EAT is one of several chains represented in the waiting area in Paddington station. It shares the floor with Patisserie Valerie and provides a good view across the waiting area on the lower levels. As such it’s a little less depressing than the rather sad branch of Starbucks a level below. It’s nothing much to write home(or a review) about, but serves an important purpose if you find yourself with time to kill at a busy train station. With more time on your hands I’d recommend a walk to the other end of the station and outdoor cafes along the canal.

A nice spot for a quick lunch before catching a train out of Paddington Station. There’s seats aplenty, and it’s a bit less chaotic than down below. A word of warning if you go for the spicy chicken noodles — they’re legitimately spicy. Delicious, but for the sake of your heat buds, make sure you have an appropriate libation. My mango, lime and carrot smoothie was not a good choice.

Pretty reliable when it comes to decent takeaway food and meals to grab and go … the duck dumpling noodle soup(with added chili) was one recent good decision for about 5 quid. There’s free wifi, too.

If like myself, you miss your train and have to hang around at Paddington station for 2 hours, head to the upstairs mezzanine. Not the most appealing place, but it’s better than just sitting in the more crowded main part of the station. Just sitting there whiles away some of your time as you wait for your train, and you can have a cup of their Fairtrade coffee, or have one of their sandwiches like chicken and chorizo, chilli crayfish, cheddar Ploughman’s or a simple BLT. They also do soups, pies, salads and desserts. The pies look appetizing with such choices as beef and stilton, roast honeyed parsnips and chestnuts with cranberry sauce and wild mushroom and spinach.
