a fab venue for young gay men. The music is great and the atmosphere is top. I myself have had several really great nights there and have met some great people along the way. If you are a member then you shouldn’t have a problem getting in, but if you are planning to make a long journey to visit the venue then always have a back up plan(i recommend Ghetto). The door men are set on preserving the clubs high male to female ratio. if you are a guy who is not a member and you want to go with several(3+) of your girl mates, then you are almost garanteed not to get in, however early you go. I speak form several past experiences. If you do make inside, you are almost garanteed a great night. The bar staff are quick and friendly. As long as a stamp is aquired you can leave through the front door for cig breaks or for fresh air and you are not rushed to go back inside before you’re ready.

J’adore cet endroit.

Those who may avoid the GAY chain of bars and clubs thinking them for the younger gays or for those who are just screaming queens are missing out when it comes to this certain late-night bar. Opening every night at 10.30pm but filling up within minutes it is a great bar designed for those who may not want to go straight home but who may balk at the thought of going clubbing. The design of the bar is great; a huge bar which is never short-staffed so queue-times are shorts. The music is, of course, very poppy but the crowd appears slightly older than it’s counterpart gay-bar. Monday to Thursday see’s £1.60 drinks promotions so don’t be suprised if you stay for longer and leave slightly more inebriated than you planned. I have many an amazing night at this bar, usually unplanned. To be honest, I wouldn’t go there to pull as, whilst the crowd is friendly, it’s not exactly my type of guy — think more twinks, older guys that like twinks and those happily coupled up 30’s guys — but grab a friend or two and you can have a brilliant but cheap night out. One note to lesbians, the crowd is predominantly male and unless you’re an obvious fag-hag their door policy doesn’t seem that inclusive, as friends of mine have found out, but for gay-boys it’s a win-win situation.
