Diverse is one of those«PC» words that makes you think of other words like inclusions, difference, to allow or make room for difference, unique… In fact, it makes me think of the United Colours(I know it’s spelt the other way but I can’t bring myself to knowingly spell it incorrectly) of Benetton ads that were profuse and popular in the 90s — posters of a blood smeared newborn, political and religious figures kissing, a brown/black/African American breast, feeding a white baby. Oh how controversial! However this shop is an absolute treasure trove that encapasses all the that that we love about diversity. Run by the lovely Anita it delivers a combination of unusual gift and trinkets with fun item for your own home. With a wonder array of wrapping and cards, the earthy and ethnic feel makes for comfortable and enticing viewing. There is even a line of natural personal care products that by simply perusing the Indian Hemp and Haitian Vetiver Body Wash makes you feels like you have just done something to helpful for civilisation and mankind! I have popped in a few times and have always come away smiling and with a nostalgic exciting that I used to get when I had just completed my, «new stationary shop» at the end of the summer holidays, pending the return to school. Suddenly the prospect of going back to school has been transformed into one of utter joy. Showing off my new Willy Wonka pencil case to my mates! Not that Anita sells WW pencil cases, but she does sell goodies that are far more exciting yet equally thrilling!
