I’m shocked and appalled by the experience another reviewer had, and I hope that the employee responsible is no longer working at Curry Capital. I had a very different experience with the restaurant. I went on a slowish Sunday evening with a group of 8 people. Prices were definitely a bit higher than other curry houses in the area, but one of our group insisted that this place did the best curries, so we stuck it out. FYI: They do not haggle at this place. It’s not on the main strip, and they don’t offer the pushy random«come eat here please» deals that the other places do. Don’t be rude about it. The service was quite good, in spite of the behaviour of some of the members of my group(people a friend invited that will not be invited in future– sorry, waiter dude!). It could have been a little speedier, but it was pretty decent. Food wise, I have never eaten a better garlic naan in my life. I split two of their special curries with my partner, and they were both amazing. Spicy, complex, tender, and all around delicious. The pilau rice was pilau rice, nothing special. Our group raved about their meals as well. For two pilau rice sides, two special mains, a garlic naan, three beers, a glass of wine, and two chicken pakora starters(also lovely), we paid 48.45. Not bad, but not cheap. The house wine was terrible and I didn’t finish it. They only offer house wine by the glass, and I wouldn’t bother with it again. I wish I’d gone with a lassi, as they offer salted ones, which are a rare find. I think that had certain members of my party behaved better and been less rude to the waiter, the service would have been better. As it was, the food was excellent and the service okay. I’m rather put off by the experience of the other reviewer, so it is making me reconsider patronising this establishment in the future.

There are no words for our experience at this place. The place was empty as we got in for lunch at around 1h30. The waiter brought out a nice appetizer for us and gave us a free refill on the wine that he was very pushy on us getting. He placed our napkins on our laps(seemed weird, but we weren’t sure what the norm was around the area.) We ordered what we wanted and he was forcefully trying to make us order much more than this. He kept pointing at our menus and touching us inappropriately on our chests as he did. We asked for two sides(£3.50 each) and a entrée(£5.50) and two sides of rice. Instead, we got three large portions and a naan that wasn’t ever asked for. We thought he was just being nice by giving us a little extra for being the only ones in the restaurant. The food was decent. The daal was blended up as a sauce and the feta and spinach was intensely sweet(we did not eat it but still paid). As he came back to top off our wines for the third time, we said no and asked for the bill. He came out with a piece of paper with much more writing than we expected at £40.50. We argued with him and he randomly took £10 off the bill. £30 for the amount of food that we ordered is still completely wrong and irritating. We just wanted to leave at that point. We paid with our cards and kept the receipts as well as the business card that he gave us just in case something was done wrong at that point. He pulled me in as I was walking out of the door and gave me three kisses as i pulled away. He reached both hands for my chest and groped me. I bolted out of the restaurant, and he then grabbed my friend and tried to kiss her on the lips. Outside, we both turned to one another and were in total shock. I went out too fast that I forgot my scarf inside. The last thing I wanted to do was to see that man again but I had to get it somehow. I asked a very kind man on the street to go inside for me. We are still debating on informing the police.

I’m very sad about what has happened to Curry Capital. This time last year it was the best restaurant on Brick Lane. To me there were two restaurants in this area. Tayyabs and Curry Capital. Now there is one. Curry Capital changed hands over the Summer and I have to say the food isn’t the same as it was. Their Tarka Dhal, Bindi Bhaji and Saag Paneer were out of this world. Each dish had a complexity and depth of flavour. The last two times I have been since it changed over I have been served lukewarm spicy slop. I am very sad about this, as I remember what it used to be like. I very rarely ear curry now, when in this area I will be found on Kinsgland Road, slurping at a bowl of Phở. If anyone can recommend a place on Brick Lane I would appreciate that massively.

Curry Capital is undoubtedly the best restaurant on Brick Lane. It is away from the main drag at the Bethnal Green end of the lane, in an area which has recently seen a number of bars opened up. The menu is great, combining old favourites with some innovative chef specials, all of which are highly recommeded. The food is delicately spiced and well presented. Service is professional and efficient with all waiters having a smile on their faces. The décor is also modern and as the restaurant is often full has a buzzy atmosphere. Definitely my favourite curry house in London.

We were a bit disappointed with this restaurant. The wine was off, the gin and tonic tasted like sparkling water and the waiters where grumpy :(for a saturday night it was really empty too.

Super-friendly, really yummy curry house at the opposite end of Brick Lane to most of the other ones, but slap bang amongst loads of bars, so very handy really. Bit posher than some of the other ones(in that there are shinny white table clothes and no people harrassing you outside trying to drag you in), but prices pretty similar to all the others. Really reccommend it.
