In a mad rush one day, I missed my hair appointment at Taylor Taylor before a party. I looked like crap and had an hour to make that not the case. So I wound up here. And I’m not too impressed. I don’t really like going for blowdrys. I feel like I’m throwing money away for something that I should do myself before I leave the house. Sometimes, if you get a good one, you’re sorted and everyone tells you that you look pretty and shiny. In the case of Daniel Hersheson, I basically looked like I’d washed my hair. I paid £35 to look like I’d bothered to wash my own hair. I’ve since bought a better alarm clock. And it was less than £35.

I frequent Daniel Hersheson only because I followed my colourist here(I won’t reveal him/her as it is already difficult enough for me to get an appointment), and of the 5 or so hair salons I’ve been to regularly in London, this is my favourite. It’s not cheap(it’s also not the most expensive), but when it comes to highlighting my hair, I’m too scared to try a high-street version. The staff is laid-back and friendly, and the salon itself is exactly what I want out of a place I have to sit still in for hours — open and airy with lots of white and high ceilings, with easy access to nice-smelling and immaculately clean bathrooms and a good selection of fashion magazines.
