This was our different cuisine date night and what better place then a Nigerian restaurant in Lewisham. I will be honest this place always looks closed. It is situated in a place where an old Chinese restaurant use to be and has been abandoned for 2 years. It really doesn’t help itself by having frosted glass on the outside of the building which stops you seeing the inside from the street. Some lights on the outside or something would also be handy at helping this venue stand out. Even having the doors open would be handy, Once inside we were met by a surprised staff member suffering bad hay fever, however once he got over the shock of having customers in the venue we sat down and started our journey. It was awesome. A menu where I didn’t know what any of the words meant! My favourite. I ordered a Nigerian Guinness which was incredible. It tasted like a peaty whiskey in a beer, from overly smoked malts, it was amazing and really complimented the complimentary plantain chips on the table. The waiter happily told me I ordered the wrong random dish which was handy. He recommended a different dish based on what flavours we like for the best experience. THEFOODWASEPIC! So many great flavours and such a different experience. The whole experience reminds me of what a Chinese friend told me about good Chinese restaurants. Pick the place that doesn’t spend big money on the inside, cause the food is always the best! Must visit once or more in your life. What it does, it does very well.
