This store is a little bizarre. It is wall to wall books full of designs from all eras and continents than can be used without fear of copyright infringement. Many of the books come with CD’s so you can download fonts, textures and designs straight to your computer Alongside the above there are hordes of generic art books that cover all forms of artistic technique from illustration to knitting. If you are looking for expressive inspiration, need to expand your clipart, or are looking for a present for someone interested in design, this store is definitely worth popping into.

I didn’t get this shop, and no-one there was helpful enough to give me any indication of what it’s there for. I read inside that it specialises in pictorial archives and copyright free designs. Interesting… And they got a mail order service also available! It has got loads of random books on various topics — basically you buy the books so that you can copy and use the designs, prints and images. They also got a lot of astrologology books — weird addition — everyone in there knows what they want and why they are in there. I didn’t and didn’t get any help. I suppose if you need the prints you might go in there but surely there’s more on the internet?

A haven for the aspiring artist, designer or architect, this store has innumerable texts on just about everything creative, from découpage to to pattern design. If there is someone in your life that is keen on costume design, building design, knitting, figure drawing, whatever it is, you’ll find some kind of inspiration in here for them. The staff and friendly and knowledgeable and will do everything they can to find the right book or order a specific title. It makes a refreshing change to the bigger bookstores that have a create section but perhaps not as detailed a selection of unusual titles. I have spent hours in here perusing the shelves and they didn’t seem to mind a bit!
