Foxlow is all about the steak. Come for the steak, be happy. Because that steak is amazing. Mmm. Everytime I get one here, I am happy. Everything else though, it’s only OK. We came for brunch the other day and it was fine. Avacado on toast with feta cheese. Chicken with croissant waffle. Egg and sausage muffin. All things that sound fantastic and you think you’d be blown away by, but then, it’s kind of… meh. Not bad, but not amazing either.(They do have £14 bottomless Bloody Mary’s though, so that is quality). This is kind of how I feel about Foxlow. The menu looks amazing and then the food never wows like it should. Except for the steak and sauces, those blow me away every time. It’s a largish restaurant that’s always packed, even in Stoke Newington, so make a reservation for sure. And get the damn steak!

This branch in Stoke Newington has a fab outdoor front terrace to sit and eat. It’s covered too which is nice. Some great iced coffee’s and green juices. Was really on point. Had the eggs benedict. Wasn’t particularly sold on the ham to be honest or the sauce. The sides were more interesting with sweet potato hash(with kale and onions).

My post-climb dinner just got a bit pricier and classier. Although getting a table here last minute might be a bit tricky, this place has delicious food with a range of menu options and prices that give it far more options than sister chain Hawksmoor but still the style and service you have come to expect. Homa’s vacated premises have been transformed into a lovely space which is great for locals who are looking for something in the area that isn’t a pub, indian or café. We came during the soft launch so tried all the starters and all the sides. My memory is not so great so I can’t highlight individual dishes but I can say they were all tasty and I was very happy with all my food(and there was a lot). If you don’t live too far away, I recommend eating here. I’m going to try to avoid coming too much as it is pricey but they have burgers and chicken sandwiches at an affordable cost that are competitive given the similar competition in the area.

I had a lovely Saturday evening meal here with my partner. Service was extremely good, with waiting staff both friendly and efficient. We had the squid to start, which was very flavoursome and cooked well. For main we went for the short ribs and a steak. Both were beautiful pieces of meat, with the rib literally falling off the bone and the steak meltingly tender and cooked perfectly rare. To accompany the food, we had a bottle of the house red, which was pleasant and reasonably priced. My only critism was that there sometimes seemed to be a bit too much salt(and this is from someone who likes their food highly seasoned). The brocolli we ordered as a side basically tasted of salt. However, this was the only thing I could fault about the meal, and it wasn’t enough to detract a star from my rating!

A healthy, wholesome brunch… Or a dirty english breakfast burger — your choice! Either way the food here is great and even though we miss HOMA and SOBO we’re pretty chuffed the new place in town is Foxlow. The downstairs area is like a modern diner and we got a table straight away although we hadn’t booked. Service was straight forward and quick. I had the sweet potatoes greens and eggs with a green juice and its great to find a place where healthy means yummy. The boy went for the all day breakfast burger which does what it says on the tin(in a good way). The 12.5 service brought the bill to £25, slightly pricey for breakfast. We can’t wait to go back for dinner.

How do you make an Aperol Spritz better? Make it into a slushie. Thank you Foxlow for taking everyday objects and dipping them into a rainbow. Negroni + rainbow= Snowgroni slushie. It just works and I want a bucket of it. We went in for the soft launch and had steaks(excellent), an array of starters(get the crispy squids), several cocktails(evidenced above) and it’s all done with a good value-for-money. Even perusing the brunch section of the menu, eggs benny for 7.50 I think… not bad! They were out of the mac & cheese at the time so the jury is still out on what is always my litmus test of a place I like vs love. The space they’ve taken over will be great for summer, if you’re familiar with the area, it’s where Homa was previously. There’s also a decent selection of veggie options, wines are really affordable(and they have Borough wines from up the road). There’s much to love about the experience at Foxlow, I’d certainly recommend to anyone looking for a spot for a few drinks or dinner in the area.
