A truly disappointing take away experience! I ordered a lamb kebab with bread and on my return home 250m away, found that the bread was not fresh at all. I found this surprising as my partner had eaten there and told me how good the bread was… So I promptly returned to Faanoos with my take away, explained the situation to(possibly the manager?) and asked whether a fresh replacement bread was in order. He looked at me blankly and let me know very unapologetically that all their bread is freshly made. I showed him the bread(which did not look or taste freshly made) and invited him to taste some but he merely gave me that same blank look. In reply I asked him if this is the quality to be expected of their take away food and whether I should just accept that. He replied yes, at which point I left the take away on the counter and told him that I was very disappointed in the food and service and would not return to his establishment. He replied ‘ok’ And now I can take my pounds to better restaurants in Chiswick that serve good food and have an understanding of customer service.

This comes in a little above 4 stars but I’m reluctant to go 5 stars until I go back again. As other reviews indicated, value is very good, especially for their sandwiches. The kabob with bread and salad is a tremendous bargain under £5, and we liked both the minced lamb as well as the chicken kabob. You will not be hungry after that, and I’m a pretty big guy. Meat portions are a little skimpy but not when you consider the price. Hummus was tasty, a little chunky in texture and with a great balance of oil and lemon. For the meal, I think the biggest hit was the minced lamb. Will definitely go back.

I tried this place last night having been to other Persian places in London, including Persian Palace in West Ealing the previous night! We tried calling several times to make a reservation, but the phone went unanswered. As it turned out, it was not very busy. This place is a solid three stars and would get an extra half star if that were permissible. The food was good, though portions are on the small side. However, portion size is reflected in the price making this place something of a bargain. We had mast-o-khiar and kashk-e-bademjan, an aubergine/eggplant appetizer, which were tiny but tasty. This was followed by koobideh, barg and ghormeh sabzi. I also got some chili sauce but this was basically just sambal. I wish more places spent time on chili sauce like they do at Tas, where I could just eat the chili sauce(and a cup of yoghurt!) The mains were good and fed three of us with no leftovers. We had a plate of baklava for desert, two per person, which were clearly home made but on the wet side. The bill came to a surprisingly low £33 — apparently they forgot to charge for coffees and teas. Typically British service meant long waits for attention. The ambience is a little weird: it is a cave-like theme with stone effect walls and the room is quite long with an outside patio in the back apparently. Weirdly there’s some kind of club downstairs. We saw a bunch of people who were all dressed up file in, then I could feel the beat of dance music downstairs and see the occasional strobe flash. Meanwhile, the restaurant was playing its own different dance music(not Persian) to diners. Odd. If you’re in Chiswick and want Persian food, you won’t go wrong here. If you’re not, there are other choices like Apadana in Kensington High Street and the aforementioned Persian Palace in West Ealing.

Small place, amazing food! We had the mix grill for 2, it is a mix of chicken, lamb, rice, salad. And hummus extra makes it even better! They make the flat bread by the door in the oven, wow!

Let’s start with the reasons for the one-star deduction. 1) Service is slow. 2) Coffee is absolutely terrible. Faanoos is a small restaurant located at the undesirable end of Chiswick High Road but don’t let that deter you. It’s worth the two minute walk from Chiswick Park tube station. Portions are large and tasty though the rice, and this may be my ignorance, has a funny smell that was difficult for me to get past the first time I dined at Faanoos. I’m over it now though and love the rice! The lamb. Oh, the lamb. Yum! Not much else to say — Faanoos is one or my favorite restaurants in Chiswick. Eat here!

Going there on a weekly basis as I work around the corner, I can strongly recommend this place. The quality is good and the prices are very very affordable(£5.95 for a lamb kebab with chips on a large plate). The little disappointment is on the service: it gets time to the staff to take your order and most of all, you need to go directly at the counter to be paid. Then, there can be a long queue of 8 people waiting to be charged, with only one man proceeding to payments. You can then waste ten minutes and end up in being late for work. Apart from this little disappointment, this place is very fine.

I am visiting Chiswick for a few days of meetings and trying out the local restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed my mixed grill lunch at Faanoos. Both the chicken and the lamb skewers had a wonderful marinated flavor, and the garlic mayo sauce they offer on the side complimented them well. The saffron rice smelled and tasted great. I tried Rice, another Persian restaurant, across the street yesterday and while the lamb chops were ok, I must say that I enjoyed the flavors in my Faanoos skewer quite a bit more. The prices were pretty good too.

Excellent rustic ambience with stained glass and an in-house clay oven. Good service, super-hot chilli sauce, melt in the mouth lamb fillet with a squeeze of lemon, salad, rice. I love it. A tenner includes tip and gets you fully satisfied.

wow, what can I say, didn’t look all that from the pavement, but take a peak inside and its truly authentic, lovely restaurant, lovely food, lovely fresh apple juices, lovely wraps, I could have eaten two lamb kofta wraps, definitely going back to it. Nice un-hurried service when you are with friends, but they are attentive. Its good value, its healthy, its great. I really want to take more friends there and have a small party, they look as though they could cater for it quite easily. Its a bit further down from Chiswick high road and the high street, but its well worth it, burn off those extra calories and make yourself hungry hmmmmm

Really, really good. The bread baking while we waited smelt fantastic and didn’t disappoint. Great lunch — I’ll be going for dinner.

I seem to have developed an unhealthy obsession with Persian food! We decided to try this place after reading about it in Time Out, and it didn’t disappoint. If you’re standing in front of Faanoos then you have a choice of two other Persian restaurants within walking distance: There’s Chella down the road(near the GBK end of Chiswick), which has a more Western atmosphere, and service, and excellent food. Then there’s Rice, which is literally across the road from Faanoos. Even though the service is very good at Rice, I prefer the food at Chela and Faanoos. Things that are most popular at Persian restaurants are the Makhsoos, and the Chicken grill. All starters are worth a try. If you’re not a grill fan then there are other dishes you can choose from. If you’re walking past between 12−6pm then you can stop and have their Chicken or Lamb sandwich for £3.80, wrapped in their freshly made bread. And no, I don’t work for them! If the weather’s good then I usually sit outside and have a Persian tea, or a Persian ice cream while I’m waiting for my sandwich! Enjoy!
